Today is the day. Live from St. George’s Hall in Liverpool, the Eurovision 2023 handover ceremony and semi-final allocation draw is about to take place.
The semi-finalists of Eurovision 2023 will today find out whether they will perform in the first semi-final on 9 May or the second semi-final on 11 May. Additionally, the Big Five — France, Germany, Italy, Germany and hosts United Kingdom — and last year’s winners Ukraine will also find out which of the two semi-finals they will vote in.
Alongside the allocation draw, we’ll also get our first official look at the United By Music logo and branding in action.
We’ll be bringing you all the action right here, direct from Liverpool.

Eurovision 2023 semi-final allocation draw stream
The Eurovision 2023 allocation draw airs at 19:00 GMT (CET – 1) on BBC Two, iPlayer, and YouTube.
The pots for the semi-final allocation draw were unveiled ahead of the draw. These have been determined based on past voting patterns. Rylan and AJ Odudu are hosting the event, which also includes the transfer of the host city insignias from 2022 host city Turin to 2023 host city Liverpool.
The draw takes place in January — several months before Eurovision — to facilitate the planning and execution of the show. If countries are placed in the first half of the first semi-final, they will obviously need to travel to Liverpool earlier than a country which performs in the second half of the second semi-final.
The exact running order will be announced later on, usually around late March, .Producers will make their decisions based on songs and staging plans, in order to create an entertaining show for viewers and a practical show for production and stage crew.

Finally Austria and Australia are together in 1 semi haha
Has it never happened before?
I just checked and lmao it actually hasn’t xD
Sounds like the kind of thing I would do.
How is she reading the names of the countries… as if the name was also written on the outside back of the paper. Not a drama. just noticed
It looks like it, but I think she does slightly looks down a bit to see the country there’s a TV ahead of her that she can see.
Yeah she def looks before reading it.
Denmark is toast. First Half and zero friends . We need a VERY good song to survive
you have Iceland for company. But it might not be enough.
And so is Estonia
Estonia has never supported Denmark or Iceland
Estonian public often gives points to Denmark and Iceland. For example
2021: 8 points to Denmark in the semi final, 7 to Iceland.
2019: 6 points to Iceland in the semi final. 6 points to Denmark in the final, 5 points to Iceland in the final
2018: 8 points to Denmark in the final.
I guess I should’ve clarified that estonia has never given Denmark or Iceland 12 points, not no points overall. I did a painstaking study tracking down all 52 countries’ 12 point history from the 1975 when the system was first introduced, or from the year of each countries debut after that. When I was working on Estonia, Denmark, or iceland did not show up as recipients of the 12 points. I was so focused on keeping track of the 12 point that I didn’t really look closely at the results from 10 points downward.
Except the Big 5 and the the winning country I would have a a have if fair draw for the rest of the places for for the final I wouldn’t have the semi-finals and the chances of every country having a chance to get into final every year would lot better
I’ve been a Eurovision Song Contestfan. Fan since the age of 15 I’m now 43 years I can honestly say that the Ebu has destroyed the the contest this is not personal when the left Australia come into the competition you know it’s a joke can someone remind me Australia is not part of Europe I am not a fan of the logos and I do not like the semi-finals if I was running the Eurovision Song Contest Australia would be out the semi-finals will be gone I’m a logo to be gone there will be a new way to… Read more »
This is Australia’s last year in the contest.
In its contract. I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets renewed for another five years.
I would not be surprised either… but as things stand now, this is their last year. Until we hear differently from the EBU, that’s how we should take it. It’s not good to just assume that a non-member is permanent.
Yeah, I admit, I forgot 2023 is Australia’s last year of participating under its contract. But I’m pretty sure they’ll sign a new one. I’ll be surprised if they leave. I don’t think Australia’s going anywhere.
It’s not their choice, though. If we all just assume they’ll be back, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. There are others in the queue, like Kazakhstan. Also maybe some members have a problem with a non-member taking their slot in the final. I feel bad for 11th place.
