Hungary’s national selection A Dal 2019 continued tonight, with six more acts qualifying for the semi-finals. Fatal Error, Acoustic Planet The Middletonz, Bence Vavra, The Sign and yesyes will be heading to the semi-finals in February.
The first five qualifiers were determined by a combination of televote and an expert jury made up of A Dal jury regulars Magnun Cum Laude lead singer Misi Mező and award-winning performer and composer Miklós Both, while rock legend Feró Nagy, singer-songwriter and former Eurovision jury member Lilla Vincze join the jury this year.
The vote was won by metal band Fatal Error who scored 45 points. Next was Acoustic Planet, who followed closely with 43 points. András Kállay-Saunders’s new collaboration The Middletonz was third with 41 points.
In fourth place was Bence Vavra who scored 39 points, followed by The Sign in fifth place with 38 points.
Fatal Error was also the public favourite and topped the televote, showing that Hungary may have taste for metal.
The sixth qualifier was selected by a second round of public voting. The public agreed with the results of the first round — the sixth spot went to 2018 runners-up yesyes who had also placed sixth in the first round.
The qualifiers will go on to compete in the semi-finals, which start in early February. They’ll be joined by last week’s heat one qualifiers and next week qualifiers from heat three.

What do you think of these six qualifiers? Who should make it to the grand final? Have your say in the comments section below!
Feel sorry for Diana and Gotthy, and happy for Acoustic Planet, another dark horse after Kedves Vilag last week.
I was expecting much more from yesyes, but I think they were better than The Sign and deserved to qualify before the second round of voting. My favorites tonight were The Middletonz and Acoustic Planet (though I think this song is maybe too light for a contest). I also enjoyed Fatal Error. Cool staging by Bence Vavra, the dancer is very expressive.
I’m loving “Kulcs”. So happy they’ve qualified. Their song is so catchy and uplifting I can’t help but sing “Devlezsvasy” with them (if that is even a real word…). Hope they reach the final at least. I didn’t like The Middletonz at first, but the live performance has really lift it up for me. “Roses” sounds very current and will most probably reach the A Dal final. Contenders. I’m a bit dissapointed with yesyes. His vocals are pretty limited and he sounds too strained while hitting the high notes. I want them in the final, but given the fact that… Read more »
The main line of Kulcs is “Nem lehetsz másé”, meaning “You can’t be someone else’s”. I’m pretty sure they will reach the final given that their score easily beats any other so far. 🙂
These judges are screwing up A Dal badly this year. Almost lost Yesyes after losing Berkes last week.
Realisation: Are the judges intending to eliminate ANY bands before the final? Or just slowly killing off all the solo artists?
yesyes needs to drastically improve that performance if they want to win, thank god the televote gave them a second chance. Roses is my new favourite now.
The jury has too much power in A Dal.
Not always. In 2017, both Kalandor and Hosszú Id?k were a televote point higher than Origo in the heats and never got the chance to go head-to-head with it in the grand final. Origo won because the judges put it up against two songs that had been getting 5s in the public votes and a weak Gigi Radics song.
What does even ? means?
Are you asking bout the title of The Sign’s song? It means ‘he’ or ‘she’.
I admitt I was hoping that yesyes would get elliminated, but even I have to agree that they were better than those other four acts that didn’t advance. Anyway – I think The Middletonz were best this evening.
I’m looking forward to next week – with my two favourites.
Meh… I was really rooting for Little Bird to make it. 🙁
Also, does this mean that Kulcs is now a forthrunner?
I personally wouldn’t mind, I really liked Kulcs… But I doubt that Hungary will send a rock song again, the jury won’t let it happen in the end, despite the high number of points they gave to Kulcs tonight.
I actually 100% agree with the qualifiers, well done.
Yesyes survived. Why so underrated?
The performance was not very good and his vocals were no way near the studio version.. they will have to improve a lot to win I think
Oh ok thanks I couldn’t watch the show.
