Five acts have already performed in Iceland’s national final, Söngvakeppnin 2018. With two acts having qualified from the first semi-final, it’s nearly time for the acts from the second semi to take to the stage.

The second semi-final will take place February 16 in Háskólabíó. Five acts will compete for two spots in the final, which takes place in Laugardalshöllin on March 2.

With the running order set, we want to know: who do you think should win the semi-final? And which of the acts should go on to the final. You can have your say in our poll!

The competing songs for Söngvakeppnin have been released both in Icelandic and in English. As they will be sung in Icelandic in the semi-finals, we’re only showing the Icelandic versions for this poll. Of course, you can listen to the English versions here. (Note that two songs that only have an Icelandic version – Hatari’s “Hatrið mun sigra” and Elli Grill and co with “Jeijó, keyrum alla leið” – so there are only 8 songs on this playlist).

Below you can listen to all of their videos. Then vote in our poll. You can vote for as many songs as you’d like, but you can only vote one time. Be sure to click next to both of the acts you want to see in the final before pressing submit.

Friðrik Ómar – “Hvað ef ég get ekki elskað”

Tara Mobee – “Betri án þín”

Elli Grill, Skaði & Glymur – “Jeijó, keyrum alla leið”

Heiðrún Anna – “Helgi”

Ívar Daníels – “Þú bætir mig”

Who should qualify from Semi-Final 2 of Söngvakeppnin 2019?

Make sure to let us know in the comments section who you have voted for as well, and who you think are the two that will make it through.

The English version of Fridrik Omars song is just soooooooo bad. Absolutely one of the worst songs of any national final season this year. Its slightly better in Icelandic so he better keep to Icelandic then.

ICELAND is all about Hatari anyways this year. Love that song so much 🙂

Helgi is my second favorite in Iceland, behind Hatari… such a bright, bubbly song, I’ve been using it to wake up on weekends and to get motivated to go to the gym 🙂

Tara is overrated, Fridrik Omar and Ivar Daniels are my two qualifiers

Weak SF and we all know Hatari has one foot in Tel Aviv. Anyway, I would pick Tara Mobee and Fridik Omar. Ivar Daniels is good too, not for Eurovision though.

I think Helgi is the best song in this selection, so I hope it’ll go to the final. Tara’s song is also good.

I like Tara and Heidrun’s songs the best out of this pack. Fridrik is alright too.

..but yeah still my favourite is Hatari, hahah.

If you disregard the cheesy English lyrics and listen to the Icelandic version of Ivar Daniels’s song, it’s easier to appreciate that the song’s music is absolutely beautiful. I hope it advances.

According to the bookies – Iceland’s chances of winning are getting more and more likely by the day!! I’ll win £340 if they do!! Come on Iceland!!!

I came here looking for “Hatari are through – so who cares” comments and I found them 🙂

It’s probably a pretty clear choice, but good luck to all the other participants! Hope they enjoy!

“Hope they enjoy!” lmao, that sounds so passive aggressive I love it.

Oh that’s not at all how I meant it, I sincerely hope they enjoy the experience (which may be hard to do when you’re competing in a competition that feels futile) 🙂 Your interpretation will just be how you read it — though now you say it, I can see why you thought it 😀 and a shady “hope they enjoy!” would fit ironically well with this NF, especially with how much Hatari will likely be a love it/loathe it experience for many. Generally I think that life is too short for passive aggression; if you have something to say,… Read more »

Helgi is my favourite song in Songvakeppnin this year by quite a distance. Not as enthusiastic about the English version, but I say that every year 😉

Nobody. Just let Hatari perform four times in the final. +1

Is it just me, or is the Iceladic NF the most clear-cut case of the whole season? I mean, the impact level of the favorite is well beyond others.

Iceland doesn’t have a competition, as much as confirmation (ahem… Hatari… ahem), so the outcome here is less of an impact for me. I’d be okay with Tara and Fridrik.

Ívar Daníels but seriously, what does it matter?

Honestly, I don’t like any of them. Judging from the opinions of the fandom on the internet, probably Tara and Ívar are the most appreciated and possibly those who will qualify. Doesn’t really matter to me as long as Hatari wins.

Hatari is their only choice. They are currently 16th with betting odds and that’s pretty high for Iceland. We all know the reason though. 😉

Tara and the second doesn’t matter. I guess Heidrún.

I’m sorry, but I don’t think anyone cares enough. Hatari’s gonna win anyway, they might as well select them internally at this point… I guess Fridrik Omar should qualify, that song is fine. I don’t… hate it.

If they screw this up, I will have to punch all the jury members in the face individually.
