In February Ceska Televize announced that Marta Jandova and Vaclav Noid Barta will represent the Czech Republic at Eurovision 2015 (following the country’s five-year absence from the contest). Today they finally revealed their entry “Hope Never Dies”. And we can happily say that it is an epic comeback!
You can listen to the song HERE!
The song tells the story of a couple facing difficulties, but in the end they overcome it to reach a happy end. It is powerful ballad enhanced by the incredible vocal combination of Vaclav and Marta. Their voices were meant for each other. And the song itself is breathtaking! “Hope Never Dies” was composed by Vaclav himself, while the text was written by Tereza Soralova.
Our reactions
Hope Never Dies – Lyrics
Wait for me, don’t cross the sea of pain
Wait for me, I’m lost I’ve gone astray
Ravens calling my name, their wings so dark
Soon they’ll take me away, I have their mark
They never miss their prey
There is no light to pray for
Cold and dim are the skies
Wounded lying
Running out of life
In your eyes I could see
Our hopes and our future
Now we must let go
Find me where the night turns into day
Your love as a torch shows us the way
How to be whole again
There is no light to pray for
Cold and dim are the skies
Wounded, lying
Running out of life
In your eyes I could see
Our hopes and our future
Now we must let go
Must let go, must let fade away
Or we can rise and fight
For a light to live for
Fire in our hearts
Through our pain
Through all the lies
We will walk, walk reborn
Hope never dies
Never let me go
What do y’all think about the song? Can it bring Czech Republic to the final? Let us know!
Hey, I really like this song and I wish best to our czech singers!
Pro ?eské nadšence: Zvu vás k návšt?v? mého blogu, kde píšu o Eurovision. Spousta zajímavostí o ú?astnících! 🙂
These wiwi reviews are such a waste of lifetime. Completely clueless guys judge a song by their basic tastes and publish it on the internet and hope to become famous for that. It’s hilarious and repelling at the same time.

This one transports me back to 2008. Seriously, it sounds like a Eurovision song which could’ve been heard in the 2008 contest, which is fine by me. That is to say, though, that it’s a typical Eurovision ballad. Vocalists stronger than usual, but they don’t really harmonize much at all in this one, which I find strange. In any case, it should provide for a really good live performance.
I actually agree with bavarson this time in that it’s reminiscent of Slovakia’s “Let’tmou,” but this entry’s vocalists have way more of a rock feel.
Love their rocky husky voices ….. They blend together beautifully !!!!
Better than Serbia, Greece, Romania, Hungary, Finland, UK, Portugal, Belarus, Malta, Germany and a few more.
I want them to connect and stage this the right way so it gets to be a bit more memorable !!!!!
First Romania and Poland, now Belgium and Czech Republic, we get a lot of good songs recently. It must be a compensation for UK. 🙂
Whoever said that CR 2015 reminds of Slovakia 2009 is right. I like both songs.
I don’t know..I don’t see this along it to the finals :/
I like it a lot
They are both one of best singers of this year edition. If you will hear Marta live, you will love her like whole Germany.
It’s very edgy and I do like that. I don’t think it has the potential to win like I had hoped when I heard of CR’s return but this definitely could qualify with the momentum they’ve built due to their return and the jury vote which I expect this to score high with. Surprisingly, I prefer Václav’s parts more than Marta’s.
Good song, good luck!
Not really liking their voices it. I think the song could work if they had the singers with the right voices. Who knows, maybe its a grower. But ESC night is only 1-time listen for most viewers.
there best song yet, and that’s saying a lot, will qualify but wont challenge

