In our last poll four more countries — Malta, Norway, Ukraine and Spain — joined the Eurovision 2024 mix, bringing songs that span dance, folk-metal and solemn prayer pop. But none of them managed to knock Ireland’s Bambie Thug from the top spot.
Once again “Doomsday Blue” is our readers’ favourite Eurovision 2024 song so far.
Bambie Thug — the enchanting non-binary artist flying the Irish flag — earned 1,413 votes — or more than 21% of all those cast. Their unique form of “ouija pop” has proven polarising. But as we always say, it doesn’t matter who dislikes you at Eurovision — what matters is who loves you and will pick up the phone to vote.

It’s crap. And the vibe they are going for was done 100 times better by Finland last year. In an ordinary year I would doubt it reaching the final but as their are fewer entries this year and the standard has taken a nosedive, it’ll scrape in.
Well this much is clear: Bambie Thug has Europe talking!
The next three places in our poll are occupied by new arrivals: Norway’s Gåte debut at #2, while Ukraine’s power duo Jerry Heil & alyona alyona come in at #3. Spain’s Nebulossa — who reached #2 on the Spotify Global Viral Top 50 this week — placed fourth in our poll.
Malta’s Sarah Bonnici — the other new entrant this week — placed eighth of the ten acts.

Bambie Thug’s performance live on a real stage will mesmerise fans and people will want to vote the entry above other entries. There will be those who don’t like it and that is fine as you can’t downvote and if anything that will just encourage fans of Bambie to vote more. Bambie already has proved somewhat polarising in Ireland but they have managed to win more and more fans with their infectious positivity and charisma.
