After hosting semi-final four of Melodifestivalen 2019, Linköping is back again to host the opening night of the Swedish extravaganza.
Seven acts will take to the stage. Two will advance direct to the final at Friends Arena. Two will have to fight another day in the duels at Andra Chansen. And three acts will advance no further than the stage of the Saab Arena.
You’ve read the media reviews and you’ve heard the snippets. And now you’ve seen the rehearsal clips too. Or 30-second snippets of them at least. So now we want to know who you think should win semi-final 1 of Melfest 2020.
Perhaps you’re moved by The Mamas or Suzi P. Maybe you still carry a torch for Robin Bengtsson. It could be that Malou Prytz is the act you’re in love with this year. Whether it is either of those four or OVÖ, Sonja Aldén or Felix Sandman we want to hear from you.
You can show your love for as many of Saturday night’s acts as you like in our poll below, but make it count because you can only vote once. We’ll close the poll early on Saturday and reveal the results in advance of Saturday night’s semi-final.
Who should win Melodifestivalen 2020 Semi-Final 1?
1. The Mamas – “Move”
2. Suzi P – “Moves”

4. Malou Prytz – “Ballerina”

The audience in Linköping on this nights rehearsal voted Felix and The Mamas to the final. Malou was the third and together whith Robin Bengtsson she will have à second chanse in andra chansen.
None. a bunch of try-hard, uninspired acts.
The Mamas and Robin are the best.
Easy .. Felix and Malou .. robin and mamas to Andra Chansen
I’m going for Malou here. I hope I’ll be surprised tomorrow night but for the moment Malou’s song seems the most interesting.
I never thought I would say this in a SF with both Felix Sandman and Robin Bengtsson, but The Mamas has the most memorable song in this SF. I also like “Boys with Emotions” and ” Take a Chance”, but “Move” will make a bigger impact being also simplier. Anyway, the three are qualifying without doubt as there is no competition. My top: 1. Felix Sandman – Boys with Emotions (7) 2. The Mamas – Move (7) 3. Robin Bengtsson – Take a Chance (6.75) 4. Malou Pritz – Ballerina (5.5) 5. Suzy P – Moves (5) 6. OVÖ –… Read more »
Sandman is divisive on here? That’s interesting and good. That means there is interest building and could lead to a hyped entry, if chosen. Divisive usually does well in contest..
I like Malou and Felix most based on snippets.
The mamas really bring that song alive which makes me like it the most. Wouldn’t even mind seeing it at eurovision.
The Mamas are the best in this semi
Well nothing to die for at the moment. Though it has happened before to like a song that didn’t have a very grabbing snippet. Watching the snippets and the rehearsals here’s my temporary top 7: 1. Robin Bengtsson: it has a melody that gets stuck in your head. Hope it has a peak somewhere cause it seems kinda flat till now 2. The Mamas: nice gospel pop song. Was waiting for something bigger but this is fine 3. Malou Prytz: Well this is my type of music but this one resembles Sia too much I feel; in both music and… Read more »
Felix is arguably the best
So fresh and original
Most of these songs for this first semi really aren’t doing much for me. Ballerina has all the makings of a Eurovision song and performance, but it’s nothing we really haven’t seen before. Watching the rest of the clips I kind of felt nothing, except for Ovo’s song where I felt like there has to be some better part of the song to use as a preview.
I made the effort to watch the 30 second videos from the rehearsals… The Mamas – Catchy, but not a masterpiece Suzy P. – Last year’s ZENA from Belarus copycat… Robin – If I were him I would be ashamed to come back with such a weak song. Also, his hand moves are simply embarassing… Malou – SIA wannabe (same thing, girl lookalike dancing near her. Unfortunately, not only she doesn’t have Sia’s voice, she doesn’t seem to sing. Her backing is covering her. I guess we will see the live performance… Ovo – Like a plate of food without… Read more »
oh god felix improved and grew so much better. his artistic expression is unbelieveable. theres great future ahead of him. lets see if the swedes will recognize his talent or is he too original and fresh for melfest?
Malou DTF! <3 Sounds completely like my type of music 😀
boring, bland, dated type?
Nope, female pop with long notes and attitude <3
The music experts were not wrong, this song from Robin is definitely a banger, this is definitively going to be to top spot for this semi. Also wtf is in 4th in the poll?
its so boring omg hahahah
I like “boys with emotions”. I mean Felix’s song, doh. Also, The Mamas sound great.
Interesting to see Malou Prytz with an early lead in the poll.
Should be a very interesting Semi.
Absolutely the Mamas is the best from this one, it had been on my mind all the day that chorus
1. The Mamas
2. Felix
3. Malou
4. Robin
5,6,7. The other 3
Don’t know because I haven’t heard the full songs so it’s hard to make a decision based on 45+ seconds snippets… for now I’m going for Felix and The Mamas
Robin should go direkt till final for me, along with either Malou or The Mamas. And to be honest I wouldn’t mind if Felix was left out in this semi, it is a really well produced song but can’t seem to like it.
Its still up in the air for me who goes DtF and AC. Just listening to the song Malou would have been a guaranteed DtF and Felix would have been AC but watching the staging I am no longer certain. For now, before I see the live performances in their entirety, this is how I would do it:
DtF: Malou and Felix Sandman
AC: Robin Bengtsson and the Mamas
Wildcard: Suzy P
Maybe I’m the only one, but I don’t like Malou’s song. For me the winners are Robin and Felix. And for the Andra Chansen, The Mamas and Malou/OVÖ.
I like her song, its overt similarity to Sia’s style in terms of the choreo (the Maddie Ziegler-esque dance) that sort of turns me off.
felixxx
FELIX and ROBIN
Felix and Malou
Felix and Robin. 🙂 Take a chance on boys with emotions.
(and also on Sonja Aldén, while you’re at it)