It’s a contest at the end of the day. Also, Eurovision is more popular in Australia than in some ‘older’ ESC countries. It’s a rare phenomenon and hence make sense to have it in the competition.
Eurovision is not the same as it used to be anymore..I ve not watched the show since Terry Wogan left as commentator..his last appearance as commentator was 2008 and I stopped watching since then..but I do follow news about eurovision and listen some if not all of the songs online..world is full of sadness wars diseases with all that I don’t feel like joining the party live to see people celebrating cheering..while people are suffering in pain in hospitals etc..oh an people who go out to the panties together like a good friends next day turn out to be like… Read more »
Are you doing alright? <3
I agree the Countess is now a joke
Then why are you on this website? Genuine question no shade.
If you have not watched the contest in fifteen years, then you are not in a position to judge it. Maybe try watching Liverpool 2023, and then get back to us when you know what you’re talking about.
You don’t know me and you are not in possition to judge me but I can see and know that you replied to too many comments more than to the article. Why don’t you stop being so sad.
I’ve judged you on your own words.
I don’t always agree with Jonas but I’m sure of one thing, I have never seen him say anything senseless and without arguments. You come in here criticizing the contest and saying you haven’t watched it in 15 years. How can you criticise something you no longer know? You remind me of all those people in my country (where the contest is not a big event) who say that it is old-fashioned and doesn’t attract anyone just because they don’t watch it or no longer do. You took the time to give your opinion but it means absolutely nothing. It’s… Read more »
Jonas is judging you based on what you wrote while you’re calling Jonas sad for being active on this website.
Do you see the issue here?
Eurovision is better than it used to be.
There will always be horrid things happening the world. Does not mean that we should avoid doing happy and cheerful things? No. And like Jonas already said, ESC has drastically changed in the last 15 years so if you have not followed it since 2008 you don’t know what modern ESC is like.
I would really recommend you watch ESC’s 2009-2022. You’re missing out on many incredible moments, performances, songs and singers.
When I presented my statistics, I realized there are some countries that have remained stuck in one semi for the last few years, and I wondered who has remained in one the longest, so here are my findings: Semi Final 1: Croatia: 3 (2021, 2022, 2023) Latvia: 2 (2022, 2023) Moldova: 2 (2022, 2023) Netherlands: 2 (2022, 2023) Norway: 3 (2021, 2022, 2023) Portugal: 2 (2022, 2023) Switzerland: 2 (2022, 2023) Semi final 2: Australia: 2 (2022, 2023) Belgium: 2 (2022, 2023) Cyprus: 2 (2022, 2023) Estonia: 2 (2022, 2023) Georgia: 3 (2021, 2022, 2023) Poland: 3 (2021, 2022, 2023)… Read more »
I really do think the pot system is great
Also a fun observation, in SF 1 12/15 countries have won the contest (Yugoslavia’s win was with a Croatian band), while in SF 2 only five countries have won the contests (with 7/8 countries in the second half having never won)
And if you looked at who qualified last year in each semi final, 10 of the semi final 1 countries qualified last year, while 9 of the semi final 2 countries qualified last year. I wracked my brain trying to make the math make sense in semi final 2 like “9? Shouldn’t it be ten” until I realized ” duh, Ukraine is an automatic qualifier”.
This is interesting… Makes me think.
So statically the winner is more likely to come from the first semi…? Hmmm.
I didn’t say cha but all I’m thinking about is cha.
Gojo is testing something so I wanna test something too
Just want to test something: Israel
Do you mean: Isn’t Real? /s
I’m not kidding, waiting for the reveal of “Unicorn” for another month is simply torture!
But because it takes time to shooting the music video (the shooting has already started) so it will take time. And I understand that it’s a calculated and smart move to reveal the song near the deadline, but for me it’s really distressing.Uff..
Barur lakhem sh’hakhafira al Israel kol shniya stam ma’atzbenet anashim nakhon??? Gam kakha yesh po male’ khayeem beseret lama lehosif delek la’medoora???
