There’s only one week left until wonderful Copenhagen welcomes all 37 delegations and the first rehearsals begin. Preparations are in full swing, with DR revealing new parts of this year’s stage every single day. Surely it will look amazing. The “Moscow-scale” or “Diamond-shaped” stage will looks like it will outshine the one in Malmö. Time will tell…
What do we have? We have a huge LED screen behind a smaller one that appears to be transluscent like glass. This smaller LED screen defines the two sides of the diamond-shaped stage, which has two quite small satellites. The floor of the stage will also be an LED screen, just like in Moscow.
Here we can see Norway’s test rehearsal:
What else do we have? Backstage there are many lights and… water. Yes, the Danes have created a tiny island on Eurovision island by pumping in tons of water in front of the stage. Eurovision fans better not try to mount the stage—they may drown!
Through this “ESC VLOG” series, DR is teasing us left and right and making fans shout: “I can’t wait to see it live on TV”. It also appears that the water will be coloured, so as to make it noticeable on the telly. WOW!
This video was filmed under the stage, and we see that there are holes in the water, so that artists can enter the stage from below. This particular technique reminded me of The Olympics, Athens 2004, when a huge sculpture came out of the water during the Opening Ceremony (19:28). Let’s hope the Danes don’t spend as much money on Eurovision as Greece did for The Olympics!
So, it seems that everything is on track and that Denmark will host one of the best contests ever. However, there is always the danger of not receiving enough from visitors to make up for all of these expenses. B&W Hallerne’s capacity is relatively small, so Copenhagen may not be as profitible as Norway 2010 and Sweden 2013.

@Javid. If ajerbaijan will win will be cause you are steeling points. Ok? Ooh yes and the stage of the eurovision song contest 2012 was a big faaiil. All europe has history but ajerbaijan has the biggest ethnikistic community in the whole world. The european people and the armenian are more educational than you all.
i’m reffering to the stand-in for the Norwegian performance!!!
The stage-in was probably thinking, “Can somebody give me an applause? Just a tiny bit?”. Hahaha. So far, the best stand-in that I watched was from Ellen Benediktson (the Songbird girl) doing L’Enfer Et Moi of last year!!! The vid by the way is through this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dhPz9xLu6I
whats the interval act for semi 1?
Hmm.. I off course I am also interested and excited about how the stage will look like, but in the end, it’s a Song contest, not a stage contest, so I don’t get why people are so crazy about comparing stages, and why the one with the most technology or the most expensive somehow is directly called the winner or the best stage… Also, the last and most recent biggest hit and song coming from Eurovision was was without a doubt Loreen with Euphoria. And remember what you guys, one did barely see the Baku stage in her performance!!! I… Read more »
Doesn’t sound like a good idea. But I have to see the real thing first.
@Deven O’Kearney, well, he’s just a troll. Please don’t pay attention to him. He’s pretending like an Azeri, so that he can irritate us. He can’t even speak in Azeri.
Sweden will win on this stage….that is amazing in itself! go sanna
I think every stage has brought something to the contest and all of them are great in their own way. Yes Malmo’s last year was small and maybe not as impressive visually as let’s say, Moscow’s, but its simplicity was part of its charm, it was more intimate and it achieved its purpose of getting the audience closer to the performers. Others like Moscow’s or Baku’s were visually impressive because of their size, its structure and the use of LEDs and others like Oslo’s and Dusseldorf’s were more minimalistic which gave more focus to the acts themselves. This time Copenhagen’s… Read more »
Hi Javid
To be honest with you, if anyone is stupid it’s YOU! Azerbaijan will NOT win this year. It will do well but it will NOT win. So stop saying that Azerbaijan will win this year. So stop irritating the rest of us with your seriously misplaced assumption.
@Honkeyponkey Marj Thank you brother ! We are the best ,Azebaijan will win brother .I hope you will be back next year!!
Finally these fcking Europeans will understand it!!! Fck Armenia and Stupid Europe.
VIVA AZERBAIJAN AND TURKEY !!<3<3
Looks great. Can’t wait! 🙂
the best stage was baku and moscov
@Reality
Thank you once again for siding with me. It’s nice to have you here. Lol
So I am agree with @Easpag .
And @Euphoria I think you must be proud that you won in 2012 ,do not care that much about stage .It is song contest and not rich or poor countries competition ; )
@Reality I guess you answered instead of Lolilly… ; ) Hahaha
@Lolilly I know what you mean but but I have also seen Armenian women just like Petra ,with great sense of humor .I personaly like that kind of humor .
I think Petra Mede’s humor actually saved the show.And these short videos were hilarious too.
@Easpag
As I said, it might be a cultural thing. We, Armenian women are more feminine, warm, welcoming and humble. I didn’t like her stern and rough tone. That’s all. She was not feminine enough for me. On the stage she was like a dictator.
Sharp angles, not angels…!
From the outside, the venue looks exactly like what it is: An old shipyard! It may not be something that everybody likes, but I don’t think that DR will try to do anything to hide this, as it would go against the whole idea by using the B&W hallerne as a venue. DR has stated that they want to create something not seen before, and also to emphasize danish maritime traditions, which would be difficult in a traditional arena. In these halls they can create most things the way they want them to be, and take advantage of the great… Read more »
@Lolilly really? I thought Petra Mede was one of the best parts on Eurovision last year. Her general manner, along with the Swedish Smorgasbord saved what I thought otherwise was a generally average show. But each to their own, I guess.
