Hovi Star won Israel’s national selection HaKokhav HaBa L’Eirovizion (“The Next Star for Eurovision”) with his entry “Made of Stars”. The song is written by Israeli songwriter Doron Medalie who was also behind Nadav Guedj’s 2015 entry “Golden Boy”.
The song creates a sensuous world of mystery, with Hovi singing, “You hypnotise me, hypnotise me”.
When the big chorus comes in, it has the positive message that “We are made of stars”. The song reaches a dramatic peak when Hovi goes for the big line, “Dance with me like we are made of stars”.
In 2015 Israel broke their long period of non-qualification with an English-language song written by Doron Medalie. Can they do the same again in 2016 and have another “Golden Boy” moment?
