Armenia’s AMPTV will reveal its Eurovision 2016 singer on October 13 — and Eurofans around the continent are gagging to know who it’ll be. So far our only clue is this trailer, which features the silhouette of a woman with some major showgirl attitude. At least we know she has nice hips. The rumor mill suggests Athena Manoukian, Iveta Mukuchyhan and Sirusho.
But Dalita Avanessian — Armenia’s Junior Eurovision 2011 singer — made us scratch our heads when she posted this message on her official Facebook account on September 21. Ararat News even re-published the message on their web site.
Could one of those surprises be an appearance at adult Eurovision?
She’s certainly a seasoned competitor and performer. Back in 2011 Dalita placed fifth with her song “Welcome to Armenia”, which was hosted in Yerevan that year. In 2009 she won the Miss Top Model contest and in 2005 she was actually Miss Yerevan. That’s a lot of titles for this little lady!
Since JESC she has kept on making music. Her most recent single is “Keep Calm and Just Dance”. We’re happy to, especially since it has such an uplifting message: “Look into your eyes and heart, sway yourself for-ever, ever, never be alone inside..” Absolutely.
Would you love to hear Dalita at Eurovision? Who are you hoping for on October 13?
