The land of fire are hoping to heat things up in Malmö, and now we know who has been given this task. Azerbaijan’s broadcaster İTV has selected Fahree to represent the nation at Eurovision 2024.

Fahree’s songs will be released at a later unspecified date.

Fahree for Eurovision 2024

Following several rounds of auditions, Fahree emerged as İTV’s number one pick.

After submitting his entry to Azerbaijan’s internal selection, Fahree noted that it was a “long-standing dream” to make it to the song contest. Now, that dream is set to become a reality.

Although we will have to wait a little longer to hear his entry, the Azeri star has said “The song I wrote is very important to me and I sincerely believe it!”

Fahree initially studied to become a lawyer. During his six years at university, he received both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in law.

However, then the Covid-19 pandemic hit. At this time, the Baku-born star found himself returning to music after growing up in an artistic family — his father was a jazz drummer and his grandfather was an actor.

Eventually, Fahree decided to dedicate his time fully towards music and set his sights on achieving his dream of participating at the Eurovision Song Contest.

What do you think of Azerbaijan’s selection? Are you excited to hear Fahree’s song? Let us know in the comments below.

Why do the three Caucasian States always leave it so late for their reveals and never hold national finals?

I guess that’s because they want to have a “panorama” of almost all entries so far and then produce (at the very last minute) a strategic entry that (according to them, not us) could impress or make a difference. That’s does not necessarily always work, though.

It doesn’t impress us much. They should reveal their songs earlier as it used to be in the past. I especially hate on Armenia for this.

The EBU doesn’t need nations like Azerbaijan and Israel ruining the image of Eurovision anymore.

I hope they both get banned and the EBU focuses on bringing the Balkans, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and microstates back into the contest. Time to strengthen the core, don’t let the outliers ruin this competition for us all.

I agree. Kick Israel and Azerbaijan out and welcome Lebanon, Morocco, Algerie, Tunisia, Libya and Egypt in – as well as work harder to get Andorra, Bosnia, Hungary, Turkey, Monaco, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Romania back.

Ban Azerbaijan. Doesn’t deserve the attention it’s given. This guy obviously disguises his connection to Russia. In one of his songs his Russian sounds native. Why does he sweep this fact under the carpet?

I don’t know anything about his connection to Russia, which even if true I don’t have problem with, unless he supports ongoing war in Ukraine. But how speaking Russian like native, this narrative that someone from Azerbaijan can’t speak this way, actually falls into nationalistic agenda, is wrong? I’m wholeheartedly for Ukraine, myself from Kyrgyzstan, for whom Russian is a native tongue the same way Kyrgyz is.

No one says being bilingual is a problem. Listen to his songs nd you may understand what I mean. Don’t jump to conclusions.

Most of the Ukrainians are native Russian speakers. Speaking Russian fluently doesn’t make you “connected to Russia” or supporting Russia.

Of course, it doesn’t. But noting the context how dirty azerbaijan plays, you can understand what I mean.

You know, Azerbaijan used to be part of the Soviet union, when every country under it had to speak Russian? Yes, he was born after it broke up, but Russian is probably still a second language for some people due to its proximity to Russia.

Right, colonialism. Same way you speaking English over on America doesn’t mean you are devout to King Charles.

So – does this guy have any actual experience? None was mentioned in the article. Sounds like he’s a newcomer.

All these news of artists in the running to end up announcing someone completely unrelated. I was kinda hoping for Aisel or the band to represent Azerbaijan this year, but Azerbaijan will Azerbaijan I guess

What a random choice, I hoped for a trio. If they come with a song in English and by Swedish composers they’re immediately going to my last place no matter how the song sounds like.

Guess people only hate Israel then, if others in wars can compete, huh?
Just shows how most of the hatred is antisemitic (before you rage, read again – MOST, not all)

And the EBU actually had plenty of just cause to exclude them. Azerbaijan broke EBU rules and all they ever got was a tiny little fine once.

This comment is so ironic. Majority of the weapons supplied to Azerbaijan during their ethnic cleansing came from Israel.

You probably know then how many weapons in Israel come from European countries as well 🙂

Simple, they saw that there were many women and very few ballads, so they decided last minute to go with a male ballad. It’s a competition after all, this is a strategy.

Judging by the artist alone I can sense a propaganda ballad incoming. About peace I presume.

If Israel cant sing the song they want, they have made sure Azerbaijan is doing it for them instead… LOL! It should have been Aisel or this other group…but nope, corruption happened and why so?

Firstly: what are Azerbaijan and Aliyev tv doing in Eurovision? Secondly, the contestant writing their own song was a nice change last year, I’m glad they seem to continue that instead of shopping for Melfest rejects. I hope it’ll be good.

It’s tremendously ironic how EBU chose to make the announcements about Israel and Azerbaijan on the same day.
Honestly I don’t care. We shouldn’t tolerate the crimes these countries committed in the past year to be whitewashed.

If we look at it like that, then the UK & France should’ve been disqualified a long time ago, but I hear no one talking about that (ironically).
