We already loved Sanna Nielsen for competing at Melodifestivalen seven times, uploading a workout video and dancing on a crystal box. Now, after digging through some old Melodifestivalen news coverage, we’ve found another reason to love Sanna. She knows how to keep her cool when other singers throw shade.
According to Aftonbladet, Anton Ewald dissed Sanna ahead of the final back in March. “I want to represent Sweden in the Eurovision, show that we have the world-class acts in Sweden, that we are up to date…Either you want a Sanna Nielsen or you want to have a pop star.”
Oh no he didn’t.
When 7-time Melodifestivalen participant heard those comments, she responded with all the dignity and class we’ve come to expect from her.
“Thanks! What a cutie he is. But god, I have never met Anton so it will be very interesting to see what kind of person he is. But perhaps it is so, whether you want a Sanna Nielsen or you want to have a…whatever he calls himself?”
Despite the comments, the pair seemed to be pretty friendly with one another during the Melodifestivalen final. We just can’t believe it’s taken us so long to hear about this!
What do you think about their feud? Do you think Anton will be cheering for Sanna during ESC?

I love Sanna. She shows her clever mind with her response to the childish Anton Ewald attack. He was (and is) only a teenager and Sanna… Sanna is the perseverance made woman!
What a loser… Sanna was and still is the best option.
@dhani: Oh just a get a grip Peter Pan! Grow up or pack your bags to Greece before you have a heart attack every time all your Helena Papacrap songs end up losing in whatever kind of competition she’s in.
I like Anton more now. I definitely wanted a pop star (not him, but a pop star), not a Sanna Nielsen.
Undo is my favourite song this year and I hope it’ll win. 🙂
This is great! Good job Sanna!
Hahaha! Anton Ewald should learn how to sing live before saying anything about anyone. And if by “pop star” he meant one of thos bubble-gum-chewing teenaged acts, I’ll choose a mature song any day.
Still kind of pissed that Ace lost…
Love this woman. Hopefully, She will win. 😀
Sanna will win! Undo is a masterpiece.
If you thought that was a dick move of him, you should’ve seen the interview shortly after the final, he was so incredibly passive aggressive that it made me shiver, implied that it was the media’s fault he came in last place for bringin’ up his statement about Sanna.
@T
How’s her age relevant? Would it have been different if she had been 17?
When I first heard Undo, it reminded me of Miley Cyrus’ Wrecking Ball. I wasn’t a big fan of the song but I liked Sanna’s performance. After a few listens, the song is growing on me now.
wow what a prick. glad he’s not the representative.
they should not have sent anton, neither Sanna.
they should have sent Survivor, the best melodifestivalen entry ever.
@T
Do you really consider “Undo my sad” to be well-written? Please step away from the keyboard before I throw something at you…
Lol Alyona Lanskaya is in the French entry’s music video

Just look at 6:29
omg i had no idea
Thanks T. That comment enlightened my perspective in life on loving Sweden more in this year’s contest!!!!
@Jordan
Busy Doin Nothin may be catchy, but do you really want to see a 32 year old singing ”I wanna make money while I sleep” with an awful performance and crappy vocals when you can have a elegant performance and a well-written pop song with good vocals from Sanna?
I wonder what Anton would do if he would finished second by only 2 ponts. Ace show all her support for Sanna. But Ace is down-to-earth but Anton is so over-earth
Yeah Hahahaha. In this comment Anton show how ass**** he is. But it is true that it’s a diiference between them. Sanna finished first with her amazing talent and Anton finished last because he can’t even sing.
I do understand where he’s coming from though. Sweden is known for exporting a lot of great songs, but “Undo” is not one of them. Sweden had the opportunity to send something modern and fresh to Denmark, but it came second because the voters still have their head up their arse…
