From Lordi to Sunstroke Project, groups have the power to become firm fan favourites — and to climb that Eurovision scoreboard. Next month, six of them will take to the Lisbon stage.
Earlier this week, we asked you to vote for your favourite group. And y’all certainly wanted your opinion to be heard, casting a total of 3,447 votes.
The results are in and Bulgaria’s Equinox takes gold. The five-piece managed to grab 1,488 votes or 43,17% of all votes cast. Almost half the votes. Yay!
Made up of Zhana Bergendorff, Georgi Simeonov, Johnny Manuel, Trey Campbell, and Vlado Mihailov, Equinox represents something new for Bulgaria. Each individual member is a successful artist in their own right, and they have come together especially for this Eurovision project. You might call them a collective, although they prefer the term “common framework”.
The “Bones” outfit are proving extremely popular on these pages. They’ve already won the best act from the European Union poll and y’all deemed them to be the best of the best at the London Eurovision Party. Meanwhile, the Wiwi Jury ranked them fourth overall.
In second place it’s Hungary’s AWS. They’re the band that gives us quality rock music and tonnes of energy. They attracted 767 votes (22.25%).
We wonder how many voters were won over by band members Áron Veress and Soma Schiszler’s unique reactions to their Eurovision 2018 rivals?
Serbia’s Sanja & Balkanika take bronze. Their traditional Balkan number with a modern electronic twist picked up 354 votes or 10.27% of all votes cast. Not relevant for the purposes of this poll, but would the English version set to a reggae beat have proven as popular?