I’d like to think that the Czech Republic will qualify this year. They may, but if they do they won’t probably make the left side in the final. But it’s not bad.
Semi 2 – My Rankings:
1) Lithuania
2) Malta
3) Ireland
4) Latvia
5) Iceland
6) Poland
7) Czech Republic
8) Slovenia
9) Portugal
10) Switzerland
11) Cyprus
If Norway pick “A Monster like me” though it’ll go to #1 (as may Sweden with “Heroes”)
I’m not sure about this one. It’s decent, but nothing special.
I feel like as though the song would be great as either of them going solo but now its a bit flat. I must say its getting harder and harder to rank the songs now as theyre all of a Strong calibre. I don’t think the problem is that this year is weak, it’s just that the songs (except Finland and UK) are about the same.
This is soo good. It’s a good sign that eurofans do not cream all over it. That means it won’t get the curse of the fan favorite.
Czech Republic will definitely qualify to the final. They need to make a spectacular performance
I don’t like it at all. It’s definitely the Czech Republic’s best effort so far, no doubt about that, but I feel like there is no hook to the song and it just drags on and on and on. I hate their voice too, they don’t match very well.
I do hope they qualify though, just for the sake of keeping the country in the contest the next year.
Still waiting on the song from the best duo in this competition: San Marino! lol, only kidding. But I am interested in SM’s song.
I think everyone should just vote in the semifinal, because it is about keeping them in the contest. They can make the final and get some vote from everybody, just for the comeback.
Another meh for me.
horrible
It was really difficult for me to listen to the whole song. Sorry, the Czech Republic, but unfrotunately, it is a very dated song and I’m worried you won’t qualify this year again. Such a surprising comeback and such a disappointing song:(
it’s pretty great it gets better at the second listen i really hope they will qualify but i’m not sure if they will:/
It’s so very similar to Slovakia from ESC 2009.
nice song, i like it, and i am agree with those who say that a little bit of rock will be much better to make the song stand out but is ok with me
I really love this song!
Their vocals are amazing and their voices fit good together!
Finally Czech Republic takes it seriously and send an amazing song.
Currently in my Top 3, could grow or sink. I don’t know 😀
Their voices, their looks, the fact that they are a male-female duo and that the czechs have been out for so long, so the EBU might want to entice them back like Italy in 2011, might bring this to the final. I don’t think it’s a great or original song, but it definitely provides the opportunity for a memorable live. I am pretty tired to hear that the contest is full of ballads this year blah blah blah. It simply is not true. This is is just the eightth ballad out of the 30 songs we know so far (Greece,… Read more »
I think Czech Republic will get to the final for the first time. I really like Vaclav’s voice, bit of a rock vibe.
Am I the only one that feels that Vaclav should have went solo here? Either way I like the song. Thank you Czech Rep. for taking it seriously this year 🙂
Best song for Czech for a long time – 8th-10th place in semis
It doesn’t matter…Even if its not that good as we eurofans claim it has chance to still qualify and not do bad as all debends on the actual competition and overall the general level quality of the 40 entries in Diamond Vision..
If there are mostly not good/mediocre/weak entries a song like this can definitely stand out…
It goes like this actually…
From the blind ones the one eye { Illuminator! 😉 <3 } stands out! <3
This song is actually spectacular. Only Edurne and Elina & Stig have given me more winner vibes than Marta & Vaclav – I wouldn’t count this one out! <3
Are we going to force them to remaster this song, too?
Not bad at all song…It is possible qualifier finalist…

I kinda doubt this will qualify. Firstly, it’s not an amazing song and at times they instrumental is louder than the vocals, so I can’t hear them at all. Secondly, they have not been at ESC enough for bloc voting to affect them. So any good performance could be let down from people not being interested in them. Thirdly, this isn’t a jury friendly song, and they may prefer other ballads/duets over this one.
IS NOT BAD THEY VOICES ARE GREATH ESPECIALY HE, BUT MORE ROCK WILL BE WONDERFUL BECAUSE THE MUSIC NEED MORE BODY. GOOD LOOK BUT WILL BE GREAT TO GO TO THE FINAL.
lollalo: There is ‘depressing’ going nowhere and there is ‘depressing’ with an added artistic value. Even a ‘depressing’ song can have its redeeming values depending on style and substance. The Czech ballad doesn’t musically convey the notion that ‘hope never dies’: Hope died after the first verse and chorus.
I have lots to say about this but this is all I’ll say: meh,not necessarily bad,but I’m not a fan
Ballad. Again. WHAT’S WRONG!?
Their edgy rock vocals are great, btw. BUT, this song, even though ballad should have had a rockier side. Can someone please made that version? 🙂
This is an awesome song. One of my favourite ballads this year. This is not the typical cheesy ballad. I really like their voices. This also has enough material to give an amazing staging, along with Vaclav and Marta’s look, i’m sure this is gonna be so good. I hope they make it to the final, they’re in my top 10 for sure. Well done Czech Republic and welcome back!
Erin: Czechs, Poles, Russians and Balkans Slavics love depressing songs, try to listen their national songs. This is Slavic music, do you remember Mamo by Anastasia (Russia 2009)? They love it
Such a bad bad song! Wtf is going on this year, with all these horrible and boring songs :S There is only 4 songs currently that are good, the rest is meh :S
I’m kinda disappointed, i mean it’s quite nice but I hoped for something stronger, more rockish
not sure if they’re gonna qualify
“Tell me WHYYYYYY” it is so one-dimensional, depressing and anti-climatic unlike the Romania 2002 effective heartbreak ballad?
Nothing special… I guess they will stay in the semifinal once again
Very nice song, best ballad of this year!
meh….
It sounds very 2005
It could qualify or it could not :p
It depends if the juries like it but I don’t think it will qualify.
The juries are taking all the fun out of Eurovision. I don’t even care who wins i watch Eurovision to be entertained, let’s get rid of the juries please. My head hurts after listening to all these inspid ballads
