We may have missed Ukraine at Eurovision this year, but they won’t leave us heavy-hearted at Junior Eurovision 2015 in Bulgaria!Â
Earlier in the summer Ukraine confirmed that it would participate in JESC this year, and soon after that the Ukrainian broadcaster NTU announced that they would hold a semi-final to select its fifteen hopefuls. That took place on Saturday, and we now have the names for you to Google and YouTube and dissect en route to the national final, which takes place on Saturday 22 August. The winner will, of course, sing for glory this year in Sofia.
The fifteen finalists and their songs are:
- Hanna Katrina with “Fly”
- Sofia Yaremova with “Salsa”
- Fresh with “Zhyvy Na Povnu”
- Nazar Stinyanskyy with “Come-on”
- Alisa Panchuk with “Spivay”
- Voice Land with “Childhood”
- Victoriya Svyatogor with “Sylna. Vilna”
- Mariya Karohodska with “V Sertsi Muzyka Ye”
- Nina Boykova with “Rozmalyuy Moyi Sny”
- Zabava with “Fly”
- Yarina Taras with “Povir U Chedusa”
- Nastya Tkachuk with “Moya Zemlya”
- Anna Trincher with “Pochny Z Sebe”
- Sofiya Dobryvecher with “My Khochemo Myru”
Last year Ukraine finished in sixth position with the threesome Sympho-Nick and their folky song “Spring Will Come”.
What do you think of the list of names and who’s your favourite?
@ Mario, what do you think of me! 🙂 I have been following this for 3 years and iv’e never been so exited!
Greets from The Netherlands!
I hope, hope, hope Sofia Yaremova wins. BY FAR the best and most fun song and great vocals!
@ Yeah…That must happened indeed Robyn..
Of course this has its own advantage as well..
@ Yeah indeed..
I agree, hard rock/metal would be a no-no, especially in Junior Eurovision.
You’re right that what works one year doesn’t work in subsequent years. in 2012, Sweden won with a dance-beat ballad. In 2013, this style didn’t do well (San Marino, Romania).
In 2014, Austria won with an orchestral power ballad. In 2015, this genre dissapointed (Greece, Czech Republic, Malta), and the jury thwarted Italy.
We see every now & then different kind of genres in our Vision more or less but the genre that has no date of expiration & RULES always is the pop music..<3 On whatever form it might is..
@ Well yeah i can understand enough why this phenomenon occurs.. Well if they would win it would not be because their genre/sound would be really appealing to the audience/viewers but only because they would be something new & original in the Vision.. This doesn’t mean that if you start sending all the time or too many times rock songs like that that they will gain popularity..Because they will NOT.. Its another thing to do something once or rarely just to attract attention & another thing to do it frequently.. Mainly only pop songs either uptembo or ballads are liked… Read more »
@Mario,
Yeah it’s a curiosity that JESC has so many girls. I think it’s because the kind of music featured at JESC (teen pop and Disney-esq ballads) does not appeal to boys that age.
If you want to win JESC, send a band of 15 year old boys with a symphonic rock song. I’m almost certain that would win.
Oh its full of girls.. Makes you wonder where are the boys.. 😛
Well as we have witnessed mostly girls female singers are singing in Junior EuroVision 4 some reason…This makes sense & i can see why this happens..
Boys at young age do not have the same high interest to participate in contests as the girls do 🙂
Its like beauty pageants.. hehe 🙂
In 25 days Ukraine will select the ukranian entry song 4 Bulgaria’s Junior EuroVision! <3 🙂
It is the only country so far that plans to reveal its entry during the summer.. 🙂
We will see if Ukraine can win the Junior Vision for a second time after 2012 🙂
Its the first time that i’m so excited like that about an upcoming Junior Vision! <3
Never before i was that excited about a previous past edition!
And especially with the fact that my interest is high & we still have several months & much time to go before Bulgaria's Junior Vision.. 🙂
This Junior EuroVision Contest is going to rock! <3
