We like selfies, but we love groupies. And Eurovision 2016 gave us seven groups — that’s bands and duos, y’all — for us to saddle up to with our cameras.
Unfortunately they didn’t have much luck at Eurovision this year. Georgia’s Nika Kocharov and the Young Georgian Lolitaz finished highest among the groups — 20th in the grand final — followed by Cyprus’ Minus One (21st) and the U.K.’s Joe & Jake (24th).
But at least they were in the finals. All the other groups — from Bosnia & Herzegovina, Denmark, Greece and Montenegro — crashed out in the semis.
Ahead of the semis we asked you guys to vote for your favourite duo/or group. After counting a total of 2,786 votes, we can now reveal that Cyprus has won the day with their song “Alter Ego”. Their pop/rock fusion — combined with their fierce looks — catapulted them to victory with 888 votes.
Always charming and never lacking in fun, they charmed us at every turn — on the red carpet, in the press centre and backstage. This is a group that loves what they do — and we love them for it!
Second place in the best duo/group poll went to the handsome lads from the United Kingdom.
Joe and Jake had us creaming our pants with their natural chemistry and down-to-earth realness.
“You’re Not Alone” proved to be powerful and uplifting on the stage. No matter that they finished in the bottom five — we still love them!
The bronze medal for the best duo/group poll goes to the exuberant and fun Deen & Dalal ft. Ana Rucner & Jala from Bosnia & Herzegovina.
The group slayed their performances of their song “Ljubav Je” and the song really resonated with our readers.
Although their message on migration and their visuals about refugees didn’t always translate, it’s still a powerful performance we’re enjoying on repeat watch.

I really like Georgia`s song because psychodelic rock is my favourite genre. In my opinion Georgia deserved to grand final:) I voted for Georgia in semi-final and I voted for Russia in grand final.
Congratulations Minus One! But i’ll be always on #TeamJoeAndJake
still feel terrible for joe and jake. I wish they did better.
But it took a long time to understand “Midnight gold” and it was in last place of semi final 2 songs when all songs in that semi final were decided, but then I understood. They are psychadelic Beatles. And after the show, it is my favourite, together with “Slow down”
other than rock*
@Mr .D
And saying that rock is real music is completely subjective. Take a look at the meaningful lyrics of “Icebreaker” and “The Last Of Our Kind” and you will understand (maybe you are not that stupid) that you live in a bubble where music genres other than pop are not acceptable. Wake up and start living in the real world, miserable pathetic person! And please, go start some English lessons before posting a comment on the internet 😉
@Mr. D
Someone likes songs I don’t! *homophobic rant*
LMAO. Never go full Miami, dude.

The only one who is sick here is you. Everyone has a different opinion and you should respect it. You may love Georgia’s song but I don’t. That’s all. Is it so hard to understand it and go on?
Norway or Switzerland deserved qualification more than best song from Georgia? Keep it calm, gays, you dont understand what about is music. Final was so boring with the same soloist songs and you want Norway instead Georgia. This opinions are really sick.
It’s very simple: Georgia qualified because they had a different song and a good draw, so they stood out. All the rock fans voted for them since it was the only pure rock song of the Semi-Final. I’m not surprised the juries liked it and I’m happy they made it, but in my opinion other countries (Norway, Switzerland, Belarus, FYROM, etc.) deserved it more.
Georgia is a perfect example of great staging elevating (and masking) a terrible song. I still think Albania or Norway should have qualified over them.
My favourite back when I voted. But after rehearsals, Georgia did grow very quickly, and when all songs have been performed at the final, the young Georgian lolitaz was my favourite, they have the best song, that was outside the box(But I think every music gengre is welcome) and they caught my attention.
Well deserved!
