Poll: Who should win Portugal’s Festival da Canção 2025?
Vote for as many of the acts as you would like. You’ll only have one chance to submit your votes, so think carefully before doing so.
As usual, Festival da Canção 2025 will consist of two semi-finals and a final.
Six songs will qualify from each semi-final — five from a combined jury and public voting, then an additional act from a second round of purely televote.
Which act from Festival da Canção 2025 is standing out the most to you? Who could give Portugal another top ten result at Eurovision? Share your thoughts in the comments.
Henka with “I want to Destroy you” it´s a Anthem for Trump?
Henka (??) A sidestep performed at the tachi-ai to avoid an attack and set up a slap-down technique, but this is often regarded as unsportsmanlike.
There are good songs, however Josh deserves to win, is a beautiful and emotional song.
“Tristeza” is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard.
I’ll go with Peculiar – Adamastor. He was the one with Henka who caught my attention the most. I love the various types of beats in this song from the calm like the sea it describes at the beginning to a much more fighting/war mention in the lyrics. I love those types of songs so I’m biased. Nonetheless as usual Portugal is sending so many amazing songs that would end up in my playlist even if they don’t win <3
Cotovia is such a masterpiece!
I can’t see Henka getting much from the Portuguese jury unless she brings a strong vocal and visually stunning staging. I also love when people complain that it’s in English—practically most songs for Eurovision are in English and nobody on these comments section complains, but when Portugal brings an English language song—they get dragged. No one batted an eyelash The Code was in English. No one complained Baby Lasagna didn’t sing in Croatian. Norway has ZERO songs in Norwegian this year and no one seems to complain about that. But Portugal is committing a grave musical sin because a London-based… Read more »
agree 100%
THANK YOU!
What is Luca Argel’s idea in offending the Portuguese?
It may even have a good intention in exposing the theme of xenophobia, but it also conveys the idea of Portugal colonized by Brazil, I fear that the far right will go in that direction in its criticisms
I just explained because I was downvoted
It seems to me that someone is here normalizing Brazilian hate speech for Portuguese people, parts of the lyrics are arguments used by Brazilian xenophobes on social media, I am impartial in these matters, I like Luca’s songs and his activism but here he got a little out of hand
What are you on about? I’m portuguese and I’m not offended by it, on the contrary, I’m elated that someone is actually touching this topic in a main stage. It’s very much needed for us to confront our own xenophobia and the effects of colonialism.
“he got a little out of hand”
“Adamastor” got instantly my attention and there are probably a few growers. I don’t get the popularity of “I wanna destroy U” and I don’t expect the Portuguese public to go for it anyway. Overall a good selection as usual for Portugal.
Lisboa and Tristeza are amazingly beautiful
Snoozefest, baita jurureza
Sweety, keep on reading your A B C book, you might get a brain one day
Please listen to that destroy you song and tell me if you managed to fall asleep, if you did please tell me your secret XD
I think I am beginning to get tired of songs like I want to destroy you at Eurovision! Originality is essential . I would go for Tristeza purely on the basis its emotional and stunningly beautiful. If Portugal wants to win it , go for the latter.
Tristeza is my favourite, too. But there are again a lot of strong suggestions in portuguese final.
Please not the only song in English…. It doesn´t really fit to Portugal
JOSH is working with Iolanda’s staging director so I have high hopes. He seems to be doing his homework and this song seems to be created for the stage.
You’re tired why? It’s the first time FDC has a song like this, and we dont get it often in ESC. There’s nothing original about tristeza. It’s just another Portuguese ballad, similar to many more to come. And songs shouldnt have to be original anyway. It’s eurovision song contest, not eurovision original song contest.
And I’ll say it once again: Portugal never disappoints! The number of musically talented young people there is just incredible. By far the best national selection, at least for me.
my favourites are “i wanna destroy u” and “lisboa”
henka is the new baby lasagna
A Cantadeira – Responso e Mulher is so good!
Marco Rodrigues – A Minha Casa a bit basic but also very good honestly
Tota is a nice gem too a-te-xis is very lovely
Quem Foi? has amar pelos dois vibes
i understand tristeza… it’s a tricky choice the staging will have to prevent it from sounding boring, but it’s beautiful. but I wanna destroy you ????? really ???????? don’t get it at all, sorry….. maybe with the staging.