And the stage looks class. It truly looks like a gigantic masterpiece. I just hope that they get the exterior sorted before the finals.
Dear Europeans if you see a troll writing about 45 million dead Armenians then be sure he/she is not Armenian. Genocide is a serious topic for us , we would not use it to spam other’s articles. I want to apologise instead of these hearless people ,who use our name to spam articles. I do not know which country they come from …Shame on them : ( And God this stage is cool o.o Seriously I feel like Denmark read my mind xD I was like “It would be cool if there was water around stage ” and BAM Thats… Read more »
The stage in Copenhagen actually makes Dusseldorf, Oslo and Malmo’s stages look like a kick in the teeth.
By the way, Javid, you should stop blogging. You are being extremely deluded and he is annoying everyone. I could almost laugh at it to be honest with you. Your country’s song is not as good as our country’s (Ireland) song or Armenia’s song even with a bad stage show.
So, do everyone a favour and stop telling people that Azerbaijan will win because Dilara is not as good as Farid or Sabina and did they win? NO!!!!!!!!.

@Javid Your country forced people from their homes to build a stupid arena?….I don’t care of your country is richer, last year in Sweden we focused on telling people that “We Are One” That we are all the same and united. Religion, skincolor, etc doesn’t matter. The only thing you did was to get many tourists. Your slogan should have been “Come here to Azerbaaj-bu-jaannbn so we can get richer, and we don’t give a crap about human rights”…
And please grow up, calling people all these bad words aren’t necessary -.-
Deja caer,deja la lluvia caer
Well, that’s surely good news for Ruth Lorenzo. 🙂
@ everyone
The stage is gorgeous! Stop saying what’s better and what’s not. Have some respect. There is no better and no worse. Everyone tried their best throughout the years. Technology changes everything.
I LOVE THE STAGE a lot, but the exterior is, as my Hispanic friend would say “ay, ay ays!” Lol a big barn and a little barn!
HORRIBLE! A TOTAL UGLYNESS!!
DMGP 2010 stage had water on stage, see Simone from that year and the girl who played harp on water.
@Dar look yourself ,our stage was better .And we have better education than you stupid -.- .Go work get some money ,otherwise you will starve haha.Poor you.
Wait and see You will come to Baku next year ha ha.
Wow Javid you must be a good example of the poor education standards in Azerbaijan if you think sweden and Denmark are “poor” nations ..
Your comments make no sense what so ever !!
Are you related to the Aliyev family or something .. Stop your stupid propaganda !!
@ Javid , seriously , Azerbaijan can only wish to be a nation as developed as Denmark .. Get a grip you fool
@Frutti
I guess it’s a cultural thing…. For us she was cold, uninviting, stern. Kind of like a man! No femininity at all.
@fatima
I agree I hope they paint the actually hall, because I think that will horrible from the outside.
Still worse than Azerbaijan. Eww
My country is richer than yours ha ha ha.This stage is horribleee
AZERBAIJAAN 2015
Come we will show you real stage
@Lollily
Really?
I enjoyed Petra Mede’s integrated persona on stage. She made the contest her own – she was more than just a talking prop (e.g. the 2012 hosts).
I look forward to Lise Rønne, Pilou Asbæk and Nikolaj Koppel hosting because I know how inspired DR got from watching Petra Mede’s performance. Hopefully, some of that inspiration get’s to be an integrated part of Eurovision 2014.
@Euphoria,
Last years stage was not bad at all. I especially loved the hanging purple lights. It was the hostess, who was horrible. Her voice alone was not inviting. She looked like a dictator. Hopefully this year Denmark’s hosts will be better, inviting, warm and with a better speaking tone.
Remember guys that dmgp 2010 had rain in Bryan rices breathing on stage .. It was very impressive.. It will happen ..
Whoa!! Really nice and cool,
BUT
Real water+electricity=electrocution, shocking disaster. It’s kind if scary. I can’t help but picture a blow drier falling in the water. Zzzzzzzzzzzz!!
I know nothing about this kind of technology (which seems truly amazing! kudos to the teams), but I wonder whether “rain” could be made to fall over the pool between the performers and the off-stage cameras, thus allowing “Rainmaker” and “Dancing in the Rain” to have their rain 😉 Of course it couldn’t be falling on the stage, for that would mean an ESC with the record of two deaths 😛
Maybe we will have a big surprise? Can’t wait!
great*
Haha i agree with some of you. We really killed the contest last year…the arena, the stage was so bad.
Im so happy that Denmark is doing a grest job! 😀
U-uu-u-ndo 2013!
(From Sweden)
Let’s see what it looks like outside. Have they painted the place yet ?
This guy sings better than Carl
it seems like only the upper half of the stage will be used for the performances… so its not overly big i guess. only time will tell.
@Jan no it’s not. The test rehearsal is just to check if the soundtrack and acoustics are working ok. They don’t need the real artists.
The preliminary tests rehearsals has been made with pupils from a music school.
It’s not Carl Espen singing in Norway’s test rehearsal right? It doesn’t sound like him.
Anyways, the stage looks fantastic!!! I’m so excited for Eurovision this year. Last years stage is crap compared to this ;o
The floor is more advanced than ever seen before. It is constructed as a touch screen, like a very big Iphone! This means that the performers can create their own patterns on the floor, as they move around!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEeS8g7YXz0
Wouldn’t it be cool if when Emmelie de Forest opens the contest up with “Only Teardrops” on semi-final one, that they would make water come down like raindrops/teardrops and splash into the water!! I’m a big dreamer! 🙂
