To say we have a penchant for Canada’s biggest Eurovision star (sorry Natasha St-Pier, but it’s true) would be a slight understatement. Our love for the 1988 Swiss winner knows no bounds. For a long time we thought it was unrequited, but finally Celine Dion has acknowledged us on her new track “Incredible”.

The single is the latest cut from her uber-successful 2013 album “Loved Me Back To Life”, and features American R&B singer Ne-Yo. The pair sing of how “our love is incredible” and “we’ll go down in history”. Honestly Celine, we’re absolutely chuffed that you feel that way. Ok joke! Of course she isn’t singing to us per se. But the song is written in such a way that no matter who’s listening it feels as if Celine is singing directly to you. It’s universal y’all.

Dion bashers (incredibly they do exist) are not going to be converted. This is typical Celine material, she knows her strengths and plays to them. As per usual she delivers the over-the-top vocal acrobatics with aplomb. And recruiting Ne-Yo was a stroke of genius. Their voices meld soulfully together, helping to raise the song above mere hyperbole. It truly is incredible. Oh, the emotion of it all. It’d be enough to make you well up.

Although the jury is still out as to whether this beats the Miss Piggy duet.
