We’ll be kicking off the next national final weekend early this time, as on Friday, Germany will decide on its entrant for Eurovision 2024 for Malmö through the show Das Deutsche Finale 2024.
But before the German audience and juries decide who will take the victory, it’s time to see who our readers would prefer to see win.
After opening our poll, 2,374 votes were submitted. We’ve counted and verified the results, and now we’re ready to share them!
Ryk is a favourite to win Das Deutsche Finale 2024
With a significant lead, you have named Ryk as the one act you’d like to see grace the stage of Eurovision this May, with his emotional, cinematic, self-penned song “Oh Boy”.
Ryk finished in third place at the 2018 German national selection. But now many have the star down to go all the way and take first place in 2024.
“Oh Boy” picked up 890 votes in the poll — 37.49% of the total share.
In second place, we have Bodine Monet with her ethereal pop number “Tears like Rain”.
She’s become another favourite to potentially walk away with the ticket to Eurovision. This is very much seen in our poll, where she amassed a quarter of all the votes — 25.65% to be exact, which counts for an impressive 609 votes.
The bronze medal goes to Marie Reim, who will sing a classic piece of glittery German schlager. “Naiv” earned 351 votes, 14.79% of the total.
Marie is the daughter of Germany’s representative from Eurovision 2001, Michelle. Perhaps the Eurovision torch will be being passed down to a new generation.

Even though it’s a blatant copy of “Wo sind die Katzen” (Kaia Tamm @ Eesti Laul 2019), Galant’s “Katze” will win hands down in the televoting. It might even be enough to win. Trust me.
Ryk will probably represent Germany. Yet another boring song – that will not do well- because Germany takes itself too seriously in ESC. Too much like Arcade and now outdated. What does Germany do better than anyone in the world – and when it’s done really well….. it’s very good? Schlager!!!!! Ever since Michael Schulte they have wanted to go ‘radio friendly’ and it’s never worked. Stick with what you do best….. camp it up, glam it up, diva it up and go with Marie Reim!!!!
Knowing Germany and how they love to take a piss out of Eurovision, Max Mutzke is the winner tonight. No way they will go for the favourite. Unfortunately.
Ryk has the best song: It’s deep, emotional and speheric. Something I would listen to in long night car drive or with my headphones on sitting in a big chair and dreaming – and that’s why the best song in the competition is the worst song for the eurovision competition. Streets are saying the German broadcaster rigged the jury to ensure a Max Mutzke win. It would make sense since they also put him at the end of the running order. Ugh please let it not be true.
I also think it’s gonna be between Max and Marie. Max is the one being more promoted, but honestly Germans and schlager have a very weird relationship.
It’s not rigged, he simply is the act the most people will tune in for, so it makes sense to have him finish the show.
Still Ryk’s fans really need to show up and do as best as they can. Basically all of Max’ celebrity friends, including a lot of A-listers, are campaigning for him on social media right now.
Marie would not be the worst result. But Katze would even be better than Max’s song!

I just listened to Ryk’s song for the first time, and I really don’t like it, sorry. It makes me wonder if the people voting in the poll voted for the song or something else. Or if all the other songs are much worse.

Marie could be a favourite if you ask me, her live performing skills are quite powerful honestly, i saw her last year in Die Giovanni Zarrella Show (she’s been a regular on that last few years now, very popular well watched music show on ZDF, Marco Mengoni performed Due Vite on that same night as well btw, Giovanni attracts very big name guest acts, even acts like Michael Bolton, Simply Red enjoy performing there)
I kinda feel that Marie is gaining some momentum but who knows?

dutch people are quite liked in germany: Harry Wijnvoord, Ilse DeLange, Sylvie Meis, Loiza Lamers
But none of them competed in a show where the German representative for an international event was chosen.
Elaiza’s lead singer is Polish-Ukrainian and still won the NF in 2014… by a landslide actually.
Oh boy is much easier to get into then You and I was and Ryk is super talented. Unfortunately for me his stage presence is just not there. Not even for a second he was able to catch my attention. That was my big problem in 2018 and it seems for the German public as well since he got last place in the public voting. I am very interested to see if he gets his emotions across this time. The German audience doesn’t ‘learn’. They will just vote for the biggest names tonight. I don’t really think that Ryk will win.

“Oh boy” is such a depressing and boring song, who voted for it in this Poll? Makes me wonder… But the real question is, who’s gonna vote for it during Eurovision if this will be sent? Exactly, no one… Think carefully, Germany. You’ve got one shot wit the 80’s themed “Naiv”…
Eurofans just love these overdramatic male ballads where there’s nothing concrete going on. Naiv is the best choice, very flavorful!

The audience doesn’t exist of only ‘clap your hands and stamp your feet’ people. The european audience is not only German schlager lovers. The latter live in Germany and at best in Austria. There are a lot of people who love beautiful and serene music. Live with that!

I don’t think he will tonight. I can see him finishing around 4th with televoting – Max, Marie and even Galant will probably do better with the German public.
There will be powervoting for Ryk tonight. Galant will barely receive televotes. I expect them to finish second-to-last, on par with Floryan.
I’ve read comments and posts about that but I’m wondering if it’s gonna be enough. Sure the fact that the show is on quite late might allow the fans to have some more effect on the result. And you’re probably right about Galant – my perspective is a bit more Berlin influenced.
We’ll have to wait and see. I was pretty confident about Ryk this morning. But with people like Joko, Pufpaff, Kebekus and Mälzer telling their fans to vote for Max now, even powervoting might not be enough for Ryk to secure the 12 points from the televote.

Why is there an actual child on the artwork for this song? That’s what confused me as to what it is about.

Just to be clear, I never for a moment was trying to suggest he was singing to a literal child, except maybe his younger self. The artwork does in no way seem relevant to a song about unrequited love.

Then there’s Marie and to give her some credit, she has a pretty solid Schlager voice. The lyrics are so bad for me. But are they for the product she is selling? The song is titled Naiv and the lyrics deliver what the song title promises, they are so very naive. So is it actually a job well done? I dunno, it feels like it’s not quite a bottom finisher for Eurovision but rather around 18th place. Like, some respect points but that’s about it. Unless the final quality in Malmö is bad.
If “Oh Boy” doesn’t work for me live, I’m voting for “Naiv” – which is exactly what it says, although I can’t stand the lyrics either.The fact that it’s in German will help in ESC, since most of Europe will have no idea how bad those lyrics are.
I will never vote for “Naiv”. I just don’t like Schlager, and this is a very basic song. I want an Act I can stand behind, an act that I can be proud of, no matter of the outcome at the ESC-final.
Ryk’s song is very artisic, it catches me from the start and has my full attention till the last note. A yourney!

I don’t connect with the melody of oh boy. You and I should have gone to Lissabon though, although the performance with the female dancers feels disingenuous now.

I actually agree Ari. I have great difficulty connecting with “Oh Boy”, although after a few listens it has started sounding fine. Maybe it will come to life performed live, let’s see.