It’s OK, the readers of this site were always jealous, when Israel won in 2018 I saw the reactions, everyone praised Fuego and laughed at TOY, but Europe chose otherwise! The readers of this site will not vote for Israel, no matter what, so it’s really not interesting what they think, let them eat their hearts out.
You don’t know that tho! You’re just alienating more people! There are some really nice people here that would vote for any country if they like their song enough.
I don’t know what’s your goal here, if you want to play the role of an ambassador for Israel, but you really need to calm down. I’ve never seen that much hate against Israel here. And you’re completely lying about Netta. Back in 2018 she was praised for the win by a lot of people in the eurosphere. Of course people hated the song. I mean, the song was not meant to leave people indifferent. People either loved it, or they thought it was kitsch. In the end, there were still a lot of people supporting it. Anyway, it’s time… Read more »

UNICORN GOT LEAKED!
The beginning is the exact to that of Merlyn and “Unicorn Vibes” from Eesti Laul 2023 though.
Yeah I was just trying to troll Ritoli and apparently that makes me “not credible” now lol.
Lol whats up with Israel this year?
Nothing it’s just Ritoli being annoying as f about Israel every damn second.
Something to note from the Allocation Draw show. In Turin we had already the correct graphics on screen with their final animations. In Liverpool just some static standard cards for the semifinals compositions. Are they studying an overhaul of the graphics or just a choice/delay?
If I.M which was the worst song that Israel sent, song number 2 and the worst performance (without even fireworks) got the 13th place in the audience last year, then I have no doubt that Noa will win the Semi Final.
OMG! I CAN’TTTTTT!!!!!!!!! XoX!!
Israel in 2023:
I’m excited! Everything works out!
The budget claim we’re just fake news that got spread everywhere, it’s the harder semi and also according to doron it’s not a feminist song, it’s more about accepting the difference of yourself.
I can’t wait for March.. I can’t F wait!!! a storm is coming… OMG!
BTW her “Gone” video got 17 million views in just 2 weeks.. so “Unicorn” will get even more, I think it will break Netta record.. We’ll wait and see..
“Atlantic Records” DAMN! they will do whatever it takes for Noa to win.
Don’t we have to wait until 2038 for the next Israeli win (1978-1998-2018 etc)
Won also in 1979… so it’s not every 20 years…
1. its the harder semi
2. not a feminist song
3. last time israel won the contest was in portugal not the uk
@Ritoli, I understand your excitment, but you forgot to mention one crucial thing – ISRAEL MIGHT NOT PARTICIPATE this year due to problems of KAN TV, which is about to be closed. Bibi Netanyahu’s goverment wants to cut TV’s budget dramatically, which means that in practice KAN might be shut down.. even if KAN survives they might not have enough money for Eurovision and promotion… but lets hope Noa manages to participate in Liverpool!
we get it please stop spamming everywhere we don’t need to be converted to whatever religion noa is running.
u are actually making me want to vote less for Israel, I was actually excited
Little wins for some countries and little losses for others. As long as a country sends a good song with a good performance, they usually have a decent chance of doing well regardless.
There is so much hatred for Israel here, probably out of jealousy, so success in this year’s Eurovision will be sweeter than ever! Good luck Queen Noa Kirel!
You do realize all you’re doing is fueling it right?
I love that everyone hates Israel this year but despite all that everything works out! An excellent position in the order of the songs, an excellent semi-final with no threats and this year there are no judges either, it all depends on the audience and the audience will love Kirel’s performance. The song is also in English so that more people will connect to it. And don’t forget that it’s a feminist song, it was successful in 2018 and 2021, there’s no reason why it won’t be successful this year as well. I’m really not worried, most of the songs… Read more »
You are so bloody annoying it’s not even funny anymore.
im actually confused why is it downvoted someone explain?
they keep spamming stuff about Israel and its annoying the crap out of most people
Go touch some grass, man!
