Eurovision’s Next Top Male Model 2013 and Eurovision 2013 runner-up Farid Mammadov is keeping his hand in the world of Eurovision. More specifically, he’s holding an iPhone, reading the lyrics to “Rise Like a Phoenix” and channeling Conchita Wurst. We appreciate the effort—and Farid’s committment to ESC! What do you think of his cover? Does “Rise Like a Phoenix” sounds better with a male vocalist?
Here’s Farid’s cover:
And here’s Conchita’s first rehearsal:
Ok, I have to say that I love Conchita’s version and will always love it, but this doesn’t sound bad. Farid’s English isn’t the top, but his voice fits the song pretty good.
Only because farid covered conchita’s song, doesn’t mean he’ s for the gays or gay by himself. Maybe he likes only the song

Yesterday it was revealed that he is kind of sad about that “rise like a phoenix” was sung by someone like conchita. The article is written in russian. I’m not sure if the article is really true, but if it is, i’m actually very sad about it…
@Wergie,you really love Azeris because you know everything about them…tha’s why don’t bark here…..Azerbaijan is the best and tha’s why you know everything about Azerbaijan…Azerbaijan is your Ideal…
carl of MASHTAGI …
Well, nothing more to add 😉
@Wergie,you still here?if you don’t like Azerbaijan and its entries,Fuc* Out Here. And Nobody listen to your lies About Mashtagi,Baku.Go and Learn about ancient Azeri Land Irevan(yerevan). You ate Dilara’s ass in another article now you eat Farid’s dick
High voice! Outstanding.
@Melissa Kutcher ‘Farid did a great job with it! He did NOT sound like an attention whore!’ Don’t be naive darling. The fact that he chose song of most scandalous and controversial person says it all. And, pleaseee, i know what i’m talking about.. Their mentality like an open book for me. @Darren ‘…in fairness, he is cute, I think he’s got the gay gene as well’ Yes, he probably has it, i even think he comes from a place near to Baku called Mashtagi, inhabitants of which (more than of other places 😉 are widely known as anal se*… Read more »
whoops, i mean… azerbaijan>armenia when it comes to LGBT acceptance. 😛
Farid did a great job with it! He did NOT sound like an attention whore!
This is just publicity for this years Azeri entry, because of all the trouble Azerbaijan have been accused of, regarding voting and human rights…Farid is basically just saying “Yeah, human rights are abused here, but we support gays” …in fairness, he is cute, I think he’s got the gay gene as well
There’s one whore in the world and it’s Kim Kardaschian 🙂
i like farid, but conchita’s version is way better
Another attention whore))
Well done! Music always comes first!!
“Does “Rise Like a Phoenix” sounds better with a male vocalist?”
Erm…”Conchita” is a man…
The way he says “wengeance” is so cute 😛
I’ve seen it on his Instagram. His English is a little poor, but his voice sounds amazing. I don’t want to compare it to Conchita’s version, but he’s pretty good.
Thanks to Farid for such a friendly cover, and proving that he holds a real Eurovision spirit.
Chapeau !
Well done FARID !
You show us all your class and courage. Exactly, that is the way to send positve signs and signals for us in Europe.
Man, that guy is beautiful. Azerbaijan should def send him again.
Wow! He’s really brave to do that because of the criticism which that song has received. Kudos to Farid!
Farid has a beautiful voice, I like it!!! His english is nog so good, but his voice makes everything okay.
