Bulgaria has been teasing us about its Eurovision 2016 artist for months. Thankfully, it seems like the wait is almost at an end. In a tweet from the Eurovision Bulgaria account, it was confirmed that the artist will be revealed tomorrow, February 17th. In the past few weeks, we’ve suggested that the Bulgarian representative will be one of three acts: Poli Genova, Preslava or the X Factor Bulgaria winner, Christiana Loizou. From what we understand, the winds in the broadcaster BNT seem to have shifted and we’re putting our money on Poli Genova returning to Eurovision in 2016.
WATCH: Poli Genova hints at Eurovision return at JESC 2015
Poli repeatedly dropped hints about a return throughout Junior Eurovision 2015, whether it was in our interview or in one of the press conferences. The Eurovision Bulgaria Twitter has also regularly featured updates about Poli in the past weeks, whilst making little to no mention of any of her other Eurovision rivals.
This would mean that BNT have decided not to go with one of their other options. For some time it seemed that Preslava was in line for the ticket to Stockholm. Back in January, a TV station in Bulgaria called Preslava the top choice for Eurovision. Not only that, but Preslava’s new song “In Control” is a rare step into English for her, much more suited to the Eurovision stage.
Preslava for Eurovision? Our thoughts
Reports initially stated that X Factor winner Christiana would be a choice for Bulgaria too. She has been a popular choice in polls and it would certainly be a way for her to keep momentum, following her victory three weeks ago. Of course, there still could be hope for both Preslava and Christiana. BNT have been known to flip back and forth with their Eurovision intentions for some time, so will there be another last minute change of heart?
Let us know in the comments section who you think will represent Bulgaria, and be sure to check back tomorrow for the official announcement.
well the tweet has been deleted, the BG twitter account is always to hectic
Preslava would do it better. Bulgaria needs fresh air.
Eurovision Bulgaria has dropped some hints in their twitter account. It said that it is a female singer, she has released a new single in the recent past and that in this song there was a male singer featuring but it’s not the eurovision song and the female singer will be solo in eurovision.
Oooh! Mihaela Marinova!!
I can’t read the minds of the Bulgarian’s, but I want them to send Poli Genova again. She was robbed in 2011.
Poli is lovely, but I hope it’s not her! She already had her chance. I’m not really a fan of returning acts. I wish the Bulgarian broadcaster considered KRISKO BEATS to produce their entry. I love GERY NIKOL, SANTRA, and LORA KARADJOVA, and I wish it was one of them, but it’s so not happening, sadly.
Poli Genova would have been a strategical selection – as probably more people know her than the other two, as she hosted JESC. But perhaps not a lot. That’s JESC. Nobody watches it.
Christiana is much better although she doesn’t have a debut song.
Poli or Preslava, or both 🙂
The contest should be renamed this year “Eurovision returning artists”
Please Poli!!
Poli Genova looks like joke beside this second woman.
It’s a song contest or singer contest here?
I need to listening to the song of the three ladies first.
The year of comebacks.
Poli!!!!!
Preslava’s new song is BAD!
Poli ! 🙂 for sure !
Poli or Preslava please!!!
Please be Poli!!!!! She deserves a big comeback after she was robbed in 2011!!!
