National final season has come to an end and we now have 22 winners who will move on to compete at Eurovision 2024. However, many of the other entries that didn’t make it will remain on our playlists for some time. To celebrate these acts, it’s time for our countdown of Team Wiwi’s Top 50 national final songs of Eurovision 2024.
The team here at wiwibloggs have voted for their favourite songs that competed in the national finals for Eurovision 2024 but were not selected. Over 130 of this year’s songs received points from at least one of our jurors. Now we’re ready to share which of them made it into our Top 50. We’ll reveal ten tracks each day until we reach the winner.
Note this is not an objective list, but is determined by the personal votes of a panel of wiwibloggers. We encourage you to share your own personal favourites in the comments below.

I have to be honest and say that realistically none of them were close to getting on the list. Ailsha’s is in a genre that I should find appealing but there was something about it that never felt right to me. Ghali was the other one which I do remember having a fleeting interest in, but it was not sufficiently deep for me to want to explore it. I feel my personal tastes are not as “out there” as they used to be when I first started properly following national finals, such as the 2015 and 2016 years. Still don’t know whether I changed or the fandom did!

This is the most interesting top ten so far, as there are a few songs from my top ten in here, but also, some songs that weren’t getting close to my list either. I really feel Germany have made a massive mistake not selecting RYK and Oh Boy. The impact he would have made in a year of uptempo bops is such a waste of his talent and the strength of this song.

Great synopsis Zanoni, I’m glad some of my choices were appealing to you. I recognise everything you are saying. Serenade is certainly by-the-book but it does makes me feel emotional every time I hear it, so I had to reward it appropriately. You’re right that I’m ranking a lot of these based on the studio cut – having seen the lives, I am comfortable in all cases that it was the right decision for the songs not to progress, but nevertheless they have all stirred something in me which warranted a place in the Top 50. This is an interesting discussion in several different directions! I’ve felt this year that I should probably develop some kind of philosophy in regards to evaluating songs based on the studio cut vs the live version. My favorite viewpoint that I’ve seen expressed is something that StianF said last year: “a bad performance doesn’t make a song bad, but a great performance can indeed make a not great song feel way better.” When it comes to a top 50 list, though, I don’t feel like I’m including any songs I think are not great, so it’s more like “a live… Read more »
Fascinating stuff Zanoni. I am beginning to wonder if I have missed the boat on Ailsha’s effort with both yourself and Briekimchi enjoying it. On the face of it, it should be a song that resonates with me. It pulsates and has a point of view which I am normally suckered by, but for some strange reason I wasn’t dragged in by it, neither audibly nor visually. @Zanoni, can’t believe I am being quoted from an opinion i shared last year (or whenever it was). LoL. Still have this opinion, i listen to songs on Spotify so a good song never goes bad just because of a bad performance, but a mediocre song definitely is helped by amazing performance. There are only win wins this way.
Really interesting selection of ten here. Usual equal divide of stuff that I like, stuff I don’t care for and stuff I don’t like whatsoever. So, basically…a Kosey selection! “Amor De Verano” is a song that I’m weirdly enjoying so much more now away from the Spanish selection than I did during the contest. It probably wasn’t competitive in that strong field, but it’s such a nice, catchy summer song. “Rika” is one that I’ve liked all the way through and is one of the wild cards in Ukraine that is so much better than half the stuff they pre-qualified… Read more »
Amor de Verano has always been a song about Spanish summer holidays for me – in that context, I think it is excellent, it strongly captures a mood and lived experience for me. It’s an intimate feeling so I always suspected that a performance in a large arena on a cold January day was never going to capture the essence of the song so my expectations of the song’s performance in Benidorm Fest were always low – it comes back to what I was saying to Zanoni – the emotion of sweet melancholy about a memory of a time and… Read more »
