We now have over half of the songs for Eurovision 2023, with 21 countries having chosen their entry for the contest so far.
Over the next fortnight or so we’ll finally be able to hear the rest. But before they arrive, it’s time to see who our readers are loving at the moment.
On Monday, we opened up our latest poll to find out your favourite Eurovision 2023 act so far. A total of 11,657 votes were cast. After tallying everything up, we can now reveal the results.
Finland’s Käärijä is a favourite in Eurovision 2023 so far
Debuting straight at number one is Käärijä from Finland. He’s got many fans shouting “Cha Cha Cha” since winning UMK 2023 at the weekend. Bringing the crazy party spirit, Käärijä delivers an iconic song, iconic look, and all around iconic performance.
The Finnish star was the outright winner of this poll. He scooped up 2,700 votes, which is 23.16% of all those cast. Käärijä has started his Eurovision 2023 journey in a strong fashion.
One of the most consistent acts in this poll series is Norway’s Alessandra. She’s landed in the top three ever since she was first included. After winning initially, she fell to third last time. But now Alessandra rises again and completes the full round of medals, securing silver this time around.
“Queen of Kings” remains the most viral song of Eurovision 2023 so far and it continues to receive love. Alessandra earned 1,228 votes, which is 10.53% of the total.
The only other act to be awarded more than 1,000 votes is La Zarra. Canadian-born but now representing France at Eurovision 2023, the star combines classical French motifs with a retro disco beat for “Évidemment”. It’s a combination that has got many fans hooked, allowing her to finish third in our poll.
La Zarra’s “Évidemment” picked up 1,159 votes — that’s 9.94% of the total.

Do you agree with the results? Is Käärijä your top pick of Eurovision 2023 so far? Let us know in the comments below.
Finland’s song is a mess. And wtf was he wearing? He looked like a kid who got given hulk arms for Xmas.
Like Norway’s and Austria’s songs.
My current top 10
Last place Poland.
My favorites are Italy, Finland and Netherlands.
Same top 3, slightly different order
Feminin feminin phenomenal…Israel for sure gonna be phenomenal…
After many years of bottom positions and being deservingly forgotten at Eurovision, that my country, Spain, is top 5 two years in a row IS a huge success for me. I think Finland, Norway are a great top 2 (i would have Norway, Finland though).
Os deseo mucha suerte a Eurovision, querido amigos. Voy a cruzar mis dedos por la gran cantante Blanca Paloma.
Saludos desde Alemania
Loreen, Käärijä and La Zarra the only entries I listen to so far!
Loreen is not an entry but a possible entry.
I’m surprised the poll is so close. I’d expect Finland to get a much higher result in this field, if only these 21 songs were presented in May.
Total Votes: 11,657
(So, that would be why.)
Oh, and I now know what’s happening with ticket sales.
I’m surprised, that had got receive this much positive hype from ‘conservative’ fans being categorized as a ‘humorous’ entry?
Finland is not in my Top 10.
For now i love Finland,Norway,Czechia and Lithuania.France and Australia are good too.
I really don’t get Norway hype tbh
Alessandra is very good. The song is not.
I’m talking about the song. Nothing wrong about her.
I know. I jus think she is the reason the song is popular.
It’s catchy, it’s fun, she sells it. Not a masterpiece, but a cool song nonetheless.
Tbh I really love the song,
I love listening to norwegian party genre in general and the fast beat that’s being heard throughout the song (and also in Jone’s ekko inni meg which was my favourite in this year’s MGP) just drives me in like crazy.
So I’m guessing that could be the reason that it also attracts other people.
Hope I helped!
I don’t get the Finland hype.
I do! It’s a rare masterpiece in 2023 ESC!
Maybe u running to the Hills still 🙁 😀
It’s like some kind of rip off of the Pirates Of The Caribbean- movie soundtrack. I love her voice though, she’s a great singer.
RTS released recap of first semi-final…

I’d like if Finland used all live vocals for Liverpool. They are so prominent in the song, it feels wrong that they are not. This “temporary” Covid rule has gotten out of hand. Other than that, I love the song and performance.
Who really cares about these polls ?? We all know by experience that everything can happen (I guess Iceland or Switzerland were on last places here one year ago ..)
So Gustafson wil qualify ..as well as Blanka btw
Mouahahaha
Gustaf sorry 🙂
Blanka qualifying: O RLY?
As always, my taste differ from most comments here, but that’s fine with me. Out of the 21 entries so far I have Australia and Norway at the top and Finland and Croatia at the bottom of my list.
Finland, Norway and Croatia. The rest is embarrassing.
My current list so far
Goatrijä
We’ve got Goatrijä, Marco Mengoatni, Goatna and soon Mimigoat and Goateen will also be selected.
