benidorm fest

Benidorm Fest returns in 2024 as Spain’s Eurovision selection, but the city is having to share the spotlight a little this time around because it’s Sevilla that will host the big reveal of the 16 artists competing for the ticket to Malmö. ¡Vamo’ allá!

The Andalusian capital is hosting the Latin Grammy Awards 2023 on November 16, and a few days earlier, Spanish broadcaster RTVE will announce its Eurovision hopefuls there.

Ahead of the awards show, RTVE has prepared a full weekend of activities in order to introduce next year’s Benidorm Fest stars. They will all come to Sevilla for a big reveal on Saturday November 11 at 18.30 CET live from Teatro Alameda.

Then on Sunday, it’s time for the interviews with the artists. wiwibloggs will be around in Sevilla, so stay tuned for our coverage!

These 16 hopefuls will come out of the 825 songs that Spanish television received. Those 825 songs represent the breadth and depth of musical culture within Spain. Producers say they received the largest number of musical styles ever.

“There are several proposals for reggaeton, trap, urban and electronic music, genres that were not predominant in previous years,” they write. “In addition, there has been an increase in the number of proposals in co-official languages.”

RTVE’s committee of experts are currently working their way through the entries. As you’ll remember, Benidorm Fest alum Rayden is one of them.

Sixteen acts will ultimately advance to Benidorm Fest 2024, which will stage its semi-finals on January 30 and February 1, with the final to follow on February 3.

I just want variety of musical styles. Spaniards have had reggaeton, urban and trap shoved down their throats for too long.

same, Benidorm Fest is a way better selection method for them than Operation Triunfo

hope Efecto Pasillo take part, i like them, good fun band, very funky sound, they recently also worked with 2015ESC act Edurne on ”Como Tu” which was also good fun