Off-topic: we know the line-up of PIN Semi-Finals and SF2 looks somewhat stronger. SF1 has contender such as Gabrielius Vagelis, Petunija, Ruta Mur and Juste Kraujelyte. I think they’re sure qualifiers with the fif?h spot going either for Alen Chicco, Donata, NOY or Joseph June. On the other hand, the SF2 has Beatrich, PAULINA, Monika Linkyte, Gebrasy, Mario Junes, Agne, AKD…
When I looked up the semi final splits, I was really annoyed that they only moved four songs in total to the other semi. If you weren’t going to take the effort to truly shuffle things around, then just keep the all semi finalists as they are for a next level filtering. On the other hand, Petunija could benefit being placed with the heat 1 qualifiers because it’s better than most of them (other than the three artists you listed, I’m struggling to think of a fifth finalist from the rest). I’m definitely going to lose one of my favorites… Read more »
You guys are so far from reality ? Why not wait before doing presumptions of this is going to win this because of this and that??? This is just ridiculous, the worst of Eurovision are drama queen’s and the majority of so called “fans”, you guys should be ASHAME, and don’t deserve this show either. ??
Today Junior ESC was cited at the hearing in the International Criminal Court in The Hague. The case is Armenia v Azerbaijan when kids from Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) who took part in JESC were stuck in Yerevan due to blockage of the road by Azerbaijan. On their way back after 40 days of siege Armenian kids were they attacked by masked Azerbaijanis and were terrorised.
thats terrifying, whoever downvoted you should be ashamed. Hopefully it ends in favor of human rights
Great draw for Albania. It definitely will be qualifying.
Wait until all or most of the songs are out before you make a declaration like that.
No matter what, Albania is DOA.
I just realize something. Australia, Cyprus, Denmark, and Greece are all in the same semifinal. That means Greece and Cyprus will not only give each other 12 points, but they could each get 12 points from Australia and Denmark because of their singers. Cyprus the singer is actually from Australia and Greece’s singer is half danish.
I agree totally, unless a not so good song or really bad performance cyprus should sail out of this semi.
My only concern both cyprus and greece have young male singers and both ballads from what we know so far, could they cancel each other out in the final with a split vote
Yes, there’s always the chance that they could cancel each other out for being so similar, but there’s also it’s a chance that both songs could be bad, and despite their usual support each other, this could be the first year that Cyprus AND Greece failed to qualify. But I don’t think Cyprus is doing the ballad route. Their singer strikes me more someone who does upbeat tunes. Like I said, they could get a boost from Australia and Denmark, like Norway gave their top points to Greece, because their singer was from Norway, but only if they both have… Read more »
Armenia will also vote for Cyprus and Greece despite they both voted for Azerbaijan last year
I doubt many Danes would vote for it based in that alone. Perhaps if it’s a good song and performance it could be the thing tipping the decision in his favor, but… most people won’t care too much. Not if there are better songs on offer.
One thing to note here is that we pay for each vote in Denmark AND you can only vote for each entry once. So voting for too many entries basically waters your vote down. I don’t see people throwing him a vote unless he and his song are actually good.
Fair point, and if it’s not a good song, then you vote for something else that you think is better. But you can’t deny that Norway did gave 3/4 of its 12 points towards Greece last year (the full 24 points in the semi finals, and their jury’s 12 points in the final— the other quarter went to Ukraine in the Televote) because the singer was from Norway. They don’t normally vote for Greece, even when they have good songs.
It’s not just because Amanda Tenfjord is Norwegian, but because she had a song that it’s kind of what Norway likes (and that is always in the MGP, getting good results).
