Ever since Prague announced its return to Eurovision 2015, with composer Ondrej Soukup leading the way, our heads have been spinning with thoughts of the lucky man, woman, or group who will hopefully give the country a new beginning. In our third edition of “Czech Her Out”, our mini-series of potential artists for the Czech Republic, we turn to one of my personal favorites, Lucie Vondrackova.
Who is Lucie Vondrackova?
Although we already mentioned Lucie in our original wishlist, we couldn’t help but talk about her again, this time in more detail! Lucie was born in Prague to a musician father and lyricist mother. She’s one-quarter Ecuadorian, and speaks five languages, including English, French, and Czech. She studied at Soukup’s alma mater, the Prague Conservatory, and earned a Ph.D. at the Charles University in Prague. She is married to Montreal Canadiens player Tomas Plakanec and has a young son with him. She is also a prominent actress: her most famous movie was “Báthory”, an English-language production involving participants from Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and the United Kingdom. It won awards in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Monaco, and the United States. Lucie is seriously international, a woman without borders…
What can Lucie Vondrackova bring to the table?
She’s capable in a variety of genres, such as rock, electropop, and ballads. Her wide range also takes her far, and carries a variety of emotions. As wiwiblogger Angus said in an earlier edition of the Wiwi Round Up: “She’s a rocker girl, but she rocks in Czech!”
Here’s what else she can do:
Is Lucie Vondrackova on your Czech wishlist?
Blame it on the disco, baby don’t give up ehhhh… no
EWA FARNA
I guess 🙂
I have her remix album on CD. 7 tracks. This is one of them. Great stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKuSCJ7-wx4
this picture looks like it would be a whiskas-ad 😀
“Zombie” is seriously such a good song. I love Lucie and I’ve wanted her to represent the Czech Republic since I discovered her some years back. If she gets chosen and has a great song, I can’t see what’s stopping her from winning with all the momentum CR will build up from returning after so many years.
She can be the first Czech ESC-finalist with a song like “Zombie”. 🙂
