In 2013 she won Lo Zecchino d’Oro, the most important televised children’s music festival in Italy.
And on Tuesday Fiamma Boccia reminded the world exactly why Italy is so smitten with her when she revealed her Junior Eurovision 2016 entry “Cara mamma” (Dear mom).
Fiamma — whose name means flame — brings major fire-power to this Italian-language power ballad. We are feeling the heat and we are loving the burn!
The video sees her looking casual and relaxed as she belts it out Celine Dion style in the recording studio.
Singing about the devotion and love of her dear mother, we see Fiamma’s own mother admiring her offspring. Given Fiamma’s voice and control, we can’t blame her.
The song seems tailor-made for the juries, who love ballads and seem particularly taken with larger-than-life voices (cue Gaia Cauchi, Vincenzo Cantiello and Destiny Chukunyere).
Born and raised in Florence, the teenager loves Italian, history and English, and she’s played the piano since she was four years old.
According to Italian media she also loves the colour red and tagliatelle with meat sauce, making her a teenager of our own heart.
This girl does not and will never need Auto-Tune.
Just listen to her absolutely slaying Un Natale da amare on Christmas Eve in 2013.
She’s had nearly three years to grow and develop since then, so we can only imagine how strong her voice will be when she lands in Malta this November.
@Polegend Godgarina
And they actually over-support you at times. For example, in Eurovision 2011 they gave you the first place just because you returned after many years of absence. The same goes for Junior Eurovision 2014 (you debuted that year). They didn’t want you to withdraw.
No reason to nag while they have overrated you in both Eurovision and Junior Eurovision.
@Polegend Godgarina
Oh, please stop it. The juries usually support you. But in Eurovision 2015 they sabotaged you because you sent bland and generic pop-opera crap. Thank God they exist.
Polegend Godgarina-I do not think that the judges will take points from Italy for not wanting to host. There was perhaps a bit of this last year, as a backlash of the excessive backing of Vincenzo, who took what rightfully belonged to Krisia and the twins, only for the JESC to find that their scheming did not bring the competition in Italy. I like to think that Italy’s inability to host and the 2015 low ranking are simply a result of the accumulated bad karma in the previous year. I personally liked Chiara and Martina and they were higher on… Read more »
Hmmm..I’d liked more a boy singer.
Plus, she sounds in the video like she’s using a lot of auto-tune in her voice.
The lyrics are beautiful and all,but..hmm. I don’t what really to say, but Italy could have done a lot more.
Meh.
I knew my country wouldn’t disappoint. The quality, the talent, the voice… whew, I’m slayed. Y’all need to look up the lyrics because they’re wonderful. I just wish it was 100% in Italian. Our best entry, BOTH of JESC and ESC, I ain’t kidding… but watch those tasteless juries sabotage us again simply because our flop broadcaster doesn’t want to host.
Fanatic esc: “Next girl ballad? No no no. Why Italy, why?” Álex, from Spain: “We’ll never have fun songs like in the 2000’s anymore…Junior Eurovision is turning to be a girl ballad contest.” MirkoJoshua: “Italy will never host!” Me: “Ok guys, calm down. There’s no need to be all negative about this year’s entry for Italy. Hopefully, the entries for the remaining countries (Armenia, Ireland, Israel, Georgia, Malta, and Poland) will be energetic! Also, of Italy wins this year, it’s up to their broadcaster to decide if Italy’s up to hosting JESC in the future. Furthermore, there’s no such thing… Read more »
Excellent choice from Italy, it also is a real grower. I would’ve preferred a bit of a more intense tempo change on the chorus , but the last speaking part gives me chills. I think Italy will do really good this year, it might be a contender!

Next girl ballad? No no no. Why Italy, why?
Italy will probably do really good with the juries. It’s a pity that they decide 100% of the results, because we’ll never have fun songs like in the 2000’s anymore… 🙁 Junior Eurovision is turning to be a girl ballad contest.
This song is adorable <3 This will defenitly do good <3
Such a moving and meaningful song! <3
This year's JESC is going to be the best ever!
@MirkoJoshua
You never know, considering that Malta picked such a small venue, the costs must be lower than usual. I think it’s completely profitable hosting
@beccaboo1212 Italy would never host
Russia is not my favourite anymore.
Italy never disappoints.
Rome 2017? Let’s find out! 🙂
2013 – Malta
