Rick Vol, the father of OG3NE sisters Amy, Shelley and Lisa, has found love once again. On Instagram he posted of a picture of him and his new found love. Surprisingly, the lady on his side turns out to be 35 years younger than him and a diehard fan of his daughters. In Janine Aarts he’s found a girlfriend…and a fan girl!

On Sunday Ricardo Vol — age 55 — went public with the news a new woman is in his live. The lady in the picture turned out to be twenty-year-old Janine. The caption read: “Moving on with your life is only possible if someone shows you that there is still a life. So, enjoying now this summer holiday with Janine”

Janine: OG3NE fan from the beginning

Janine has been fan of OG3NE from the start, following the girls from the foothill of their careers to their current peak. In fact, the is a Youtube clip of a birthday celebration with OG3NE and Janine on stage. In an old interview in Dutch newspaper De Stem, from May 2017, Janine gushed about the group:

“I never thought that I would become such a great fan of a certain group. I had to drive many kilometers for the concerts, but I think it’s worth it. They always make some time for you. Even though the girls don’t have it easy themselves as well, for example with their mother. Nobody can surpass their voices of harmony. So whether they end high or low in Kiev, I remain proud of them”.

The 20-year old OG3NE fan can now be as close as her idols as she wants to be. Janine and Rick show that age is no barrier to love and that the 35 years between them isn’t a chasm. Janine is younger than all three of Rik’s daughters, as Amy and Shelly are both 22 and Lisa is 24. It’s not clear where Janine and Rick met or fell in love, but we imagine it may have been one of the sisters’ cosy and romantic concerts.

Reaction from OG3NE

Only a year ago OG3NE represented The Netherlands with their song “Lights and Shadows” — a song dedicated to their mother, who was at the time fighting an aggressive form of bone cancer. She lost the battle in July 2017, shortly after Eurovision. Despite her very tough fight, their mother was able to travel to Kiev in May 2017 to support the girls in their Eurovision journey.

The ladies have given their reaction to the burgeoning relationship. They support their father and despite the loss of their mother, are happy he has found happiness again.

“We are all still struggling with the loss of mum and we know through our own relationships how important it is not have to go through the dark times alone and to have someone who will help you get up again in times when you don’t know what to do. We have viewed from up close that Janine is a huge support, making our father happy and that is, as a daughter, what you want the most”.

What are your thoughts on the news? Are you happy for Rik? Does age matter? And have you lived through a similar experience? Let us know down below!

It might seem sudden, but for some people who experience a partner with a terminal illness, it gives them time as a couple to say goodbye and a blessing to move on, when the time is right.

“What are your thoughts on the news?”
Seriously: It doesn’t matter what our thoughts are about this. If they are happy, let them be happy. This family has suffered enough lately, so the last thing the need right now is “press” writing their oppinions about something they really shouldn’t be bothered about.
Love = Love, so let them be, and wishing them all the best.

It’s their life, they do what they want as long as everyone is major and consenting.

On the other hand, I don’t see the point of making an article. I don’t care who is sleeping with whom, it has nothing to do with the music or the contest.

She could be his daughter, I’m personally not a fan of big age gaps but if his family is fine with her than it’s ok.

I wish them all the best. For me personally, this would be too fast after his wife’s death and she is kind of young for him. But, it’s not for me, so I can only hope his daughters are good with this. Those people really deserve some happieness.

I’m happy for the father, but am I the only one who feels awkward about this?

No, you’re not. Both the circumstances and the fact it happened so soon make it really awkward.
