The rumours are true: we have on our hands one major Eurovision collaboration! It all started with an idea from one person: Armenian-American artist Tamar Kaprelian, part of the pre-existing Armenia supergroup, Genealogy. In honour of the 60th Eurovision’s slogan, “Building Bridges”, Tamar has joined forces with fellow Genealogy members Stephanie Topalian & Mary-Jean O’Doherty, as well as Estonia’s Elina Born, Albania’s Elhaida Dani, and Greece’s Maria Elena Kyriakou!

tamar eurovision artists unitewiwibloggs was lucky enough to be at the recording of the song, which took place today in Vienna. The six piece all-girl group will be singing a song entitled “The Otherside”, written by Tamar herself. The song really stirs emotion within you, with a great piano-led sound that is really inspiring. The song is about peace, love, and unity which really keeps up with the theme of “Building Bridges”.

Tamar said about the song “Music has the ability to bring people together…it unites and eliminates cultural differences. It is an honour that the girls agreed to be part of this.” Tamar also revealed in an exclusive interview (coming soon on wiwi.tv) that the entire concept came about after she started to talk to the girls on social media.

We spoke with the group at the recording session and you can view that video below. You can really feel the bond these six artists have with each other and it really is a great example of how Eurovision can bring such acts together. Bravo to Tamar for the idea and we cannot wait to hear the full version of the song, which will be released soon!

My opinion of how they will al fit in the group:

Maria Elena: The older, more experienced one with the breath-taking voice.
Mary Jean: The Australian. (That’s a good thing btw theyre all positive).
Stephanie: The unique one.
Elhaida: The main vocalist.
Elina: The young one.
Tamar: The leader

ok omg that sucked so bad but im just really really excited

Marco, Armenian girls would be happy to build bridges with Azeri artists and Armenian society would welcome that but if Azeri artists agree they will be condemned in Azerbaijan and announced as “traitors”…Sad but true, it happened several times. As an Armenian myself I would not mind if ESC fans bring forward such an idea and help to ease the tension. If Azerbaijani society see the pressure from Europe they might give in 🙂

Erm, what´s wrong with Elhaida’s face in the group shot? It looks like someone photoshopped her face over someone else’e body lol.

Can’t wait to hear the song, it will be interesting for sure. They’re all great talents.

What would be really interesting and a huge “building bridges” were a collaboration between armenian and azeri artists. Maybe one day we will see it, just as we saw the nice encounter between the israeli delegation with the lebanese journalist/fan. That’s real eurovision spirit, y’all!