I’m glad the whole Croatia thing was just a one-time occurrence, lol
The baltics sticking together
For me Finland is just ok, idk excitement for IT, but everyone has other taste
OT the Netherlands release their song Burning Daylight this evening at 19.15 hour. Not
Important enough to mention?
They will when it happens.
The results are fine by me, i would expect denmark to be higher.
Finland so far is the most unique, sweden when it comes out(it will be tatoo for sure) should not take tge first place imo, the visual and vocal amazing but the song it self doesnt deserve first place, because its not that good and because its copied from the winner takes it all by abba.
Waiting for israel with unicorn, i think its the last song that can compete for the win
And norway imo should not be second, not my taste, i dont feel anything for that song
You’re sleeping on Armenia and the UK
I have no idea what the uk gonna bring but usually after strong entry there is a drop but lets see, regarding armenia we will have to see but currently im not really impressed from the artist selection
It seems the Finnish song has strong influence by the German Eskimo Callboy. Very similar sound.
Who’s E**imo Callboy and why are they using slurs?
well known German band…have a look on some of their songs on Youtube.
They changed their name to Electric Callboy.
Similar, but not the same
Who else?! Norway still 2nd and Croatia 8th…I must be missing something, not sure what exactly!
Can it be? Poland 20/21! Will Blanka make Wiwibloggs history by becoming the first female artist with a mainstream uptempo track not to score well on Wiwi Jury and among fans. This is the genre that fans don’t dislike even when it’s mediocre (see – Belarus 2019). But Jann was so shamelessly robbed that I fully understand.
I’m shocked that somebody were actually voting for «solo» in this battle for the very last place with San Marino hehe
Same. San Marino still has it in a bag (unless Iceland actually goes for OK), but Poland is a safe penultimate place thus far.
I do not think Poland is finishing last with televote only system. Will catch a decent amount of points from diaspora, and I am sure some of the countries will give it lower points as well.
I’m talking about my personal list. Poland can even qualify if she fixes her vocals due to not many countries having female uptempo bops thus far. Audiences craving for that might satisfy even with this.
I admit I like female pop songs, and I liked Zena’s song and was rooting for her to qualify to the final. Solo however I dislike yes its op but so boring and lackluster.
Poland: One of the worst singing skills ever at ESC….
Thanks for the endorsement, Ari. I really hope we can qualify at least this time around. I’d be happy with top 20, but really happy if we could even think of top 10.
I think you really should think bigger, dear. This is a winning stuff!
I’m dropping some sms for it in the SF1 ))
You know what? Although Croatia is not in my top 5 at the moment, it’s also growing on me (being surrounded by croats everyday probably helps, though). But as for now my first place is probably gonna remain either Czechia or Finland 🙂
One thing I really DONT like about the competition is that before we even have all countires choosen their songs, a favorite or absolutely rigged odds about the winner. For example Sweden is first on the list and they dont even have the song yet. Pointless, because it creates an “air” or unfair competition. Let us calm down, and have a time to believe in our OWN country without knowing who “will win”.
Finland is ok this year but is so so overrated at the start.
“It creates an “air” or unfair competition” – Tell that to Markus and Martinus! They can’t breath without that air!
Do you know what odds are? It is gambling. People put their money on the country they think will win, so that they win money. The more people put their money on a country, the higher that country is in the odds. Betting agencies shorten the odds for countries who are bet on the most, so that the agency does not lose too much money if that country ends up winning. If you were to place on a bet on Albania right now, and Albania would end up winning, you would win A LOT. But we all know that it… Read more »
Not really, the odds are made according the market. In this market there are certainly not millions and millions of people betting. It’s not representative, it COULD give a vague idea of what COULD happen in May if the contest took place NOW. In this market there’s an amount of money, and the money is putted on some countries according some statistics, but only for the moment M or for now if you want. It doesn’t represent what will happen in May, as we are still not in May. And the statistics are made to be broken. That’s why when… Read more »
Sweden are often high in the odds because we know what we will get in May. The performance is often Eurovision- ready. So it’s easier to predict perhaps. No, we don’t have a winner of Melodifestivalen yet, but Loreen probobly is going to be the Swedish representative based on reactions everywhere. I can’t see a different outcome right now and I think I’m not the only one. The odds is a reflection of that.
Rubbish song
I’m really not fond of Cha Cha Cha myself but I get why people love it and I don’t think it doesn’t deserve the hype it gets. Finland’s got balls sending something as gutsy as this. We’ll see if this does as well as the odds currently predict it will
I’ve really tried – I really have – and I don’t get it. This cha-cha-cha entry is to me just utter rubbish. Realise I’m very much on my own in this!
Eurovision has definitely hit rock bottom.
