Hari Mata Hari, the band that represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at Eurovision 2006 and achieved their country’s best placing at Eurovision, are ready for a magnificent comeback on stage! The band has just released a song entitled “Da ti ko covjek oprostim”, which means “To Forgive You Like a Man Does” in English. We forgive you guys from witholding the song for so long!

According to lead singer Hari Varesanovic, their forthcoming album is the beggining of a new musical story. Speaking to Dnevni avaz and Kurir, he talked about Eurovision, new music and the group’s plans for the future.

What’s the song about? “It is something that happens to many people, and it’s an unfortunate situation of love. The girl is young and she cheated on her man, but the same day she admits it to him. It was his decision either to forgive or not, and he decides to forgive her and says: “Let’s keep this between us and move on.” But the neibourghood, friends and relatives found out. It is a mix of dignity, pride and love.”

Would the group sing at Eurovision again? “I would like that, but I don’t think that I will go. I could not repeat the success that we achieved with ‘Lejla’. We left the impression of a winner and this is something unique. It’s the same as if you were to ask Messi if he would prefer to constantly play in the World Cup for Argentina. Surely he would have said “yes.”

Does he understand why Bosnia & Herzegovina pulled out of Eurovision this year? “I’m sorry. As a man who approaches his job in a very meticulous way, I understand the move of BHRT. I like to do things the way they should be done—above all, with a good budget, good access, and a good song. If this is their reason for not going, I do in some way support them….But are the reasons truly objective? For them it often happens that people do that for their subjective reasons. In their minds something is turning around so they make some of their criteria and decisions. I do not know what it is, but I’m sorry.

Is it true he plans to collaborate with Zeljko Joksimovic soon? “What matters the most to me is that Zeljko Joksimovic swoops in, primarily with the support of some of his sound. He has one of the best musical studios in the Balkans. Normally he will help me authorally as much as he has time for. If he swoops a little bit of his style in one of my songs, it’ll be good.”

Da ti k’o covjek oprostim lyrics

What should I do when someone,
found out and told everyone
our secret aloud,
I can’t now preserve us.

They pulled the plug out of the bottle,
in which we have our secrets,
Once upon a time hid,
for my pain all of them have found out.

Ref:

Who can sin to hide,
when it finds out everything sooner or later,
because I‘d live with it,but they will not let me,
to forgive you like man does.

It’s too late now,everyone knows,
why we’re here at the end,
and if I loved you even more,
no one will laugh at me.

Ref: 3x

Who can sin to hide,
when it finds out everything sooner or later,
because I‘d live with it but she will not let me,
to forgive you like  man does.

The best entries in 2006 were: Romania – Mihai Traistariu – Tornero and Greece – Anna Vissi – Everything, then B&H – Hari – Lejla and Russia – Dima Bilan – Never Let You Go.

eurovision 2006 was one of the best contests. And first the contest that i remember i watched . I really like my country, Denmark’s entry this year “Twist of love” with Sidsel Ben semmane. But my absolute favorite that year was the UK entry “Teenage Life”.
I also love France’s song that year. And of course, Bosnia/Herzegovina.