I don’t. I just think there were different reasons for that. Amanda was somewhat known in Norway before being selected, so that helped. But juries everywhere gave her points for a reason. The Danish jury gave her 12 point in the final as well. They surely didn’t care she was Norwegian. I think the music style is key here. It sounds like a lot of songs that are popular in the Nordics (more specifically like *cough* Lorde). Had her song been in the Greek style, would the Norwegian jury still have awarded her 12 points? Doubtful in my opinion. I’m… Read more »
once? but the hosts say up to 20 times
Usually these draw shows are such a snoozefest! But this year was actually good. Charismatic good hosts, short show presentation, going straight to the point. No musical breaks or anything. Very good job BBC!
yay, we dodged 2nd spot
but tbh, why are there almost 300 comments? xd does it matter that much?
What’s your country?
Probably Albania lol
I think he might be Polish because normally David is spelled with a V, but Dawid’s name is spelled with a W instead of a V, and the letter W is pronounced as a V in the Polish language. Poland is in the second half of semi final 2, so his country is lucky.
I figured. Your name spelling made it obvious.
BBC News after allocation draw William trashes entries from Albania Ukraine and Belgium as not strong enough too win instead of just agreeing to say which it is too early as all National entries not chosen yet or they are not my taste in music to judge as potential winners and then bragging about being on the jury in Spain. Sorry William we all have opinions on tastes but for once think your comments on national tv are out of order to the above 3 countries and there supporters.
The fact is the songs are not strong enough to win… (And I am from Belgium). Why would he say ”yeah they could win” when it is obviously not the case ? It would be hypocritical to say otherwise
Aubin with respect i think you’ve missed my point. On this platform we can all express our personal tastes likes and dislikes. I personally think one of the current three is good and im enjoying the track. Will it win. Who knows but i think its a Top 10 song (Belgium). Sweden is already 100% qualified.
The SF is televote only
And Sweden has made it to the top 10 of the Televote in the semi finals every year since 2009. Yes, even the one time Sweden failed to qualify in 2010, it was because of the juries, not the televote. Their worst result in the televote was finishing 10th in 2021, and they also got their worst jury result as well with six place for an overall seventh Place finish, which is their lowest qualifying position ever with the jury-televote combo. Sweden failing to qualify would be a huge shock, but I doubt that will happen even with 100% televote.… Read more »
Charlotte Perelli was saved by the jury with “Hero” she was only 12th in televote. No country has 100% record with the televote
That’s why she said “since 2009”.
Their 2021 Televote was partly due to a favourable starting position, no berth # 2 for them, poor Ana from Slovenia was saddled with that. They couldn’t even come up with an original title. This has got to stop.
Sweden actually was placed in the number 2 spot in the second semi final for 2008, but that may have been from random draw. Sweden actually would have failed to qualify as they finished 12th place in the televote, but they were saved by the jury wildcard. It’s why I don’t like people suggesting bringing back the wild card because I feel it is unfair to countries who finished 10th place and be robbed of qualifying.
Yes, I think the random draw was abolished in 2013. Where was that contest held again? I favour wildcard as it means Croatia would have qualified in 2021.
Not sure about it.. they might send Marcus and martinus instead of loreen/Jon henrik.
will the Swedes vote for someone that isn’t Swedish to represent them? On one hand, that will automatically get them 12 points from Norway, but we’ll have to see if they have the best song in melfest.
Some countries with strong diaspora in the semis will literally crash the televote while others are going to struggle a lot.
Look at e.g. Serbia, just based on the voting pattern and diaspora votes, their spot in the final is pretty much secured, the same applies for Lithuania and Armenia in the second semi.
Btw, this really feels like a TBT to 2000s when we had no juries in the semis, exciting times for sure!!!
Serbia has not strong diaspora at all because it is not in EU, but Croatia has almost half a million but it doesn’t help her.
What has actually the EU to do with it? Do you want to tell me that Turkey also doesn’t have strong diaspora just because they’re not an EU member?
If it is a good song diaspora will help. Like Poland 2016. But a bad song will still get a bad result, regardless diaspora. Did diaspora help Croatia in 2019 for instance?
Diaspora could give you a boost, but you still need to have a good song to take you over the edge.
