Gaia Cauchi did it. Destiny Chukunyere did it too. And now Malta’s Junior Eurovision enthusiasts are hoping that 13-year-old Christina Magrin can secure the Mediterranean nation its third win at JESC, after the pint-sized dynamo won Malta’s national selection on Saturday evening.
Lil’ Christina competed against 19 other finalists in Valletta. All of them performed a cover of an iconic song, with the choices ranging from Sia’s “Titanium” to Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball.”
Christina stole the show with her version of “No More Tears” (Enough is Enough) — the high-octane duet originally performed by Barbara Streisand and Donna Summer in 1979.
The number showcased her impressive range and big set of lungs, but also her ability to strut and pout and put on a show. Watch as she works the purple tutu realness. We’re getting major shades of Armenia’s Betty…
Waaa! ???? I’m over the moon ???? will be representing #Malta in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Valletta ?? I’m… https://t.co/iyRTLCNWfH

The result was determined by a jury, who accounted for 75% of the overall score, and televoters, who made up the remaining 25%.
Christina will now work with composers to create the perfect JESC song. We’d expect her to team up with JESC songwriting sensations Matthew “Muxu” Mercieca and Elton Zarb — the brains behind the winning songs “The Start” and “Not My Soul” — but we have nothing on record about that.
Christina has slayed Eurovision covers previously. Here she is owning Rona Nishliu’s 2012 song “Suus” on the fifth season of the Romanian singing contest “The Next Star”.

She screams like a hawk!
@Niceee
What’s your problem? Stop being a sexist, the freaking gender doesn’t matter!!!
And what does the EBU have to do with that? Every country chooses the best singer and then they try to find the perfect song. Nobody cares about the gender, only misogynists like you.
Well if it’s not a song like No More Tears, then i have high hopes for Malta (again).
Next girl? Last reason to ignore this competition. Who wants to watch competition with 14 teen girls? Nobody. VARIABILITY PLS, DEAR EBU.
My favourite was Lisa not veronica!
What I’m more excited about is the adult version of ESC in the next 10-15 years. I expect Malta will become the Sweden of the 20’s and 30’s!!
Malta’s 4th star in a row.
Christina Magrin is amazing <3.
@Jeac Seriously, it’s NOT that disappointing. Christina was chosen because many people voted for her. There should be no need to get all angry because your favorite wasn’t chosen to represent Malta. In other words, you’ll have to wait until next year for Veronica Rotin to represent Malta. 😉
Very disappointing. She looked awful and all the shouting hurt my ears. Sorry malta
Gahhhh one of my favorite songs ever!!!!! This and “Suus” – I like this girl’s taste in music.
If Malta wins this year, then which country will host next year? 😮
Either way, great job Christina! 🙂
Malta is bidding for the win once again… for the fourth time in a row. Impressive!
2/3 singer for the JESC has a TV Program of talents singin ‘Suus’….
emmm,…..
next please?
How come that such small island Malta, has so many great vocalists?
