During Eurovision in Concert, FYR Macedonia’s Daniel Kajmakoski told wiwibloggs that his mother named him after Yugoslavia’s Eurovision 1983 representative Daniel Popovic. She was a big fan of Popovic and the first time she held her son in her arms, she said, “Hello, Daniel!” Now, 32 years later, Daniel Kajmakoski has won X Factor Adria and Skopje Fest and will represent his home country in the Eurovision Song Contest — just like his namesake did!

Daniel has now paid tribute to Daniel Popovic by recording a cover of Popovic’s entry “Dzuli“, which placed fourth in Munich. The video clip also shows his mom’s totally adorable reaction!

You can follow Daniel’s Eurovision journey through his official website. You can also follow Twitter and Instagram and like his page in Facebook.