Armenia performs first half of the show again. We’re doomed
Speaking of Armenia, it’s now officially announced that Brunette will represent your country at Eurovision.
Armenian diaspora stopped voting for Armenia a long time ago. We just heavily rely on Europeans. No neighbour voting for us, too.
So based on the allocation draw I just want to say which songs would be suitable for each country to choose from the national finals for me. I’ll just do the first half of the first semi for now cuz Benidorm is starting lol. Croatia – I can’t really see anything else donig well except Nevera(Lei,lei), since it’s a pretty upbeat song and being in the first part of the first semi-final it could be memorable. They can even use it as an opener. Ireland can do pretty well with Connoly – the song needs to go before the end… Read more »
Okay, now that the semi final allocation has been done and dusted, it is time to present my upgraded statistics on each countries’ frequencies of ending up in semi final 1 or 2. This is amazing
I was going to say the same. Why are people downvoting you?
wiwibloggers (or better said, folks who vote) can be quite unpredictable and weird, so to speak xd
I’ve had my share of perfectly innocuous comments get downvoted for no reason. I hope sol’s nationality isn’t the reason he constantly gets down voted.
I thought it was because of my general opinions that get me naturally downvoted. I did not even think about me being Israeli as a potential reason why but it won’t shock me if that is the reason.
I hope not! I had a lovely visit to Eilat a few years back. At least you don’t drone on about Azerbaijan, “Melfest Rejects” and dissing Malta at every opportunity. FYI I have backed Israel at 50/1, now 25s so I already consider myself a winner.
Me too, and it’s surprising bc I’ve made some edgy comments that are even upvoted from time to time
At the end of the day everyone can do what they want. If I wanna express an opinion, I’mma do it. I couldn’t care less what some randoms on the internet think about me or my thoughts on things.
I’m not very popular around this parts you see ; D
I want to say, Rylan was a fantastic host. I would love to see him and AJ host in may.
Are joke he’s fool
I am very happy for Israel! In the second part of the semi, only 10 countries will qualify out of 15, with a memorable and bombastic performance, which we already know it will be (with an investment of almost 1 million dollars), the qualification to the final is guaranteed. I can’t F wait!
Man, this Israel overhyping is making me unsure about Israel.
I think Noa is a terrific performer and that the song will be –at least, good, but the way her team has been handling the build up is rather exaggerated and concerning
There are only a couple people on this site who are overhyping Israel don’t worry. A lot of Israeli’s can get ummm delusional? Yeah that’s the word. Not everyone of course, but many.
Delusional is a bit too strong a word, so I would say over-excited. It’s one thing to be excited but you can go overboard. Dial it back.
Nah a lot of Israelis are delusional. Trust me I live here lol. Not talking just about ESC. About life in general lol.
But hey every country has those kinda people.
Relaxxxx. This budget claims are false
Semifimal 1: Could be a semifinal bloodbath, could be a weak overhyped semifinal like semifinal 2 in 2018. What’s certain, is Malta and Latvia being 100% non-qualifiers regardless of what happens.
Semifinal 2: Seems like a weak semifinal and most probably will actually be weak, but could potentionally be very surprisingly strong. I see Iceland and Albania as non-qualufiers though.
As for the little we’ve got, I’d agree. But it can turn out the other way around once most entries are announced
Ireland and Malta screwed from every possible perspective. Academic who goes now.
It looks like Latvia has to send some rock kind of entry or something that is loud. With that I mean INSPO(THE BEST CHOICE!!!),Raum or Sudden Lights because eventhough Patrisha’s song or Luize song are nice but they also nowing the circumstances I don’t think will really stand out and it seems like there could be no other rock type of entries in 1st semifinal so it will definetely stand out.
SUdden lights may be a good choice, but only if the vocalists have solid vocals. Also, judging from 2022 – Citi zeni was a joke entry after hearing the audio only, the visual is what brought the song to the limelight. Let’s hope there’s a similar situation in 2023 – there should be some sort of a visual appeal as the semi will be determined by the audience vote only.

