Every day between now and the grand final in May, the team from wiwibloggs will be rounding up the latest titbits from the world of Eurovision 2019. We’ve trawled through Instagram, Twitter and elsewhere so that y’all don’t have to. This is the Daily Digest for Friday the 3rd of May.
Kobi Marimi feels us
Kobi’s team is planning to make some changes to “Home” due to criticism from fans. According to Israel Hayom, another instrument will added to the opening of the song to bring more drama to it. Kobi’s face will appear on screens behind him during his performance and lightning effects will emphasise the message behind the lyrics – “I feel the sun upon my skin”. He will conclude his performance while walking to the centre of the stage. We will have to wait and see the results at his first rehearsal which is scheduled for Friday, 10th May. (Izhar)
S!sters perform at ARD Morgenmagazin
Germany’s S!sters performed their entry “Sister” on German morning television show ARD Morgenmagazin. In a stripped-back version, the performance entirely focuses on their vocals while only being accompanied by a keyboard player. This gives a much better impression of their very strong vocal delivery. And this certainly shows the potential with this song in Tel Aviv! (Florian)
Hatari sell some t-shirts
Hatari — the award-winning, anticapitalist, BSDM-inspired Icelandic performance art group — have always been clear about their intention to dismantle capitalism. But at the same time, they acknowledge that ending capitalism don’t come cheap. The group has now opened an online Hatari merch store, offering fans the chance to buy Hatari posters (€5-10), t-shirts (€25), hoodies (€35) and stone busts of Klemens or Matthías (€50,000). Check out their consumer products here. (Robyn)
Iceland Music News files first report on Hatari’s Eurovision journey
Meanwhile, Iceland Music News — the Icelandic music news website that seems to only ever report on Hatari — has filed their first video report on Hatari’s Eurovision experience. Reporter Hákon Jóhannesson catches up with Hatari in rehearsals and discovers that the group is preparing for “the fall of capitalism and populism”. In Icelandic with English subtitles. (Robyn)
Anna Odobescu stuns in new photoshoot
Moldova’s Anna Odobescu is here to stay. Her latest Instagram post once again goes to show that she’s the perfect ambassador for her country on the Eurovision stage in Tel Aviv. Shout out to the designer who’s done a fantastic job creating this gown! Will it be similar to what she’ll take to the Tel Aviv stage? We’ll soon find out! (Florian)
D mol are ready to fly to Tel Aviv
Montenegro’s group D mol will soon leave off to Tel Aviv. And based on their latest Instagram post, they seem to be ready to take on the challenge. Living for the female power on this photo! (Florian)
ZENA shares new version of “Like It” during dance rehearsals
Belarus’ ZENA shared what appears to be a new version of her Eurovision entry “Like It” on her Instagram profile. This edit has much a bold new style, turning the power pop number into edgy hip hop. How does the story continue? Hopefully this version will soon see the light of day. (Florian)
Oto Nemsadze will bring some high fashion to Tel Aviv
We all know Georgia’s Oto Nemsadze for his impressive vocal performance. But we should also be looking out for some of the fashion that he’ll be wearing on the Eurovision stage. With support from Georgian designer George Shaghasvilli, there’s definitely something interesting coming up! (Florian)
KEiiNO meet the Norwegian Minister of Culture
Norway’s KEiiNO had the honour of meeting the Norwegian Minister of Culture, Trine Skei Grande. She wished them best of luck for the competition in Tel Aviv. We’re sure they had the opportunity to exchange a few words on important matters. And in the year of indigenous languages it seems even more fitting to bring Sámi language to Israel! (Florian)
Ester Peony shares stylish body art
Romania’s Ester Peony is a woman of many facets. And in this new Instagram photo, she’s indeed showing a whole new side of hers! Not only can she nail dark and mysterious, she’s also rocking some more bright tones! Which one will we see on stage in Tel Aviv though? We’ll find out on a Monday… (Florian)
I want to be in that D Mol picture.
I wish wiwi would do an article on Tamara Todevska singing porud for a girl with Down Syndrome. I get that Chingiz posting shirtless videos is great, keep those dancing tiddies coming, but I really want to see a standalone article on that performance, it made me cry. And it’s on Tamara’s YouTube, so they should know about it.

They already talked about it in another Daily Digest.
Basically all the flops
Who doesn’t want a stone bust?! Lmao
I don’t want them to ruin “Home”. It’s already perfect.
Same here.
Hopefully, they’re not taking the opinions of ESC fans before the contest too seriously. “Home” is loved by some!
So Duncan was trolling H a t a r i.
Iceland Music News is clearly a project realated with Hatari, starting with the surrealistic intro and journalists to the visibly crafted contents. I can only love them.
It has been revealed that Katerine (Greece) will have on stage a double sided tableau vivant, created for her in Tel-Aviv from someone who has worked for Lady Gaga and X-Factor UK. She will have 5 more girls with her on stage (3 vocalists and 2 dancers-actresses) The staging in general will be very theatrical, with pink smoke, much like the videoclip but more mature and bold and will allegedly be reminiscent to a rennaisance painting of Bosch. There will also be some element in the performance linked to the Ancient Greek culture (could have something to do with ancient… Read more »
Fingers crossed! And generally for all the countries as I suppose the first days can really determine whether what they have actually prepared staging-wise can work or not. So good luck to them all.
Sounds really exciting! Thanks for the info.
Timebelle had also ancient culture. Let’s see if will work better for Katerine.
My first thought was Ivi Adamou in 2012 and she did pretty well in my opinion, considering her shaky vocals.
As a Greek I can confirm that Entries like Ivi Adamou, Eleftheria Eleftheriou, Loukas Yiorkas and others like Timebelle and Il Volo used cliche and quite tasteless greek graphics (columns, statues etc.) Katerine will be more alternative for sure 😉
I’m hopeful it will work better than timebelle’s tacky graphics hahaha!!! Katerine’s director who is also an actor and photographer has excellent taste! Check out her Instagram @efi_gousi
Also Katerine will wear a “victorian style” white dress 😉
“Victorian”???? That means bigger and more puffy than Miruna from Timebelle yellow dress. This is scary.
I dont think it will be puffy… Victorian is the word a greek journalist used but maybe it’s not so suitable… what I understood is something vintage, romantic and classy
Anyway we’ll find out soon enough
I love the humour factor of Hatari so much! They really bring Eurovision (circus) to a new level: Don’t take everything too seriously – just see the joke that’s in it too. It’s all a show.

@William Lee Adams, you forgot this in the daily digest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoVKpOodlos
Zero Gravity Acoustic version
They didn’t forget it. It just got released too late xD
ok 🙂 Maybe some reader likes to get the link today – anyhow 😉
It’s absurd the way that this Icelandic guy turns me on when I see him with that bdsm outfit. His face is perfect, he has a cute body, what a joy for my eyes
I am not interested in your sex live – but it seems you think it is an intersting information for us.
I expressed a funny and not too serious feeling in a very appropriate language. Someone said way more worse things than mine. The guy puts himself in an outfit that is inspired by bdsm, do you know what it means? It seems you think is a very serious information for you 🙂 bye grl
They can still change their songs at this point?!
It’s probably going to be something similar to what happened with Slovenia’s live version last year – so rather small edits that don’t change the instrumentation or such of the song!
