A number of Eurovision stars are currently getting in the dancing mood, and one of those is Finland’s Krista Siegfrids. The Eurovision 2013 singer has traded in the microphone for a pair of dancing shoes as she competes on Tanssii Tähtien Kanssa 2021.

Tanssii Tähtien Kanssa (Dances With Stars) is the Finnish version of British television series Strictly Come Dancing. Celebrities from Finland learn the art of ballroom and Latin dancing, and then perform a different dance style each week to impress the judges and viewers at home.

Krista Siegfrids waltzes to “Nocturne”

Krista is partnered with professional dancer Anssi Heikkilä. During the programme’s second live show on Sunday, the pair took to the dancefloor for a waltz.

For Eurovision fans, this dance was extra noteworthy as Krista performed to “Nocturne” – Norway’s winning song from Eurovision 1995, performed by Secret Garden.

“Nocturne” is one of the most atmospheric songs to have graced the Eurovision stage. This made it the perfect choice to set the mood for Krista and Anssi’s beautiful and elegant waltz.

Krista wore a pale blue dress that flowed elegantly as the Finnish singer twirled around the ballroom and was lifted into the air for a couple of lifts.

The judges were certainly impressed by the pair’s performance. They awarded Krista and Anssi a total of 27 points, out of a possible 30. This put the duo in joint first position on the leaderboard.

After the public had voted, Krista and Anssi were declared safe from the first elimination of the season. They’ll take to the dancefloor once again next week.

Tanssii Tähtien Kanssa 2021: Week 1

Krista’s graceful waltz to “Nocturne” was in stark contrast to the high-energy jive that the Eurovision 2013 alum performed during the first live show.

Dancing to Wilson Pickett’s “Land of 1000 Dances”, Krista and Anssi let loose and had a clear spring in their step.

The pair won over the judges with their jive as well, also receiving 27 points. Having gained such high scores from the offset and topping the leaderboard in the first two weeks, it’s clear that Krista Siegfrids is an early frontrunner in the competition.

What do you make of Krista Siegfrids’s waltz to “Nocturne”? Are you excited to follow her Tanssii Tähtien Kanssa 2021 journey? Sound off in the comments below!

How interesting! I’ve read that also the Finnish winners of the first Eurovision Dance Contest have been involved in the contest at some point previous years. So, best of luck Krista!
