As Estonia’s Eesti Laul 2024 semi-final is growing closer, fifteen acts are preparing to perform their bids to earn the five tickets to the final of the show. In that grand final, which will be held in a month, they will join another five automatically-qualified acts.

Back in December, we asked you readers to vote for who you wanted to win. And now, the results are in.

OLLIE is a favourite to win Eesti Laul 2024

Eesti Laul returner OLLIE has proven himself a favourite for the 2024 contest as well. In 2023, he finished as the the runner-up and now he’ll be hoping to go all the way and take the trophy. His first step is to make it past the semi-final in Tartu, where he’ll be singing “My Friend”.

OLLIE just won our poll with 1,243 votes – a 30.54% share of all the votes cast.

Shortly behind OLLIE we find the quite experimental entry “(nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi”, which is performed by hip hop group 5MIINUST in collaboration with the nu-folk duo Puuluup. On YouTube, the official video of the song has already racked up almost half a million views. In the poll, the collaboration received 1,133 votes — or 27.83%.

With a fair distance, former Eesti otsib superstaari contestant Cecilia finished third in our poll with 305 votes (7.49%) for her song “FOMO”.

Meanwhile, automatic qualifier and Eesti Laul veteran Daniel Levi finished fourth with 301 votes (7.39%). His song “Over The Moon” was co-written by Eurovision 2019 star Victor Crone.

So I tried voting in this poll the other day ago and it was closed, when did it close? The results may be outdated; opinions can change over time. Good blog though.

Up to the minute the popular sentiments seem to be in favor of:

1. 5MIINUST x Puuluup
2. OLLIE
3. Cecilia (FOMO)
4. Traffic (Wunderbar)
5. (debate here)

interesting result! from the 30.53% of the ollie-result i think something around 20-35% is finest ESC-bubblegum. i have seen a short sequence from the stage rehearsall – the talharpaboys can dance, too. but send the 2 big favorites into a semi and 5 other mostly weak songs not is very strange – only 5 from 15 in the semi can make the cut. with influence will have the jury in this semi? try they something against the talharpa boys (or ollie?) – both belongs into the final but in my opinium also 5-7 other songs too and are only 3 more places… Read more »

Out of 15 songs, 5 will make it to the final.
Of these 5, OLLIE and 5MIINUST & Puuluup will almost certainly be in the final.
Therefore, only three of the 13 other songs have a chance to reach the final. Lots of disappointment tomorrow night!

I have a strong feeling the odds are right when they say 5MIINUST & Puuluup will win. I believe they will because they are gaining momentum and Ollie will be left out 2nd AGAIN, disapppointing many Eurofans. I say this as a Cecilia fan who would love for FOMO to win but looking at the stagings, I believe 5MIINUST & Puuluup have got this. I have a feeling fans will be left disappointed by the results of both Estonia and Finland.

I can sense that Estonia is going to leave a lot of good songs behind in the semis…..

Ollie was my favourite last year and this year too. He must represent Estonia sometime and hope that if he will be 2nd again like last year he won’t give up.
5miinust have a really fun song and if the jury of Estonia will appreciate then they will clearly win the televote.

Ollie’s voice and the melody give me goosebumps! He must win. If the performance is good enough at Eurovision I can see it reaching the top 10. Goodluck Estonia! 🙂

Ollie is not the only favorite, he is more the favorite of rock fans, but there are not so many alternative rock fans in Estonia who can guarantee Olliele victory. Ollie’s song is just another rock song that any rock singer could sing, there is no excitement in it, just a repeat of last year’s song. Ollie comes second again because he’s not a Maneskin, sorry Ollie…

Most those who stream Spotify won’t be voting at the moment, so I wouldn’t be so sure 5miinust is winning

This will be a duel between 5MIINUST and OLLIE, but it seems to me that Estonians like 5MIINUST’s song more and more.

5miinust win. Televote 100% in final and they’ll romp home as it’s been number one in Estonian downloads for weeks

Their song from last year was waaaay better. I think My Friend is not strong enough to pretend to a top 10 in Eurovision. I’m not even sure it could pretend to a top 15.
Imo there are a few better songs in the selection this year. My favorite (Oblivion) is not a fan favorite so I’m not hoping too much but I think Estonia can still choose better than My Friend
