Today the Wiwi Jury – our in-house panel of music unprofessionals — travelled to Amsterdam to float through the beautiful canals whilst indulging in some delicious patatje oorlog. After this combination made us feel a little seasick, we decided to have a rest by reviewing the Junior Eurovision 2017 entry from The Netherlands, “Love Me” by Fource. Is this awesome foursome ready for Europe’s love? Read on to find out…
The Netherlands’ Junior Eurovision 2017 song
“Love Me” reviews
Antony: There is a certain coolness that will appeal to kids with this contemporary song. It is also refreshing to see a boy band at JESC. However, what is a concern, are the various ‘noises’ throughout the song which could be perceived as annoying to listeners.
Score: 7/10
Josh: An upbeat pop song with a real teenage anthemic quality. These boys are serving everything and more. This is quintessential teenage pop in 2017, taking elements of Justin Bieber, Liam Payne and Shawn Mendez and adding a clear Dutch flair. This makes me want to jump on a boat and glide through the canals of Amsterdam. Just replace all those teenage girls with Satekrokets and I’m set.
Score: 7/10
Renske: Fource is an enthusiastic group of boys, but sadly, their song is weak. While sounding modern and fun, the song is incredibly cheesy at the same time. Though, Fource is ready to bring a proper party to Tbilisi and that will definitely work for them.
Score: 7.5/10
Robyn: The bright northern pop of “Love Me” makes me wish the Nordic nations still loved JESC. Fource is adorable — heart-eyes emoji all the way! — and they bring a fun swagger to their performance. “Love Me” has a fresh sound, and with no Swedish or Norwegian competition, Fource will stand out.
Score: 8/10
Sebastian: Post-One Direction, a boyband doesn’t exactly feel current. That said, the song sounds fresh. It’s got a great beat and a catchy hook. Simple English lyrics are scattered throughout the song where it matters the most. Tweens will probably love it, but for older viewers, it might serve as a reminder of how they’re not so young anymore.
Score: 6/10
William: The Dutchies are bringing back the boy band — and they’re pulling it into 2017 with sweet, witty and thoroughly contemporary lyrics. “You post a photo and even without a filter it’s lit,” they sing. “If you like sending snaps, please share them with me.” The appeal here comes less from the song and more from the fact they’re having a good time and enjoying what they do. Add a bit more vigour to the dance break and they can be proud of their effort.
Score: 6/10

The highest and lowest scores are dropped prior to calculating the average score. This is to remove outliers and reduce potential bias. We have removed a low of 5 and a high of 9.
How low score! This, for me, is easily the best entry this year. It’s fresh, modern and uptempo. I think children should listen happy songs instead of crying. 10/10
Soundwise it’s amazing – pre-chorus, bridge and banging chorus are so juicy that vocal versatility doesn’t even matter much. The latter is probably slightly lacking for me but can be written off for their ages.
They seem to be well trained to provide nice perfomance and give some choreo (just not too much it’s not Korea they’re coming off).

Very fresh amongst all these boring girl contestants…
An ungodly abomination. Late withdrawal is the only option left for the Netherlands. 0/100.
Finally a boybaaaaand!!!! Their song is amaaaaaazziiing!!! Its just that it’s a bit cheesy and somewhat a cringe fest. However, good choice indeed!

So the first time I heard this song, I thought one of the guys sang “Ik zie je foto en, zelfs zonder filter is hij niks” = I see your picture, and even without a filter its nothing. LOL. I was like, well thats rude, why is she smiling. Then later I heard it again and heard it was LIT instead of Niks. hahaha
Such a low score! I think this entry is totally on point: very current pop (it even has the post-chorus drop!) and four charismatic guys fangirls will completely love. Also, they have great stylists!
Netherlands and Cyprus are my favourites.
At first, when my country selected Fource, I wasn’t very happy, the fact that they are a boy band was just a gimmick. But when the song rolled out, I loved it INSTANTLY. This is contemporary and I see this doing really well with juries and the online votes.
