SOA – one of the 12 acts competing in Eurovision France, c’est vous qui décidez 2022 – is a true family business. This self-taught brother and sister duo, who describe themselves as soul mates, have been dreaming of competing in Eurovision for many years. In an interview with wiwibloggs, they explain how they plan to achieve this.
With SOA, music is a family affair. The brother and sister duo, comprised of LudySoa and Nathan, have been singing together since the respective ages of nine and six. Completely self-taught, they have never taken singing lessons but are surrounded by many artists, singers and stylists.
In 2020, they participated on France’s The Voice la plus belle voix, joining the team of well-known French singer Pascal Obispo. He became their musical godfather and gave them a lot of advice. The two siblings compose their songs together and their differences have turned into strength: LudySoa has pop rock musical influences while Nathan prefers French and American rap.
Interview: SOA (Eurovision France 2022)
For SOA, having the potential opportunity to represent France at Eurovision is a dream. Indeed, LudySoa is a long time fan of the contest. Although they understand the immensity of the contest, the duo feels ready to take up the challenge:
“Eurovision is a dream for LudySoa, she has been following the editions for a long time. She loves the diversity of the songs, the musical cultures, the show….waouhhh everything is great.
“With our label, we decided to propose our song ‘Seule’, for the message and the strength of the text and the music. And it is true that it is crazy to be part of the finalists of this French selection 2022! Eurovision is huge, with millions of viewers across nearly 40 countries, but we are ready to take up the challenge!”

SOA intend to compete in the final of Eurovision France 2022 with the song “Seule” (“Alone”), a track written in 2019. While Nathan was singing the chorus in his room, his sister LudySoa fell in love with the lyrics whilst listening on the other side of the door. The two of them then completed the song, which speaks of of a universal feeling – that of loneliness:
“‘Seule’ is a song born in 2019, the same year as the creation of the group. The story is very simple, it was written in a day and a half. Nathan was in his room, LudySoa heard him singing the chorus and everything went together. Nathan’s verse came out right away and the next day LudySoa wrote her verse. The song was finished.
“Originally, Nathan had written it for himself. He wanted to put into words a feeling that we have all had at one time: loneliness. And even in those moments, there is always hope: ‘you will find your place, and even the way to leave your mark’. And we realized that this message could help many people beyond the borders! Eurovision is a great showcase to travel and transmit this message. Bringing comfort and courage to everyone, through our beautiful French language, would be wonderful!”

If the public were to retain only one thing from their song, SOA would like it to be a message of hope:
“Life is like a cycle, today you may feel ‘Alone’ but tomorrow ‘you’ll manage to find your place’. You are not alone.”
To encourage them, Nathan and LudySoa can count on the support of another duo who participated in the previous edition of Eurovision France – 21 Juin Le Duo.
“21 Juin Le Duo sent us a message of encouragement, it’s so cool!”
In addition, SOA, as well-informed fans of the contest, have particularly admired two previous entrants:
“The performances that we liked the most of all the French representatives are Bilal Hassani and Madame Monsieur!”

Extremely fused with one another, the brother and sister hope that their unique relationship will manage to differentiate them from the other 11 acts. They also want to stand out because of their rhythmic and energetic song:
“What makes us different from the others is this strength of being two and as brother and sister. We are super fusional and generous in everyday life, as on stage! And we feel this fusion in the text and in the music of our song. ‘Seule’ is about loneliness but it’s not sad; on the contrary, it’s super rhythmic, it boosts and gives energy to get up again!”
Furthermore, the two young artists want to feel in tandem with their audience, so Nathan and LudySoa’s mantra is to match their generosity:
“To give to others is to give to yourself!”

The young singers warn us in advance that the audience would not be ready for their staging. So watch out because they promise a huge surprise!
“The public is really not ready for what we prepare for them, and the staging of crazy … We do not want to say anything more about the show of March 5, SURPRISE!”
If they win Eurovision France 2022, they assure us their first reaction will be to cry loudly, then they will get back to work to represent France on the Eurovision stage:
“So if we win the final, we’ll need a little time to digest the news because we’ll cry for sure. But then, we’ll be ready to carry our song and the colours of France high in this contest by preparing an even crazier show and win the title!”
To conclude, SOA would like to send a message to all those who have fallen in love with their song:
“Hello it is SOA, a group of brother and sister. We are ready to set fire to make France win with our song ‘Seule’!”
Are you excited for SOA’s performance at Eurovision France, c’est vous qui décidez 2022? Can “Seule” go on to win it all? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below!
The first time I listened to them, I thought: “wow, what an harmony!”. And then, I remembered two old documentaries I saw on Arte TV about the Bee Gees and the Carpenters in which they explained that within bands/choirs, the best harmony possible was between brothers and sisters. This now makes even more sense.
Can’t wait to find out who will represent us this year! My heart oscillates between SOA, Elliott, Pauline and Cyprien. But if viewers could vote during the evening, I think that the Bretons (who are very good at mobilizing) will vote massively for Alvan & Aez. As much as last year Barbara was the clear favourite, as much this year in my opinion the difference will be decided by very few votes.
SOA is so great, Elliott too, Pauline too, Cyprien too… and Marius as well 🙂 I can’t wait either!
Thanks for this article. That’s amazing that they are self-taught in music.
This song has its own charm and also has an immediate impact, I was already in love with it in my first listen! :3
This one’s my favorite from France alongside Fulenn and Chut, but I feel I prefer this one because of its charm 🙂
I hope they will win!
I really love the family vibes coming from them and the ‘Ma Famille’ song. I suspect these two will be the ones going to Turin given their overwhelming support and the fact that their song is immediately more accessable to the potential jury than Fuelenn if we look at the track record, the ethnic songs don’t tend to do as well with them, but we’ll see. Regardless, the song is very uplifting and alongside Give that Wolf a Banana and Hope will inspire people to be more positive despite the bad things happening around the world. This duo are a… Read more »
The song is beautiful, but it sounds very generic, especially in chorus.
”Seule” and ”Chut” are my favourite songs from the French selection.
Wiwibloggs tends to write articles about artists which won’t do as well as we, the
community, think they will. That SOA is interviewed and has a wiwibloggs page, means this could potentially be the Andriamad situation.
I hope this is not the case for SOA though, because SOA is one of the 3 acts of C’est Vous Qui Décidez L’Eurovision I’d like to win the NF.
There will be an article for each 12 acts during the week I guess so don’t be afraid for the trend you point.
SOA is one of the favourites. In fact, i’m pretty sure Seule as better odds of winning than Fuelenn right now!
SOA means STD in Dutch.. Just putting it out there, like the song tho
And in portuguese it means “sounds” for “the Sound of Beauty” it would be perfect 😉
I must say the lyrical content of this song has touched me perhaps more than any other song this year, and from artists so young, I have so much respect. They have tapped into a universal human truth and they articulate it with such honesty, I am very impressed. It helps that the words fuse with the uplifting thrust of the music, creating a very powerful emotional impact. To anyone struggling out there, try to cling on to these words, there is a lot of truth in them.