There are a lot of armchair experts here making predictions based on running order, according to my calculations only 6 out of 37 songs have been selected at this point, personally I think people but a little too much weight on where a country performs, like for example Ireland being second to perform has been written off even though only one song has been selected so far in SF1, it might be wise to wait a few weeks to get a more rounded picture.
Sure qualifiers semi 1:
– The Czech Republic
Sure qualifiers semi 2:
How on Earth are Belgium and Lithuania sure qualifiers?
First time ESC viewer? Lithuanian diaspora is a meme at this point. They can qualify with anything.
Can they? There have been years where Lithuania missed out on the final. Three times during the 100% televote years (2004, 2005, and 2008), and four times in the last decade (televote did not qualify Lithuania in 2014 and 2017 while the juries held back lithuania from qualifying in 2010 and 2019, despite finishing within the top 10 of the televote). Ironically, there was one year where Lithuania would have failed to qualify with the Tele vote, but they qualified with the jury, that was 2011 (which is also the one time they actually won the jury vote, weird). Yes,… Read more »
There’s also another thing you need to consider. Yes, the United Kingdom is voting in semifinal two, and Lithuania usually takes the top marks from the British televote, but you’ve also got another country with a diaspora in the United Kingdom, Poland, if they have a good song too. The last time Lithuania and Poland were in the same semifinal was 2016, also with the United Kingdom voting, and they finished in the top two of the British televote that year (Lithuania 12 points and Poland 10 points). There’s also Ukraine voting as well, and their televote were generous to… Read more »
I wouldn’t be so sure until most of the songs are announced/determined
Other than Belgium, all those countries haven’t selected their entries yet. I won’t make any predictions about qualification until most countries have selected or revealed their songs by mid-March.
Something needs to be done to split Scandinavia up more effectively
More comments on why? Apart of few exceptions, none of this makes sense
Psst! You’re still on time to say this is bait
Who were all the Liverpool people in the opening video? I didn’t realise they were famous until it was over.
I only recognized Danny Beard from Drag Race UK 4.
An actor from “Brookside”, a television show. An Olympic gold medalist. Two of Atomic Kitten. Somebody who was in the Phantom of the Opera movie. This is all I could find out.
More like Atomic Mutton at this stage.
i swear Ireland are done so dirty every year. only qualified 1 time since 2013 liek what do we have to do
Send a strong song and stage it properly. That would be helpful.
CONNOLLY Or wild youth ?
you just saved me the trouble of having to reply to david.100% agree
What Do you mean
RTE can stage well no doubt- it’s just that they can’t get the right song- Connolly I think could be that song though and if it sneaks through i see it getting mid table
Send a decent song and stage a decent performance. Kinda like what you did in 2018, which funnily enough… last time Ireland qualified
Stop pitying and do things right, Ireland has the means to do so
You are disliked like the uk I am afraid
SF2 preliminary breakdown
Not very optimistic about Georgia either since they’re using a talent show this year.
You could’ve said your not going to vote for anyone and save us your wall of text -.-
I’m only voting for 3 or 4 at most and I would have preferred the first SF anyway. On a more positive note, I can already tell you this is the first time I could be voting for Denmark if they somehow choose Soren, so there’s that at least.
predicting norway or finland but most likely sweden to win semi 1
id love to see czechia winning the semi
predicting that estonia may actually win the semi if they send alika or if armenia sends an rnb banger then sure why not. idk hard to predict
I’d rather hold out for Sweden myself, they might make it through, but I can’t see them winning
Finland would make a great semi 1 closer with Cha cha cha.
I must say the hosts were great, didn’t spot any mistake during the allocation draw. Just perfect. I hope at least Rylan will be hosting the main shows.
They were lovely : )
There was the bowls, wrong bowls/balls thing, but they made it fun.
