In recent days, Eurovision betting agencies across Europe have narrowed their odds on Aram Mp3. Armenia’s “Not Alone” singer has odds at or below 1 at nearly every major betting agency.
William Hill, one of the largest betting agencies in the United Kingdom, currently has Aram at 5/6, well ahead of Sweden’s Sanna Nielsen (at 11/2) and Norway’s Carl Espen (at 13/2). The odds widen significantly after the top 3 favourites. William Hill lists Denmark, Hungary and Azerbaijan as the next favourites, all at 12/1.
But it’s in this latter group that we see some of the most interesting changes. Denmark’s Basim has narrowed significantly with his Bruno-Mars-inspired number “Cliché Love Song”. When we last checked in on March 19, he sat as seventh favourite behind Armenia, Sweden, Norway, Hungary, Belgium and Azerbaijan. But today he’s scooba-dooba-di-da’d his way past Hungary, Azerbaijan and Belgium.
Belgium’s Axel Hirsoux is one of this week’s biggest losers. He’s fallen from fifth on March 19 to ninth this week, behind Ukraine’s Mariya Yaremchuk and the United Kingdom’s Molly Smitten-Downes.
Romania’s Paula Seling & Ovi round out the Top 10.
What do you think of the odds below? Does Basim pose a threat to the Top 3, or do Armenia, Sweden and Norway have this on lock? Who do you think will make a big push in the days ahead?

In 2011 France is favorite to win and they finished on 15 place in final

I suspect both Armenian and Azerbaijan delegations to invest in betting odds, just to have s good starting position. Im shocked to see so many people taking odds as a fact. Being 1 in the odds does not mean you have the best song or chances, it does only mean most money is put on it….
Although the ESC is about a song contest and people should vote for their favourite song, it is the truth that Aram’s untactful appearance and statements are going to cost him some places on the scoretable at the end of voting. It is just human to let such things have an effect on one’s decisision, and so did happen with my opinion, too. The bad image, deserved or not, is a part of the show. A happy, friendly artist who knows how to take the publicity always get more points than those of another kind. Aram should not take the… Read more »
No clear winner, so things are jumping around like hell 😀 hahaha love it
I don’t really understand a lot about odds… but I hope they are right and Armenia wins, but I wouldn’t care if UK, Spain or Norway wins, but not Denmark (c’mon is that a joke??) or Azerbaijan (Sorry, your song is beautiful but it lacks of strenght) or Sweden (don’t kill me, I just don’t like it that much)
I don’t even get why there’s people betting on Azerbaijan this year. Their song is so boring and dull (probably from the rich Azeris themselves). Is there a price for people who’s bets reaches Top 10 in final results or something?
Yes, guys, this year reminds me 2011 either. Amaury was the big odds favorite. But, based in Youtube views, I predict that Eric Saade could be the winner. Unfortunately, Italy was backing and the jury give it the welcome back gift and Italy finished in 2nd. Also, Azerbaijan, I do not know why, won the contest. Also, last year, I predicted that Roberto Bellarosa achieve the final, when everybody would want kill me after that. So, once under youtube views, I predict: The winner will be among: Armenia, Hungary, UK, Austria and Denmark. Forget Spain, Sweden, Romania, etc. I will… Read more »
Romania the best, Paul and Ovi will win ESC 2014 .
Malta my top
I think UK is gonna win. And I´m serious while saying this 😛
And otherwise, Romania or Hungary. They have a good, simple, I´m-gonna-be-stucked-in-your-head-songs and everyone will like it. Maybe Romania´s song is in danger if the live performance will be too screamy, but I think one of those three is gonna win.
My favorite is btw Armenia, but I don´t think it will win. 🙂
Ireland, Israel, Finland and Spain have some of the best songs this year. They should have odds of between 5/1 and 12/1.
Since everyone is analyzing the possibilities of victory, here’s my input: Armenia has by far the best song from all post soviet countries. That’s going to guarantee them 10 or 12 from (Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Georgia, and Moldova). Armenian song will also do well with voters in (Spain, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Greece and maybe Germany due to diaspora presence and previous voting patterns. Sweden, Denmark and Norway are going to be in a deadlock with neighbors which is definitely going to be a disadvantage for all three of them. Ukraine will get a lot of sympathy votes and Azerbaijan will… Read more »
Most overrated on betting odds Armenia, Norway,Azerbaijan,United Kigdom and Belgium
Most underrated on betting odds Greece,Spain,Ireland,Estonia
Spain is my winner….:)
ireland is far too low, even ryan dolan was higher last year.
I don t thinks so Armenia wili win. Maybe they gets 9 times 12 points from ex soviet conuntries (Azerbaijan 0 points) that is 108 points, they wili maybe gets 10 or 12 points from France, Belgum that is 132 points. Maybe 10 points from Greece . that is 142 pointsThey need 80 to 100 points to win the Eurovision 2014.
It makes a lot of sense that Armenia will win. They’ll most likely get a lot of the ex-USSR votes (minus Azerbaijan) along with Ukraine. Plus, the fact that 3 Scandinavian countries are in the top 5 will cause a distribution between all 3 of them.
I’m still hoping these odds are as wrong as in 2011 so we’ll see a winner still not in this list.
I really like Sweden and Denmark, and it would be fun to see such an upbeat song such as Basim’s win over so many ballads! Besides, we would see Denmark winning twice in a row, but I’m not sure if Europe would make it happen.
From the current top 10 the one I support the most is UK, I’m starting to like Molly more and more.
Anyone but Armenia or Hungary!
Wow… shocked to see how quickly people shift their argument from “this is plagiarism!!” (even meaning “this sounds like…”) to “fell-happy song that Europe will choose”. If that lame number goes as far as top 5, I’ll lose most of my recently-built hope that the ESC was on its way to be once again a powerful music festival. That said, I still enjoy the drama, the atmosphere around it and even (some of) the glitz. But then again, dear readers of WiWiBloggs, Romania? Ovi and Paula Seling are just lovely, they sing wonderfully well and have good chemistry and lots… Read more »
If Belgium wins I will have no hope for Europe. I will be quite happy if Armenia are victorious, being my 3rd favourite, but I hope Ukraine will sneak up a few more places in the coming weeks. And Sebalter!
I like Denmark this year. Cool and happy song 😀
My TOP 37

