Eldar Qasimov

After co-winning and co-hosting the Eurovision Song Contest, Eldar Qasimov didn’t stop to catch his breath. Instead he performed at the closing ceremony of the Islamic Games in 2017 and has released countless singles in countries from Turkey to Kazakhstan.

Eldar has just dropped another hot pop number. “Rising Up” is produced by Swedish duo Johan Jämtberg and Mikael Gunnerås, with Eldar co-writing some of the lyrics. With its modern pop vibe, “Rising Up” encourages you to get up and take control of your life again — no matter how much you’ve been let down and broken. The style is contemporary radio pop, and the contemporary sound lends itself to a modern dance video. Set in Baku and shot over two days, the music video takes Eldar and his crew to three distinct locations. For the first time, we see Eldar busting some highly choreographed moves to this Scandi-pop number.

Speaking exclusively to wiwibloggs, Eldar explains the message behind his new song:

“‘Rising Up’ is a song about flying,” he says. “Leaving your problems behind after a broken heart. This song is not for those who want to cry after a break up. This song is for strong people who have wings to still fly after finding reasons to leave a bad relationship.”

RISING UP (LYRICS) — ELDAR QASIMOV

I am fading…slowly breakin’
My heart is cryin’ out, being torn apart
I ́m outspoken…wings are broken
But I keep holding on…cause you made me strong
This love was created to last till eternity
Still you left me to bleed alone, in my own misery
Listen, stop talkin’ back for a minute
Baby I just hit the limit
And now I ‘m rising up. rising up
You’re no longer the fire
or my object of desire
Yeah now I’m rising up, rising up
Trust me hold me
‘s wut you told me
I gave you every piece
of my attention
Things got gritty
Not so pretty
Right at the lost and found
I found redemption
Won’t cry anymore in my bed when I go to sleep
I don’t care anymore, if drown when I’m in too deep
Listen, stop talkin’ back for a minute
Baby I just hit the limit
And now I ‘m rising up. rising up
You’re no longer the fire
or my object of desire
Yeah now I’m rising up, rising up
Should’ve known better… (x3)
You’re no longer the fire
or my object of desire
Yeah now I’m rising up, rising up
If you call, and your knees are too weak to crawl
I don’t know if I’m gonna hang up the phone, cut you off, like a broken boat, I’m rising up
If you knock on my door, will I open up,
or pretend I’m not home and then shut you out, cast you out

Has he made his outing publicly? Or are there any rumours? I just have this feeling about him…

Right? It’s not a big deal. I have no idea why people congratulate themselves on their superior detective skills…he’s gay, he’s not…so what? He’s not an alien from another planet. Being gay is not uncommon are remarkable.

It seems the long standing tradition of Swedes writing songs for Azerbaijani artists never stops… LOL

The dance moves could be sharper and the pronouncation could be better but great to see another side of him. Hopefully he can follow Margaret’s footsteps and invade Melodifestivalen. I would honestly gag.

I don’t think “Running Scared” was a great song, but I like Eldar’s positive attitude and his devotion to Eurovision. Nice to hear that he’s doing well career-wise.