Then I hope you spent May 14th doing something else….Take care
I agree that overhype loreen too much. Thank god for kaarija
Cha Cha Cha has grown on me. But I like mostly the first part of the song. But hey, it’s the best song so far. And I miss Jann with Gladiator 🙁 (he’s also gorgeus)
Gorgeous 😀
I feel about Kaarija the same way I felt about the Roop with On fire in 2020… my absolute winner and a winner to a lot of fans, but I worry he will struggle with getting jury points as some may find him “unprofessional” (I don’t think that btw, Kaarija is my winner of the decade)
I think we’ll be surprised by the juries. They are not as uptight as the fans think. Finland certainly won’t win the juries vote but I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets a top 10.
With tone deaf juries maybe and if they have instructions/orders from the EBU to let it happen.
I think the fact he won with the juries is evidence that he’ll do decently. I mean, the song’s a subversive masterpiece by objective standards, so hopefully the juries will appreciate that!
What a horrible song. ?
March song release schedule:

Unscheduled:
-UK
-Azerbaijan
-Greece

Add march 9th for Armenia
Out of all the new entries, that’s the probably the one I’m the most excited for. Brunette has a lovely voice, but I feel like she’d shine with something sultry.
Uk is also gonna have female artist.
It’s not Rina tho unfortunately:(
I also just listened to Iru’s latest song “idea”, and if her song is anywhere like that, it should easily qualify
As if qualifying from SF2 is an achievement lmao.
Welcome to March. There are 21 acts with songs confirmed so far. General ticket sales haven’t opened yet, and this is starting to become a worry for some fans. Is there an update on that?
I have a feeling bbc only wants to announce the tickets after the british artist and song has been announced.
Bbc Eurovision have announced there is an announcement at 8am tomorrow on bbc sounds Eurocast podcast…also Graham Norton is on the one show on bbc one at 7pm tonight so he might have an update too.
Thanks. Haha, amazing that this announcement was revealed just hours after I started nudging the forums. A remarkable coincidence! 😀
Quick, ask the universe for some lottery number! 😛
OT: Thoughts on Poland’s national final scandal?
I am not sure whether the ‘scandal’ refers to something besides the Polish jury (intentionally) sabotaging Jann’s chance to ESC. But if so, I personally have come through that sorrow and trauma. The current Blanka’s song is simply something I cannot care any less: If it qualifies, congrats to dear Polish people. If it does not, congrats to the Polish jury. Trying to be optimistic, I have to say Jann’s performance did not fully live up to the song either. So to speak, I sincerely hope Jann will come back with everything better – the vocal, the staging, and even… Read more »
I am thinking because this is now becoming the biggest scandal of the NF season, the EBU MAY have to force their hand in. Jann can certainly come back for another country and do well but Poland need to change their system.
An entry which gives the impression that it’s subtly promoting significant alcohol consumption, with a performer that clearly struggles vocally with the entire second half of the song, getting nearly 25% of the votes from this poll… Well done, eurofans!
girl what
A: It’s doing the polar opposite of promoting significant alcohol consumption
B: Kaarija doesn’t vocally struggle at all
I know that this entry has already got an army of fanboys who think it is perfection well and truly, so I quickly realize that it’s completely pointless even trying to reason with them.
Totally agree! I try to understand where the positive reception is coming from – to my ear it’s just utter rubbish! Must check my hearing, I think!!!
Watch out, don’t you dare speak the truth here! lol
You’re just reaching for something here. It’s impossible to say he struggled vocally because his voice mixed with the backing track to the point you almost couldn’t distinguish which is which. Chances are high that the same will happen at Eurovision, so there is no point discussing his vocals. The song was never about the vocals anyway, that’s not any part of the reason why people love it. On the promoting “significant alcohol consumption” – I personally don’t drink, I’ve never been drunk, but that doesn’t stop me from understanding the meaning of the song. Since when is drinking at… Read more »
There is no point in discussing the vocals because he’s already doing a good job at disguising he’s barely a singer, so you’re telling me to just ignore it, ahaha, okay… I also read the translated version and it does give the impression that the character needs to get off his face drunk first in order to let loose, but obviously I can’t understand Finnish, so that’s why I’m only framing it as such, that is what it seems like.
He’s not a singer. He’s a rapper. And Cha Cha Cha is amazing. Go listen to Norway or whatever outdated music is your jam.
Same here.
Spanish will be wailing at you stop betting on us we haven’t won since 1969
It’s just his voice is all the time covered with the pre-recorded vocals. Once again this shouldn’t be allowed but we know that the original EBU statement for justifying pre-recorded vocals was just BS. Imagine how atrocious it would sound has he have to sing 100% live on a pure musical soundtrack.
If backing tracks were not allowed Käärijä would of course bring his two hype men to sing and rap the backgrounds, as they does in his gigs.
Kaarija slayed!
