Malta is taking Eurovision totes seriously this year. In addition to internally selecting Ira Losco’s song, “Walk On Water”, Team Malta have been putting in major miles en route to Stockholm.
So much so that we never shared our interview from their first stop in Latvia. wiwiblogger Denise managed to catch Ira for a brief chat and we fell in love all over again.
Sporting a chic biker jacket, and a lovely mane of dark wavy hair, Ira looked relaxed, yet confident as she told us how her busy schedule has kept her away from returning to Eurovision since her 2002 debut.
“It takes time to take a leap and it takes time to muster the courage to do something. But I think that this was the right time. You know sometimes when you feel in your gut that this is the right year to do it.”
And what about switching songs at the last minute?
“For the past three years, Malta has had a rule that when an artist is selected, the song that they participated with can be challenged or tested. I was asked if I would like to challenge ‘Chameleon’ and I said that yes, why not….If I am given another song which maybe could fare better for my country, I would like to take that option.”
Do you feel the same? You can vote in our poll and let us know.
Good luck iraloscol malta all behind you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and good luck malta and a big thank you to the team
Good luck to you ira malta are all behind and God bless you always xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx lovely song walk on water
@Nicky91
You’re welcome!
@georgekirkas
thank you for the advice 🙂
@Nicky91
I don’t understand why, but Pollaski criticizes everyone and everything! They seem to like fighting, but of course I’m not going to sink to their level! I’m going to ignore them and I advise you to do the same!
@Georgekirkas
i already thought the same as you, very pathetic that some people have to seek something to criticize this song lol
@Nicky91
There’s not such a singer! Don’t beileve Pollaski, they are lying! I searched it, too and I didn’t find anything!
@Elyk
a vocal coach much younger than Ira, doesn’t seem likely i guess
i think she’ll be a backing singer, if someone with his/her connections has revealed that today 🙂
@Pollaski
well i searched on YouTube for that song, please believe me 🙂
@mad_hat
yeah really cool 🙂
@mad_hat
You are right! The location is Bugibba in Malta. Question is whether she’ll be Ira’s backing singer or her vocal coach
@Nicky91 Yes it’s great. Incidentally I just checked Molly’s Instagram page and she’s actually in Malta right now, staying in the hotel where Ira is rehearsing 🙂
@Nicky
Its all over YouTube. I dont think you’re searching because you don’t want to know.
@mad_hat
well this is amazing news, and we also now have an answer to the high note at the end, i think Molly will be singing that, and 2 of the best gospel singers of Malta, also good news, i love gospel 🙂
I was watching a local Maltese television programme that is previewing Eurovision entries and discussing them, the presenter, who’s a huge Eurovision fan with some connections to the delegation said affirmatively that Molly Petterson Hammar will be one of the backing vocalists. But the official delegation has till now only confirmed the two Maltese backing vocalists Pamela and Anna Azzopardi, the two best gospel singers in Malta.
@Pollaski
who is that? i tried to search the song on YouTube, but couldn’t find it
but i’ve never heard of that singer 🙂
where have you heard this comparison, and i don’t care about any comparison, I like Ira and nothing will change that 🙂
@Nicky91 So what’s your take on the new allegations that “Walk on Water” is almost identical to “Gullible” by the American artist Bechu Falfurdis?
@georgekirkas
thank you for understanding me, and i’m glad i’ve got you as my friend on this blog 🙂
@Nicky91
I agree with you, we shouldn’t care about the the country of origin of the backing vocalists! I am happy she will bring the dancer in Stockholm and I hope her show will be great!
@Elyk
that would be cool, if Ira convinced Molly to be her backing singer 🙂
and yeah he’s a good dancer, but then again lots of dancing experience with performing at concerts of other famous singers 🙂
@Nicky91
Could MPH possibly be one of the swedish backing singers?
Glad we’ll get to see more of skorpion dancer !
@georgekirkas
i prefer Walk On Water, Chameleon would’ve been another song similar to Warrior
and i’m happy that she got 4 live backing singers, and i don’t care about 2 swedish backing singers and 2 maltese backing singers, just happy that they are with her on the stage, and now let’s hope for some great staging as well
also the dancer from the music video will be with her 🙂 🙂
@Nicky91
Do you prefer ”Walk On Water” or ”Chameleon”? I prefer ”Walk On Water”, but I also like ”Chameleon”.
@MarioMario
thank you 🙂 🙂
@Previ
well i agree with you as well 🙂
@Tom
never say never, she really sings this very good live, with confidence ( which is how you must sing this song) 🙂
@Article 10 Liberty
Everyone seems to say otherwise. Guess who has a bad taste in music…
Good Lord, what’s that unholy racked. A poor quality song / unremarkable singer. Why is this mess promoted here almost every day? Swedish song writer….Oh, and Samra, of course…miaow…miaow…miaow…but Swedish songwriter….
How much money do you get for advertising your ‘favourites’, Wiwibloggs? I don’t believe you are spending your own money on plane tickets and hotel bills. Obviously you have sponsors who expect you to ‘sell’ their products and to manipulate us. Or you have very bad taste in music.
I feel Malta will be the one to watch this year
I liked Chameleon but I love Walk on Water haha. Yes the level of competition this year is so good, but this is still one of the best ones.
Walk on Water may get her to top 10 again (which I doubt) Chameleon wouldn’t have gone unnoticed, maybe not evening clinching a final spot.
Don’t think she will be able to repeat that 2nd position considering the overall level of this year.
I approve it too. Chameleon would have received a low score from me. Very annoying.
