Over the holidays we were so busy buying presents and eating gingerbread that we overlooked a major development in Austria. Conchita Wurst, the Austrian representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014, appeared in public without her beard! Conchita brought her new style to the popular U4-party just before Christmas.
Conchita’s strong voice is one reason that Austrian Eurovision fans love her. Her trademark beard is another. Was Conchita taking the first step towards a Eurovision makeover? Could it be a response to all the drama over her selection in Russia and Belarus?
No, no. In fact she seemed amused when party-goers asked, “Is this the new Wurst?”
“Don’t you see it? I’m Donatella Versace!” the drag artist said with a big smile on her face. “This look is only for one night! It would be really stupid to kill the Wurst before Eurovision! I would like to refine myself. Who knows, maybe in the future I’ll be wearing a white wig?”
Now we can be sure that Conchita won’t make any big changes to her apperance before Eurovision and will stand on stage bearded….just like she did in the national final in 2012 when she sang the song “Thats what I am”, which placed second behind the “Trackshittaz“.

I won’t judge until I hear her(his, her, I don’t even know anymore) song. Hopefully is more substantial than the 2012 effort.
With or without a beard … I just would like to believe that this “Conchita” dude will have a great song and sing wonderful (which I doubt …and I cannot imagine any other thing but he singing as if he was a woman, when actually he is a guy: being yourself does matter when It comes to music more than portraying characters that mislead listeners from the music aspect of the performance).
