The time has come for Latvia to choose their act for Eurovision 2022. Eleven acts remain in the running, but by the end of Supernova 2022 one of them will emerge victorious.

Earlier this week, we asked you to vote for your favourites of those who are competing in the Supernova 2022 grand final.

A total of 1,504 votes were cast and there was a clear favourite.

Here are the results.

Note: This poll was done based on the ten acts who qualified from the semi-final on 5 February. More recently, broadcaster LTV has given Miks Dukurs a spot in the grand final following technical faults with his performance in the semi-final. Since this was a late addition, Miks is not included in the poll results.

Aminata is a favourite to win Supernova 2022

Taking the top spot in this Supernova 2022 poll is Aminata. She picked up 619 votes. That’s a strong 41.16% of the total.

After taking Latvia to sixth place at Eurovision 2015, she is hoping to make a return to the song contest. This time Aminata is bringing the ballad “I’m Letting You Go” and, for y’all, it is a clear standout from all the Supernova 2022 entries.

Due to a positive Covid-19 test result, Aminata was unable to perform in the studio for the semi-final, instead singing via a remote link from home. Hopefully we’ll be able to watch a fuller performance from the Latvian singer in the grand final and see just what she could deliver at Eurovision.

The only other Supernova 2022 act that got anywhere near to Aminata was Citi Zēni. Even then, they were a couple hundred votes behind, earning 397 votes (26.40% of all those cast).

The Latvian group have been spreading their eco-friendly message far and wide with “Eat Your Salad”. Many are jumping on board, particularly thanks to some attention grabbing lyrics. Will Citi Zēni convince the Latvian public to join their cause? Time will tell.

The rest of the field were way, way, way … way behind the top two.

Just scraping into the bronze medal position was RAUM. He received 78 votes (5.19%) for the song “Plans”.

Poll results: Who should win Latvia’s Supernova 2022?

  1. Aminata – “I’m Letting You Go”, 619 votes (41.16%)
  2. Citi Zēni – “Eat Your Salad”, 397 votes (26.40%)
  3. RAUM – “Plans”, 78 votes (5.19%)
  4. Inspo – “A Happy Place”, 77 votes (5.12%)
  5. Bermudu DivstĆ«ris – “Bad”, 69 votes (4.59%)
  6. Mēs JĆ«s MÄ«lam – “Rich Itch”, 67 votes (4.45%)
  7. Elīna Gluzunova – “Es pabiju tur”, 60 votes (3.99%)
  8. Miks Galvanovskis – “I’m Just a Sinner”, 48 votes (3.19%)
  9. BUJĀNS – “He, She, You & Me”, 46 votes (3.06%)
  10. Linda Ruơeniece – “Pay My Own Bills”, 43 votes (2.86%)

Total votes: 1,504

Aminata is Latvia’s only hope of reaching the final in Turin amidst all the mediocre and novelty songs.

Hmm I think I saw somewhere that aminata came sixth with the viewers, so I don’t know how big are her chances.

ESC fans really should stop assuming things and spreading rumors. They showed the current results halfway through the voting, anything could have happened after that. In addition, Aminata will perform live on stage tonight – that will be a huge boost. Also, the big televote favorites Bujans and Bermudu Divsturis will be killed by the juries. It is a race between Aminata and Citi Zeni (who were 3rd in the televote when they showed those current results, with just above 3% more votes than Aminata). What’s interesting is that “Rich Itch” is Spotify favorite in Latvia – it is #1… Read more »

Sorry, Citi Zeni was actually 4th at that moment with less than 2% more votes than Aminata. Miks Galvanovskis was 3rd, Inspo was 5th.

Most times in the Baltic’s, the results are way different in grand final. For example, in Estonia last year Andrei and Pluto in semi I think they got 12 from public and 0 from juries. Whilst in grand final they got 0 from public and 12 from juries, so it’s weird and that are the Baltic’s.

Aminata’s song reminds me very much of Tika’s “I let my heart break” (UMK 2020).
