famous noelia

All 16 Operación Triunfo 2018 contestants are eligible to go to Eurovision 2019. However, according to Noelia, the act who was eliminated this week, only Famous wants to sing for Spain!

In an interview with Formula TV, Noelia — who was eliminated this week with one of the lowest margins ever (49.8% vs. 50.2%) — has stated that none of the contestants are really attracted to the idea of representing Spain in Tel Aviv, bar Famous.

She says she also would like to go, and even proposes a duet between her and Famous. We figure that would transform Spain’s performance in a powerhouse vocals fest.

As for the rest of her mates, Noelia says that most of them, knowing that Famous really wants to do it, have let it slip a little bit, and none of them are really considering it.

In fact Famous — who sang Cesár Sampson’s “Nobody But You” this week and became the runaway favourite of the audience (over 30% of the votes) — said during the gala show that he really wanted to go to Eurovision.

Nevertheless, the Eurovision selection is still a while off for the contestants. With a little more than a month until the OT Final, and with the song submission period still open, it’s understandable that Eurovision isn’t on their minds much.

However, it’s a tad worrying that none of the other contestants, according to Noelia, appreciate Eurovision and that they are not really willing to go.

But also remember, people like Aitana or Amaia weren’t really eager to it at this point last year. Let’s not forget this iconic moment of mixed reactions when the OT 2017 acts were told that one (or more) of them would be going to Eurovision 2018.

The result? Well, Amaia sang in Lisbon and Aitana and Ana War‘s Eurovision gala entry “Lo Malo” became one of the biggest Spanish pop hits of 2018.

Meanwhile, all we can do is some wishful thinking. Do you think Famous is a good idea for Eurovision? Would he make a good representative for Spain? And what about Noelia joining him as a duo? What other OT 2018 acts? Let us know in the comment section below!

Anything Spain does, be it OT, another format of NF or internal selection, will be useless until they change the whole head of delegation.

He bores me. Send the one who dislikes going the most, that might be fun to watch. Also, aren’t the contestants obligated to go in case they get chosen or is it optional?

It’s a shame none of them want to go to Eurovision. It’s true that here in Spain we have a very toxic fandom, who adds a lot of pressure. Previous Spanish entries and their placing aren’t a But, as a singer, who wouldn’t want to sing in front of 200 million people around the globe? It’s a unique opportunity, almost once in a lifetime. I hope they change their mind, because it would be a dissapointment to watch a TV show (Eurovision gala) who none wants to win as they wouldn’t put any effort in their performances.

Well, it doesn’t surprise me much. Except for Pastora Soler who had Universal heavily pushing behind her, TVE did everything to make the life of their Eurovision entrants miserable. No singer in the last 20 years or so speaks of their eurovision experience in good terms and that is because of TVE’s notorious uselessness. A pity, cause Spain is a very Eurovision friendly country despite the results.

Most Spanish artists doen’t give a fig about Eurovision because it’s not where their market is, most of them don’t even have good English. Spanish artists tend to look more to the Latino market, culturally and linguistically linked to us.

I would love to see them send Famous. It would be such a change for Spain. He has a real soul voice which paired with the right song could do him wonders in Tel Aviv.

Send him! Who needs the others’ bad attitudes. He’s got talent and he really wants to do it.
