At the recent Kristallen Awards—the Swedish Oscars—Eurovision winner Loreen proved that she’s much more than an electro-pop artist. During a segment honouring the people who the Swedish film industry lost in the preceding year, Loreen covered Sixto Rodriguez’s “Sugar Man”. As you can see in the video, her stirring performance stirred something in all who saw it. The sombre performance included a haunting reverb vocoder, which added another layer of mourning to the song.
“Sugar Man” came to prominence as a result of the documentary “Searching For Sugar Man“. The biographical film follows two fans of Sixto Rodriguez who go on a search to find out whether he is actually dead. It’s a fascinating portrait of a forgotten musical hero. With her cover, Loreen pays her own tribute.

@Padraig: Really? Thank goodness he is still alive. Other eurovision fans must have accidentally mixed their names to think that Zlata’s giant had died.
Loreen: beauty and talent. She’s the most deserved eurovision winner ever.
@Huh Zlata’s giant was called Igor Vovkovinskiy and thankfully he’s still alive. 😉
Eurovision was graced by rare thing called talent and artistry… and that has one name: Loreen! This performance just justifies all that and even more …
I mean Leonid Stadnyk. I was searching for Milan on wiki at the same time while writing my last comment LOL
RIP Milan Stankovic, the giant who carried Zlata in the ESC 2013.
