Junior Eurovision 2016 is almost upon us. The main show is in less than a week and first rehearsals kick off tomorrow – squeal!
With the fun and games about to start in earnest, it’s the perfect time to pause and see who our readers are getting behind in our ongoing poll, “Who should win Junior Eurovision 2016?”.
Since 10 November, we’ve been asking y’all to vote for your favourites. And thousands of you have answered our call, with an impressive 6,067 votes already cast. The poll remains open for a while yet, but we’re going to take a sneaky peek at how the figures are currently stacking up.
Martija Stanojkovic “Love Will Lead Our Way”
FYR Macedonia’s past record at Junior Eurovision is nothing to write home about. But all that might be about to change in 2016, as Martija Stanojkovic currently sits atop the poll with “Love Will Lead Our Way”.
Praised by the Wiwi Jury for fusing “Balkan realness with Caribbean cool”, the entry has amassed a total of 899 votes, or 14.82% of all votes cast.
Zena Donnelly “Bríce ar Bhríce”
Ireland missed out on the top ten in its Junior Eurovision debut in 2015. But could 2016 be their year? Y’all certainly think so, placing Zena Donnelly and “Bríce Ar Bhríce” in the first runner-up slot in our poll.
Drawing Wiwi Jury comparisons to the heroine of Pixar’s Brave, Zena has picked up a total of 724 votes so far, or 11.93% of all votes cast.
Water of Life Project “Water of Life”
Your current top two spots may be occupied by Junior Eurovision minnows, but y’all have voted in one of the contest’s powerhouses at three — Russia’s Water of Life Project with “Water of Life”.
The Wiwi Jury has already branded the song a potential winner, and you lot appear to agree. Currently, 688 of you have sent votes Russia’s way, which amounts to 11.34% of all votes cast.
The rest of the pack remain a long way behind. Italy’s Fiamma Boccia and Albania’s Klesta Qehaja complete the top five, with 367 and 366 votes respectively.
Of course, all this is subject to change, and probably will change once rehearsals get underway.
The poll remains open until November 19 at 17:00 CET. You can vote for as many acts as you want, but you can vote only ONE time. So make it count! You can watch all of the acts in the playlist below.

if russia doesn’t win we might as well call this contest junior riggor morris-vision contest.
1. Armenia
2. Albania
3. FYR Macedonia
Top 3 after first listen.
Yo thanks…..yeah the performance will ultimately decide how our assessment of the entries will finally stand.
Does anyone know where to get the jesc 2016 album on Google play??
@Polegend Godgarina
“I think they’ll make Russia win just to calm then down after they fumed for the ESC results”
This is what I’m afraid of on the one side. Just because ESC results – no denying – were a kind of strange…
On the other side why not let Russian participant win JESC if it deserves it?
@Kris
Okay, here you are then. 🙂
1. Armenia
2. Albania
3. Russia
4. Serbia
5. The Netherlands
6. Italy
7. Israel
8. Belarus
9. F.Y.R. Macedonia
10. Poland
11. Australia
12. Ukraine
13. Ireland
14. Bulgaria
15. Malta
16. Cyprus
17. Georgia
This year is very strong, there are no entries I dislike and many entries I love!
Of course my top will change after the show. For example, Anahit from Armenia seems to have a cold so I doubt that they stay in first place. 🙁
Can someone please do something with those useless halves of the show? The running order should be as the children have drawn it:
01 Bulgaria
02 Cyprus
03 Australia
04 Albania
05 Macedonia
06 Serbia
07 Israel
08 Ukraine
09 Ireland
10 Russia
11 Armenia
12 The Netherlands
13 Belarus
14 Malta
15 Poland
16 Georgia
17 Italy
@(J)ESC Fanatic ,
Would love to know your ranking of the jesc entries
I think they’ll make Russia win just to calm then down after they fumed for the ESC results. They have a great song anyway, so I’d be here for it. But I feel like the kids would rather vote for a song like the Netherlands’: fun and uplifting!
My top 10 from Ukraine:
1. Armenia
2. Italy
3. Russia
4. Macedonia
5. Georgia
6. The Netherlands
7. Poland
8. Malta
9. Albania
10. Serbia
@Kris
I saw it too and my top 3 is in the first half… my 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th are all in the second half though.
Anybody see the draw? All my top 5 are in the first half and 9 of my top 10 in first half …….except Italy……useless draw
Ireland? Really? Dead last for me. But there are a lot of good songs this year, Russia and Albania probably the best for me
And they are all in first half.
Of course I’m rooting for Russia=))
More objectively for me it’s Russia, FUR Macedonia and Italy no matter in what sequence.
only Russia
My Top 3
1.Armenia
2. Bulgaria
3.Poland
@xESCx
It’s irish people’s fault rigging every wiwi poll. ESC and JESC related every single year
@Paul how about you get a grip? Irish people support their act Wether the song is good or bad. I’ve seen many Irish people share this poll and asking people to vote for Ireland including zenas family and Ireland jesc twitter as well as many fans. is it our fault that we get behind our act and support them?
For all disbelievers, out of all the 17 countries Macedonia is second in the review of the Wiwi judges and first in the Wiwi poll. In most of the top ten predictions Macedonia is either second or first. If the Macedonian song is the favourite entry to so many JESC fans all over Europe, then there should be no doubt that it could win, unless somebody knows the results of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in advance, which turns out to be fishy.
My top 5
1. Poland
2. Albania
3. Ukraine
4. Russia
5. Armenia
Macedonia is going to ruin it with the staging. Watch!
Russia knows how to stage, so, they’ll have an advantage.
Get a grip irish people, your song is no favourite and it’s going to be lucky if it doesn’t finish in the bottom.
Really boring to see this people always rigging the wiwi polls….
Macedonia is the best this year 🙂
Macedona is my favorite, so i’m happy to see it first. Irish are all voting for themselfs, so this doesn’t say anything. Cyprus higher than Netherlands tho… WHY???
Macedonian song deserved victory, it is ultra modern and there is momentum taste of teenagers… and the jury will be comprised of children of that age, good luck neighbors <3
My top 3 are:
1. Russia
2. FYR Macedonia
3. The Netherlands
I think they’re all great songs and will hopefully all do well. But honestly this year there aren’t that many songs that I dislike!
I’m shocked to see Belarus so low :O
I hope Alexander does well in the contest, as his song is the most suitable for a children contest.
(Almost) all the others are very mature :/
Macedonia!!!
Great to see Albania and Armenia that high! 😀
Russia deserves this position. They will probably win the contest. I like F.Y.R. Macedonia’s song but I don’t think they will do that well. They may even place outside of the top 10 and shock everyone. Ireland… well, their entry has potential but we all know why they are doing so well in the poll…
