Sannie 2018 DMGP
Sannie 2018 DMGP

She made us all wriggle our bodies and dance along to the 1994 smash hit “Saturday Night”, and now Sannie, better known as Whigfield, is ready to wow us with yet another sexy dance routine when performing her song “Boys on Girls”.

The 47-year-old singer has revealed that her staging at Dansk Melodi Grand Prix on Saturday will be very sensual and steamy – completely living up to her chorus “boys on girls, girls on boys, girls on girls and boys on boys”. In fact, DR describes it as perhaps the sexiest performance in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix history.

“It will be sexy. It will be hot. It will be a very sensual dance and there is a bit with girls and a bit with boys and then I am in the middle”, she tells DR’s Grand Prix webpage in a video.

This will be very interesting y’all!

Sannie and the nine other contestants that make up this year’s Dansk Melodi Grand Prix field have just completed their first rehearsal on the big stage in Gigantium in Aalborg.

And Sannie is looking forward to Saturday’s final, she tells DR.

“It was fun to see it all for the first time. How it will look with the lighting, sound and my dancers and I am really looking forward to Saturday. I hope I can remember all the dance moves”, she says.

Grand Prix advice from Me & My

Sannie also reveals that she has gotten good advice from another 90s superstar – Pernille Georgi from the Dub-I-Dub duo Me & My. Pernille herself has participated in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix as one half of Me & My in 2007 finishing as number six in the national final.

“She told me that she would advise me to enjoy it because it goes by so fast. The song is only three minutes long and then you’re just gone. So even though I may not win I think I will try to carry this experience in my heart”, she tells DR.

But what do YOU think? Are you looking forward to Sannie’s performance and do you think she could scoop up the victory on Saturday’s DMGP? Let us now in the comments box below.

whigfield (sannie) deserves nothing, don’t let her have the chance at esc. Millie Vanilli were destroyed for playback when someone else was singing, why Whigfield deserves a second chance? One of Milli Vanilli is dead because of the shame, yet Whigfield is here to fool as again with this lgbt appropriation.

whigfield’s studio voice belonged to annerley gordon (aka ann lee, of two times fame), she was only a model for the project>

I already posted that video earlier. Here’s another credited to “Lolita” with exactly the same voice. I’m pretty convinced now that Sannie never sang on any of the Whigfield records. 🙁

In her hurry for gay votes and ‘progressiveness’, she forgot to include some transgenders into her little orgy…

Trashphobic, not homophobic (gay myself, so that would be a bit difficult).

Her Sannie vocals sound completely different to her vocals as Whigfield for some reason.

The “lights” line strongly reminds me of some other song and I can’t remember what it is. Anyone?

That’s because the actual vocalist of Whigfield was British singer Annerley Gordon, and not Sannie Carlson.

Are you sure?

She says in this Guardian article about the making of Saturday Night – “I’m the first to admit I’m no Maria Callas. I’d only ever sung in school. We must have done over 20 takes, then they just painstakingly spliced the best bits together”.

That isn’t true, it was a rumor circulated because in the past few years there had been many Eurodance acts that were using different vocalists to the singer -notably a model called Karin as the face of Black Box when the vocals were actually a mixture of Martha Wash and Lolletta Holloway. I saw Whigfield live and the singer was the same vocal she was not miming way back in the 90s, altho she did mime for most TV performances. Also she went on to do 5 albums, and did a compilation album in 2006 where she re-recorded her vocals… Read more »

James, I was curious so I dug a little deeper…it seems there is a plausible case to made that Sannie was just the frontwoman and not the actual singer, much as I don’t want to believe it.

Are you familiar with this 1993 track credited to “Charme”, it sounds exactly like “Whigfield”! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DAAu7DmfhA

There’s no doubt that she later started singing live, but her current vocals sound nothing like her biggest hits – even the link you provided sounds different, though somewhat similar.

It would also explain the name-change to just Sannie. I just don’t know.

But who is to say that isn’t Whigfield on “Try Me out’ She wasn’t famous then, none of them were, so she wouldnèt have got the credit. It could easily have been her under a different name – she didn’t want to be Sannie and Whigfield had not been thought of. It’s literally a try out demo and then the song was given to someone else, happens all the time right up to today. The fact that Sannie went on to use other aliases such as Naan in the late 2000s , when it is clearly Sannie. I really don’t… Read more »

P.S. I finally realized that the song, or at least parts of it, remind me so much of Lana Del Rey.

I see that she did a mistake and didn’t see ‘u’ in Eurovision, and now she’s too embarassed to withdraw after realising it…

I don’t care who wins, I love Rasmussen. Do you really think your opinion will influence only a little bit? Opinions are opinions and i really didn’t ask for you to tell me that I’m wrong lol.

If Jeffy is from Denmark, his tasteful opinion will sure influence a bit as he can vote.

It’s funny how when someone likes songs you like yourself, it’s ”good taste” and when somebody disagrees with you it’s suddenly bad taste. How important do you think you are? (And how come that you present yourself as a completely different person in your YouTube Videos? ;))
