Anggun Cipta is a superstar. We’ve known it ever since she was revealed as France’s Eurovision act back in 2012. And in case there were ever any doubters, she just cemented said status at this week’s Asian Television Awards.
Now in their 20th year, the Singapore based awards show honours the best in Asian television. The “Echo (You And I)” singer was there to both work and play. She presented the Best Actor and Best Actress awards, while she and her colleagues at Asia’s Got Talent received the gong for Best Adaptation of an Existing Format.
However, the highlight of the night was undoubtedly when the Indonesian diva took to the stage to sing her 2005 single “Saviour”. Beforehand, the hosts excitedly list off just some of her many achievements — she’s the world’s best selling Asian artist outside Asia, she won a World Music Award, she’s a UN Goodwill Ambassador, and she’s the first ever Asian to record the theme-tune for a US number one blockbuster.
Unfazed by the heady billing, Anggun treated the audience to a pitch-perfect performance. And of course a superstar must also dress like one. Ms Cipta wore Jean Paul Gautier for the occasion. The pair have collaborated many times, and he even appeared in her official Eurovision music video.

Anggun wasn’t the only point of interest for Eurovision fans. Sweden’s Melodifestivalen 2015 finalists JTR also made an appearance, singing their newest track “Centre Of Everywhere”.