I’m actually a vivid supporter of feel-good songs, from whatever they come from, so I’ll bet Basim to get Top3 placement. It really stands out – while we all discuss ballads, people of Europe will likely wanna feel-good, as well. And the children will love him, mark my word. So, I can easily bet that Basim may end up #2 or even win, but I doubt that. So, #2 it is. Go Denmark!
I don’t know why Ukraine is so high on the betting honestly… and I think UK has a better chance than 8th.
The bookies are bad at picking a Top 3. Spain, Hungary, and Romania are the real title contenders. Unless they’re just hoping to make a lot of money off of people’s bets?
I think winner is not clear yet, this year there is several songs with same level, not a favourite one, week before Eurovision song contest will be a betts revolution I am sure.
However for me winner is between Hungary, Romania, Spain, Uk, Sweeden.
The winner for me is Anna Nielsen for SWEDEN for EUROPE singign real ballad song with real emotion, contemporary, contender, eurovisionery, and a victory song.
My top 5:
1. SWEDEN
2. NORWAY
3. UNITED KINGDOM
4. AZERBAIJAN
5. MONTENEGRO
GOOD LUCK 😉
Yes this year Bookies number 1 favourite is going to fail like in 2006 (it was Greece), 2007 (Sweden, Switzerland), 2010 (Azerbaijan), 2011 (France) etc.. Aram will fail just like Amaury who was huge favourite with clown ballad song which had no real emotion but France relied on Amaury’s voice that failed, before final night I kept posting that these were going to fail and they did, now I am saying the same about Aram of Armenia who wil NOT win by trying to oversing poem forsing his throat that kills ears of people, whats so special about a guy… Read more »
I wouldn’t read into the bookies odds when this year is a similar scenario to 2011 .. It will be close .. Armenia will be top 3 but not a winner
One of these countries will win:
Armenia
Spain
Sweden
United Kingdom
Romania
AZERBAIJANNNNNNNN BUT I THINK UNITED KINGDOM WILL BE WINNER
Armenia is very boring song,no chance of winning, the best Sweden,Hungary,Romania,Ukraine,United Kingdom,Lithuania,Italy,Ireland.
Armenian song very beautiful. i like it
How much money has the Armenian delegation payed to be hyped like this by the betting agencies?? Not alone is a nice song but what is so special about it?? It seems like Armenia is in it for the win this year and do everything to take the price home. When is it finally going to stop that my favorite contest is being hijacked by certain countries who use it to promote themselves(Azerbidjan 2012…..) It makes the voting boring and it is a slap in the face to all the fans and people who work hard to make this huge… Read more »
my top 3
1.Armenia
2.Ukrine
3.Belgium
I hope Armenia wins even thought my favourites are Switzerland, Norway and Hungary
I agree with @bav…armenia, sweden and norway are good songs, but I don’t see them as winners. Hungary, Denmark, Romania — these are more winners to me.
This year belongs to the United Kingdom!!! For sure guys!!!
dayyum, armenia… not sure if the song is really that good or all the songs this year sucks because i really don’t get all the hype.
crossing my finger for azerbaijan win just to piss off everyone. 😛
Armenia, Sweden, Norway – they are weak and boring, no chance for victory
