OGAE Poll 2021: Hungary gives 12 points to Switzerland

The Eurovision fan prediction poll results continue to pour in. The next club to reveal their votes in the OGAE Poll 2021 is OGAE Hungary, who award their douze points to Switzerland — strengthening Gjon’s Tears’ lead. This is the third set of 12 points that “Tout l’univers” has received.

The club of 23 Hungarian voters award their silver medal to France’s Barbara Pravi. “Voilà” picks up ten points and leaps up to fourth place overall. Meanwhile, eight points goes to the bookies’ favourite Destiny from Malta. “Je Me Casse” currently sits at third place overall.

Further down the board, Finland’s Blind Channel and Croatia’s Albina picked up their first points of the season.

OGAE Poll 2021

Votes from OGAE Hungary

  • Switzerland — 12 points
  • France — 10 points
  • Malta — 8 points
  • Lithuania — 7 points
  • Finland — 6 points
  • Ukraine — 5 points
  • San Marino — 4 points
  • Croatia — 3 points
  • Italy — 2 points
  • Azerbaijan — 1 point

OGAE Poll 2021 leaderboard — 16 April

With OGAE Hungary’s votes, there’s no change at the top. Switzerland sits firmly in first place. In second and third are Lithuania and Malta, with The Roop and Destiny separated by just one point. Meanwhile, France’s Barbara Pravi in fourth and San Marino’s Senhit in fifth round out the top five.

So far, only 17 countries have received points, leaving 22 countries on zero points. But everything could change — with 39 more OGAE clubs yet to deliver their points, it’s still all to play for!

1. Switzerland — 44 points

2. Lithuania — 34 points

3. Malta — 33 points

4. France — 21 points

5. San Marino — 19 points

6. Sweden — 18 points

(=) Cyprus — 18 points

8. Ukraine — 8 points

9. Azerbaijan — 7 points

10. Italy — 6 points

(=) Finland — 6 points

12. Iceland — 5 points

13. Estonia — 4 points

14. Croatia — 3 points

15. Romania — 2 points

(=) Greece — 2 points

(=) Israel — 2 points

Countries that are not listed are yet to receive points from any voting clubs.

Between now and Sunday 2 May, half of the groups voting in the OGAE Poll 2021 will reveal their points one by one. Then, the remaining groups will announce their points at the same time on Friday 7 May in a grand final video spectacle.

What do you think? Do you agree with OGAE Albania’s voting? Will Switzerland maintain its lead? Let us know in the comments below.

Yes if you are a member. All members of each respective ogae club are encouraged to vote – but not all do. I have given my votes to my branch at least and who knows, maybe they managed to impact the overall result.

B) Essociation isn’t a word.

A) Old balding gay Caucasians have the best music taste! That’s why OGAE was created.

B) I say ‘essociation’ because I refuse to use the word ‘ass’ in ‘association’, it’s a dirty word.

No.. These OGAE people just vote with their taste. The fact that mainly France, Lithuania, Malta and Switzerland get points isn’t because of the odds, it is because they are simply better than the others. Don’t be butt hurt because your opinions differ with others. If I was a OGAE voter and I was the only one of my country, I wouldn’t give Malta any points, but at least I am not selfish and can admit that Je Me Casse is a good song. I like Tout l’Univers and Voila, but if I didn’t like them, I at least would’ve… Read more »

Why is OGAE given a platform when they’re literally just Eurovision fans? People make it sound like they’re a professional jury is giving out votes. I don’t know why Wiwibloggs keep writing about them, but if they keep writing more, just ignore the posts instead of spamming comments.

They’re literally just groups of caucasian middle-aged men voting for their favourite songs… don’t take it seriously!

While I agree that it seems like the OGAE votes just follow the polls, I would argue that Tout l’univers is the the only song, apart from maybe Barbara Pravi’s, that could have a life outside of the Eurovision bubble. Obviously it has its similarities to Arcade (although that’s mostly in the use of falsetto and the bombastic production) but it distinguishes itself in that it’s just a proper song. In terms of actual songwriting it’s a pretty disappointing year otherwise. A lot of throwaways and cheap copies.

But you are wrong Tusse, and Måneskin are already hits on Spotify. So they already have lives outside. I think it is the same with Tix. I don’t think any of the two songs you are mentioning are hits yet even in their own countries. They are more like eurovision products..

Reply to  Helene

The winners of Melfest and Sanremo always become huge Spotify hits in their respective countries. That’s not an indicator of anything. Voices is a paint-by-numbers Eurovision ditty that gets its appeal from the performer, not the song. Måneskin’s entry is quite cool, but let’s be honest, that one wouldn’t make the chart in a million years either if it weren’t for Sanremo.

It seems like they don’t vote for who they like the best, but for who they believe they should like the best.

Surely if these songs are being voted for by fans this makes them appealing and therefore that is why the songs are riding high in the odds and are fan favourites. Remember the songs in the contest that win appeal to the majority of tastes not those that appeal to specialist tastes.

I can’t understand all this hate for favorites, I mean I don’t like Je Me Cass, but I don’t put a dislike everytime someone says somehting positive about her, since it’s just a matter of taste, but hating Destiny or Gjon or their songs just because they’re favorites is so ridicolous and disrespectful

So glad to see someone else writing it. Wiwibloggs should disable the disliking system. Everytime people are writing positive comments about Malta, ‘Je Me Casse’, Destiny or her place in the odds, you can be sure that they’re going to be instantly downvoted. And that’s unfair. I mean if you dont like something, just don’t pay attention to it.

I like Switzerland this year, I really really do. But as a winner I just don’t understand how it can be called it?
Sure if it ends up winning I won’t be angry, I’ll accept it and be delighted for the Swiss but I’m just not understanding the universal appeal for it in the fandom?
It’s like blanket wide love.
Top 10, definitely, Top 5 of course, but as a winner I just can’t imagine. The fandom has suddenly all decided in unison that they like French language indie ballads this year? But in other years they didn’t?

Exactly! 2018, 2013 and 2012 had OGAE winners win the whole contest too. Aside, OGAE winners placed 3rd in 2014, 3rd in 2015, 6th in 2016, 6th in 2017 and 2nd in 2019. So, not really disastrous results in any case.

There is like 90% of chance that Malta and Switzerland will both finish in top 10. Even if someone isn’t a fan of either song, they can see how their effect is on most listeners. Besides, Gjon and Destiny are both outstanding live performers. I’m not even saying that one of them will necessarily win (there are also France, Italy, San Marino, or even a country suddenly elevated by the staging (a’la Netherlands in 2014)), but they likely will have a very good result.
