Back in October, Montenegrin broadcaster RTCG announced that boyband Highway would represent the Balkan nation in Stockholm this year. We’ve had hints as to what we can expect from these boys as they take on the first semi-final in 2016, but finally RTCG has given an official date for the song reveal: March 4th.
The band will break the stereotype of previous Montenegrin entries that have made it to the grand final by avoiding a Balkan ballad and bring a “modern rock” song sung entirely in English.
The band recently shot a music video for their song. Speaking to Eurovision.TV, director Julian Wood revealed that the concept of the video would be similar to the staging concept the band will use in Stockholm.
Highway member Marko Pesic said, “We want to show all the energy we have as a band. That’s what this video is supposed to show, including some effects, which fit well with the format of our song.”
As a trio, the group got their big break on X-Factor Adria in 2015. They were known for their pop-rock styles, which continued with the trio’s debut single, “Sam”.
Highway are now a foursome, joined by Bojan Jovovic, who represented Serbia and Montenegro in 2005 as part of the Balkan boyband No Name.
With Highway bringing a rock sound to Stockholm, will they be joining the likes of Nika Kocharov and Young Georgian Lolitaz from Georgia and Minus One from Cyprus in making 2016 the year of the Eurovision Rock Contest? We’ll find out what they have to offer on March 4!
I am from Montenegro and not excited. AT ALL.
WE had better candidates this year, you know who I think about now:))
Go Montenegro, Serbia is with you!
These guys are so underrated even before song presentation. Same was with Minus one, but they shut your mouth with KILLER SONG. Now it’s time for Highway to do the same. GO MONTENEGRO!
Now that’s three boy bands with rock songs! Given how good Minus One’s song is and that they’re both in the first semi final, I worry (not really) that this is gonna get left behind. Unless of course, their song manages to be amazing. But if not, then Montenegro may end up being “minus one” from the final.
Balkan ballad comes only from Bosnia…
Sad adio…
i guess we will have to rely only on bosnia only for our annual compulsory balkan ballad.:(
