The Georgian selection for Eurovision 2015 is just a few days away. Our Georgia correspondent Rezo Mamsikashvili recently caught up with finalist Misha Sulukhia. Misha tells Rezo about the message of his song “One&Only” and much more. And as an added bonus Misha has filmed a spectacular fan message in and around Tbilisi. You can check it out below.
Hello Misha. Congratulations on making the top 5 in Georgia. How do you feel?
I’m feeling great that my song is in the Top 5. I’m sure a lot of good singers took part in the qualifying round, but the songs have been chosen by the end of their format.
Could you tell us a bit about your song?
The song ”One&Only” is optimistic in its content. It’s about self-reliance and beautiful moments of life.The author of my song is my friend Teeyo, a young rapper girl.
Are those messages important to you? Why did you want to send those messages?
The track really came out of me. My tracks mostly follow my intuition. I think it’s a very emotional song, and I’ve seen this in people and how it impacts the audience. After listening to the tone of the work, you feel this.
You’ve lisved around the world and taken part in countless TV shows. What experiences have been most impactful?
For the last two years I’ve lived in Switzerland and Italy studying baroque classical music. This genre is of great interest to me and I have pursued it. I have had good results, but I will not quit pop music because psychics always ask me to create something new for this genre. I took part in various TV projects like “Star Academy”, “Bravo”, and “Nutsa’s School”. But if you want the truth, I don’t like this period in my art. I wish to cut it from my musical history.
Do you like that Georgia is returning to a national final after several years of internal selections?
I can’t say that I don’t like this method. For me it is a more appropriate method than a competition without competition, as happened in previous years.
Who is your favorite Eurovision contestant from Georgia?
I think Sofia Nizharadze. She was a genius on the Eurovision stage.
You have already listened to the other songs. Do you have any favourites and who do you see as your biggest competitor?
I like everyone — every song possesses some valuable elements. I have my favorite, of course, and I don’t mean myself. If I don’t represent Georgia at the Eurovision 2015, I will go away and I will be happy to present our country with dignity. I will not name my favorite yet.
You’re doing great in several online polls, including ours. How does that make you feel?
You know, yesterday I was informed that my song is in first place in foreign polls. I was very happy and this gave me more incentive. Also I see that my song is in first place on the wiwibloggs poll, so I don’t rule out the chance of winning. These are real people who express their choice by voting on the Internet, and they are also real spectators who can call or send SMS votes, which I hope.
Do you have a special message for your fans and followers on wiwibloggs?
I want to thank wiwibloggs readers and the many people for their votes of approval for me as a candidate to sing at the Eurovision Song Contest.
