Bosnia & Herzegovina: Zdravko Colic releases Sto ti dadoh

Zdravko Colic, who represented  Yugoslavian at Eurovision in 1973 ,is getting groovier than ever as he prepares to release his 14th studio album “Barut i vatra” (Gunpowder and fire). Its most successful single “Sto ti dadoh” (What I gave to you) was filmed two weeks ago.

For all y’all outside of the Balkans, let’s start from the beginning: he entered the Eurovision Song Contest in 1973 with “Gori vatra” (The fire burns), which tanked. It only came 15th out of 17 acts. But there was a silver lining. He drew the attention of the Warner Brothers publishing house. He rejected them because he did not want to live in Germany.

Since then he’s become a huge star in the former Yugoslavia with 14 studio albums, one live album and eight compilation albums. He’s a favourite of the ladies, y’all. Since 1990, he’s been a resident of Serbia.

His new number “Sto ti dadoh” was penned by Antonia Sola, while the composition was the brainchild of her and Marsel Benzon. Antonia has previously worked with Eurovision stars including Tose Proeski (FYROM 2004), Regina  Bosnia and Herzegovina 2009), Tony Cetinski (Croatia 1994), Nina Badric (Croatia 2012), Emilija Kokic from Grupa Riva (the winners of Eurovision 1989), Danijela Martinovic (Croatia 1998), Tijana Dapcevic (FYROM 2014), Ivan Mikulic (Croatia 2004), Neda Parmac from Feminnem (Bosnia and Herzegovina 2005 and Croatia 2010).

According to Serbia’s PLUS, “Sto ti dadoh” was not intended for Zdravko, since it was previously been sang by Macedonian singer Zare Berber.