When she said she sometimes gets her bowls mixed up I loled
Fans literally always do this, they pick one semi and say how it is so stronger than the other when we don’t even have the confirmed songs. How do you know that countries in sf2 will send particularly bad songs? I personally think that both semis feel balanced and we shouldn’t make any preductions until we get the songs.
Yeah I don’t see either one of them as deathy yet.
I agree. I feel like fans are only making assumptions about the strengths of each semi final based on the track record of the countries sorted in them, maybe by their national finals. It’s not a guarantee. Countries that are usually strong could send something weak and weaker countries could send something strong for a comeback. It’s all in the air now.
Like how it happened with 2018’s 2nd semi.
Poland and San Marino are in the second half of semi final 2, so they can’t get the death slot. So that leaves Belgium or somebody else in the first half.
The two countries who’re getting death slotted this year ain’t qualifying I’m calling it right now lmao
This year the semi-finals are without judges! No more corruption! So it all depends on the audience! This is going to be interesting! I wonder which country will close the semi-final, Israel or Sweden? hmm..
Or Finland, or Switzerland, or The Netherlands, or Moldova…
Yeah because the audience is so reliable. Juries make better choices than Televote lol. this will blow up in the EBUs face when the contest gets seen as a giant circus where music doesn’t matter. juries and televote are needed.
You’re kidding with Belgium right?
I doubt they’ll win, but surely their qualification chances just went way up.
Have they? Have they really?
Lol only three countries picked their songs and people are already naming death semis. Relax people. We might just get two below average semi-finals like in 2017 or two bloodbaths like in 2010 and 2011. You never know what countries can surprise.
Lol. 2017 was stronger than 2010 and 2011 combined.
Not even close

Semi 2 might end up being stronger because we have a lot less info about it. First half of semi 1 we know that Ireland, Croatia, Malta, Latvia and probably Portugal are not going to do too hot. Norway and Serbia statistically are in a VERY good spot. Regardless of who’s Norway gonna send, they will advance. We know Sweden will most likely Q and so will Finland even if they end up sending Robin, Benjamin or Keira instead of Wrapper. Moldova will likely send Sunstroke Project or Pasha whom would both qualify fairly easily here. Israel has Noa Kirel… Read more »
i agree with the part that semi 2 might end up stronger
*cough* 2021 *cough*
i disagree that czech *might* qualify. Wth? they are already top 10 with my sisters crown
Many people thoughts 2018’s second semi would be stronger too but there were super wrong there too.
I guess the downvotes are because I don’t think Czech Rep is a dead certain qualifier yet.
You possibly eliminate Portugal who’s got by far one of the strongest selections but Noa Kirel is already “Gucci”, haha, okay.
I don’t think Portugal’s selection is strong but I recognize Portugal’s magic. I’m not writing them off by any means but I’m currently doubting them placing in the top 15 in the grand final based on what I heard. Wait 2 months and I’ll see what I’ll feel there.
You forgot to mentioned I added the word “Probably”. Nice way to try and twist it to paint me as delusional. I don’t think Israel is a dead certain qualifier at the moment.
Israel is almost certain because it’s probably going to be the type of entry that excites this fandom, I agree with that, but Portugal should surely be up there too, especially in a 15-country SF.
I can’t say whether I think Portugal will Q cus I don’t know what Azerbaijan, Netherlands & Switzerland are sending yet. If one of them comes out tomorrow and its absolute trash then yeah Portugal will most likely Q.
Also exciting the fandom does not mean a good ESC result. Look at Iceland 2016, Finland & Estonia 2017, Greece 2018, Albania 2022 and so on and so on.
Portugal not doing good? Imagine you haven’t heard FDC… LOL
Man, SF1 will be a bloodbath for sure! It’s so uneven and stacked at the same time 😮
Fans literally always do this, they pick one semi and say how it is so stronger than the other when we don’t even have the confirmed songs. How do you know that countries in sf2 will send particularly bad songs? I personally think that both semis feel balanced.
Man, calm down, it was my first impression xd
