Waylon’s time with the group is over, but that hasn’t stopped Ilse Delange from pushing foward with The Common Linnets. Today Ilse’s revamped group released the music video for ‘Give me a reason’ from their self-titled, debut album.

The video continues the honkey tonk, bluegrass theme the group threw down in Copenhagen. And we’re not just talking about the music. They filmed the video in a barn surrounded by farm animals, old tractors and rustry trucks. You don’t get more country than that! There are moments when Ilse shows shades of Dolly Parton, and the lyrics smack of country gal perseverance: “So damn tired of your constant contradictions/ Baby get at your convictions, I can’t make up your mind.” Ilse has never looked better. We would dance around the barn with a lady like that any time.

The Common Linnets debut album has attained triple platinum status in the Netherlands and their ESC song ‘Calm After the Storm’ topped the charts in 14 countries.

Since Waylon permanently left The Common Linnets, the band has undergone some major changes. The bandmembers now include  Ilse Delange, JB Meijers (the songwriter of ‘Calm After the Storm’) and singers-songwriters Jake Etheridge, Rob Crosby and Matthew Crosby. The band also carries the name ‘Ilse DeLange and The Common Linnets’ now (but sometimes still just go by ‘The Common Linnets’ as the official name is a mouthful). Doesn’t matter: it’s the music that counts!

Building on their success, the Common Linnets have announced a tour through the Netherlands this autumn. They will also visit Belgium, Switzerland, Austria and Germany later this year.

Some of the information on here is incorrect. The band is still just called “The Common Linnets”. JB Meijers is the one who started writing “Calm After The Storm”, but Ilse, Jake Etheridge, Rob Crosby and Matthew Crosby co-wrote it.

But besides that, it’s a great song and a nice and quirky video.

The video is not available in the US. Why would anyone want to hide music from some part of the world?