Anime Movies can´t you see? The Japanese Culture in Global World?
I’m not usually a big fan of the songs from Portugal in Eurovision, but are there any in this selection that are worth listening to?
why the downvotes? maybe just answer my question?
Because Online is available for all… and your statement was already biased ( don’t know if Wiwiblogs intensive censorship will allow this answer)
lol I literally just asked if you guys could recommend a song or two I could listen to? I dont have time to listen to them all. It was just a normal question wtf
Your question is impossible to answer. You’ll have to make up your own mind on this, I’m afraid
Its not impossible to answer my question. If you have a favorite then you could recommend that one for example
Read the below comments, plenty of favourites there.
okay but I asked a question in my first comment which is not impossible to answer. Just a normal question, so I dont understand the downvotes 🙂
I’d recommend Josh, Xico, Tota and, if you’re an old fogey like me, Luca Argel. Actually the best thing you can do is listen to them all, you won’t regret it.
I will try take a listen when I have time. Thank you for your answer!
Instead of posting an idiotic statement here, why you don’t go and check? It is online, gosh….
bro wtf it was just a question. you could ignore it if you dont wanna recommend me a song….. I swear this community sometimes ….
i disagree usually Portugal sends one of the most interesting selections according to me (and many people) .. Let’s say it’s not the best year but I’m sorry : have you e-v-e-r listened to any othe national selections ? I mean : Portugal is obviously waaaayyy far from being the worst one or ridiculous. It’s always at least good every year.
I’m not saying Portugal are bad, but they’re just never usually my favorites. It’s just a personal taste, which is fair. Now that the others won’t answer, can you recommend a song or two for me to listen to this year?
If hearing more than 3 chords in a song usually disturbs you, I’d kindly recommend switching to MGP and staying away from Portugal.
I recommend you listen to the snippets, I can’t guess which music genre is your favorite
Josh’s song, if performed well, could win the jury vote in May. It’s stunning
I think could could do a 2017 and win both jury and televote if his perfomance is like this. For sure a strong contender and so appropriate for the world we live in at the moment.
I think Henka is my winner not just this years FdC but in this years NF’s.
Sadly I don’t think that in Portugal she has a chance but miracles can still happen.
Which country sent something like Conan Osiris? Portugal is surely one of the boldest countries in Eurovision and I wouldn’t be surprised ( nor angry) if they decided to send Henka, even if I personnally prefer other songs
Diana Vilarinho for sure.
This year’s FDC is really good, with diverse styles competing. In fact I don’t hate any, but I have a bunch I really like: the stunning ballad of Josh, the hard metal rock/evanescence reminder song of Henka, tribal Peculiar, ethinical A Cantadeira, 80’s funk of Bombazine, Indie Ines, jazzy Jessica…. Quality for sure. Bravo, Portugal
Henka’s is the type of generic rock song that Finland would send, Portugal is better than this…
”portugal is better than this” Portugal has rock music, not just finland. Dear eurofans from other countries, i would love if you tried listening to more portuguese artists outside FDC.
There’s nothing wrong with being generic, many generic songs end up in top5 in ESC.
People need to understand that Portugal has different music, from any genre. I think it’s disrespectful to the artist to say Portugal is better than a song they made. What would please you? a jazz, slow paced song? a ballad with fado influence?
Ai Senhor! Then Calafrio, although the coda is a bit repetitive. Bombazine could be this year’s Joker Out.
A lot of very well produced, chilled out tracks.
Don’t get the hype about Henka at all.
I dont get the hype about Josh.
Henka will destroy us all. Yay 🙂
Tristeza sung by Josh is my big favorite
That song is stunning
Has to be Henka for me. It really stands out in this collection.
wonderful, no toxic positivity in this song, haha
Toy? 2018? And it won…
After Bambie there should be a hiatus of 5 years before anyone sends another “I want to kill you” song.
??Exactly??
Can we apply that to ballads and pop divas too or does it just apply to rock artists
