Eesti Laul is closing its lucky thirteenth edition this Saturday. Some new faces and old favourites, including three former winners, are in the mix for the right to represent Estonia at Eurovision 2021.

Following the two semi-finals, the bookmakers have been deciding on who has the best odds of winning Eesti Laul 2021. However, the bookies haven’t shifted their thoughts much since the artists were initially announced.

Eesti Laul 2021: Uku Suviste is the bookies’ favourite to win

Uku Suviste is the clear favourite to win with his song “The Lucky One”. Bettson has the singer with odds of 9/5.

The four-time Eesti Laul competitor won last year’s event after placing second the year before. Sadly, he never got to perform his winning song “What Love Is” at Eurovision due to the contest’s cancellation. But he’s back and standing strong with the hope of finally getting his chance in 2021.

Can Uku follow The Roop’s example in Lithuania and win the ticket to Rotterdam twice in a row?

Second with the bookies is Koit Toome and “We Could Have Been Beautiful”, at 3/1. The veteran singer is looking to wave the Estonian flag for the third time, after 1996 and 2017. His old-school ballad has impressed fans as well as the bookies. Here’s hoping he’s found his Verona.

A close third is Juri Pootsmann, who sits at odds of 4/1 with his song “Magus melanhoolia”. The young baritone won Eesti Laul back in 2016, but crashed out of Eurovision in last place in the semi-final. His song this year is developing a strong fan following, so there’s hope this will be a year of redemption for him.

At fourth place is the first newcomer on the list. Kadri Voorand isn’t well-known outside Estonia, but her piano-heavy song “Energy” is gaining momentum by the day. She’s emerged as something of an outsider in the mix, and at 7/1, it’s very possible she can make a snatch for victory.

And at fifth is Suured tudrukud and “Heaven’s Not That Far Tonight”. This song was composed by fellow finalists Koit Toome and Karl Killing. The upbeat disco-inspired bop is certainly getting a following, and the bookies are optimistic at 10/1.

At the other end, we have Hans Nayna and Karl Killing both at 59/1. However, this is an open year for Eesti Laul with many varied genres and a lot of stars. A surprise is definitely on the cards.

Eesti Laul 2021 Odds – Grand Final

  1. Uku Suviste –  1.80

How the odds work

The decimal odds number represents the amount you win for every krone/euro/dollar bet. The number represents the total payout, rather than the profit. Your stake is already included in the decimal number.

Taking odds of 1.90 as an example, for every €1.00 you bet, you will get back €1.90 if you win. This includes 90 cents profit plus your original one euro bet.

Bookmakers set odds by looking at factors such as prior form, statistics, historical precedents, expert opinion and any number of other elements which could influence the result in question. After this analysis, the bookies will be left with what they deem to be the most accurate possible true odds of any outcome occurring. As these factors are always shifting, the bookies’ odds will remain in flux.

Do you agree with the odds? Are you liking Uku Suviste’s song? Do you prefer one of the outsiders? Let us know below!

I loved Jüri. I hope he makes his next CD in this style, it is modern and different. Would love to listen more of this. His song was strongest, but somehow Wingman was not bad and the boys in their quarantine were so cute. I didn´t know Pluuto is so adorable

Nice review! What do you think of the songs by Juri and Koit?

Uku is the only one that can bring a top 10 result for Estonia. He has a great song this year.

I mean it’s only fair if Uku returns to Rotterdam, but Jüri’s song and staging is better.

If Uku could win Eesti Laul last year with What Love Is than I don’t see why he won’t win this year with arguably a better song and staging. I agree that the material is not particularly fresh or daring, but he clearly really wants to sing at Eurovision and I’m sure that his obvious passion, and the missed chance of last year, will endear him even further with the voting public. I would rather Estonia send Juri, who will surely qualify to the GF this year. For me, Magus melanhoolia is much more interesting as a song and concept.… Read more »

Guys, please if Uku wins, do NOT let this be a TIX situation. I think we are all forgetting that Uku is the rightful representative of Estonia and deserves to go to Eurovision even if his song isn’t the best in the selection. Personally Juri is my winner amongst the finalists but I think I already know for a fact that Uku is gonna win so PLEASE don’t hate him if he does.

He was the rightful representative last year.
But I am not going to hate him if he win. He has a better song than last year, a good staging and is a more safe choice than Juri for eurovision.

If “everyone in Norway” knew TIX would win, it’s surprising that hundreds of thousands of Norwegians voted for KEiiNO.

They voted because they liked the song and they wanted to support it. That’s why we have elections at first place….

Elections are free to vote in, TV televotes are not free.

I think it’s very unlikely that hundreds of thousands people waste their money on a televote in the total expectation that another artist will win. Of course, you’re free to think otherwise 🙂

Uku also came second in the wiwibloggs poll—so his popularity and favour is not all about the wooden towns and people who don’t use or have access to YouTube and Spotify.

Wooden towns is a term I’m familiar with—I don’t know which country claims the most wooden of wooden towns though 😉

Really think it’s fair for Uku to go to Eurovision after last year’s cancelation but to me The Lucky One is inferior to Magus Melanhoolia.. Juri ftw

Those are all very low, which reflects the quality of the selection, imo.

I know, but 12k for the most recent winner is really low.
